Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hey Vi's~ HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I might have forgotten but the recipe is called "More"...because everyone asks for...ready for this...MORE. Enjoy!

Judy~Travel safely! Have fun!

Laura~Sorry you missed the Amazing Race. It was so good last night. You know who left? They were our fav's. Susanne and her work partner tried out for it this year. They obviously didn't make it. Last week when they had to get a fast forward tattoo, I asked Susanne (who is opposed to tats) if she would have gotten one and she said, "hell yeah". LOL...I don't know about that. I want another one and she is not going for it at all. Said she'd tell my dad.

Well...gotta run and get some stuff done. I have been so busy lately. Susanne is off running and I skipped the gym (no dance class til thursday night). We have friends coming over later. Gonna go to the movies (I think) or a friends party and then we have dinner reservations at 8:30. Then I think we are gonna slink over to a club and dance or come home and get drunk and play electronic monopoly! Either way...many calories heading my way. Gonna order some fish at resturaunt to "try" to behave. Don't know what I am gonna wear. Black jeans and something??? Anyway, everyone be safe and have a happy New Years Eve.

My MIL is coming this weekend again so my New Year starts Monday. Sunday night when I go to bed I am throwing all the shit out. Looking forward to it. Although, I didn't gain anything during the holidays so that is good!

OK...gotta run!

Pam- No! Who went home???

And about the FF, I said last week no way I'd have done that.. that's a stupid tattoo for LIFE.. then my dad pointed out, you can just have it laser-removed.. and if you win 1m, who cares. So in retrospect I would have. Dad wanted me to try out with him, the only problem is i am deathly afraid of heights. I could do all the weird things, running around, eating crazy stuff, sleepign in the streets.. but when they had to do that zip line 2 weeks ago.. I'd have been out.. and they HAD to do it.. so.. DH said he'd love to do all that, and he is going to try out with my dad instead lol.

Kent and Vixen went home:(. They were stupid and didn't uturn that dumb ass blonde and her asshole boyfriend. We were screaming at the TV...LOL it was good. I liked them. Last week when Kent was mad at Vixen and yelled, "Stop the car Vixen...right now..." Well, we've laughed about that all week. I am sad to see them go!

Aww yeah, they were such a weird couple, I liked watching them. When he was yelling at her to pull over the car I died laughing! Our newspaper said Vyxen's family lives in our city, so I was trying to figure out if that meant she lives here or what..

It's the football games throwing off the recording times, so I've set TiVo to manually record the show for 3 hours, so I won't miss it anymore!

Oh yeah, Kat I do have weird tastes! I didn't say I hated all foods mwhaha.. I just don't like what I don't like :)

I guess things most people like.. italian, pastas, pizza.. yuck yuck IMO. And burgers, I can take or leave them. I've never gone out of my way for one. But I love fancy gourmet-ish foods. When we go to the fancy steak houses at casinos.. num num.. lobster bisque, crab legs, filet mignon with bernaise sauce.. grilled asparagus, fried crab claws, and on and on.. Oh I could eat everything in those places (except the fish).

I've been craving Red Lobster.. DH got me that gift certificate, but I gotta find someone to go with me.

I have some friends coming over tonight like I said, she called and said she's bringing diet coke for the rum.. and some champagne.. Right now it looks like I'll be doing Nyquil shots :(

Awww poor you Laura! Sorry you are getting sick, I wondered last night if I was, my throat hurt in a wierd area---but today it is fine....as I knock on my wooden desk!!!

I built way too big of a fire I am roasting alive in here! But Kinsey is running around in a Princess dress---a ballerina dress--so I amped up the fire---whoo!!! I found DH this shirt---it is a simple thermal top, the waffle weave type---but it is done in the black and red plaid like a flannel shirt! It is made by Modern Culture, has their little loop thing on the shirt tail. It is in a henley style. I loved it---so much that I wore it today--and it is soooo big! But I had 3 people tell me today how cute it is and ask where I found it! Thinking after drying it, it might not fit him anymore---doggone it!

Sitting here wasting time while making some Chex mix for my parents party tonight, I already made her some cheese balls, and loaded up all the candy I need to get out of the house!! Feed it to the people there! I made 3 huge batches of Poppycock for her this morning, so now I am relaxing!

Just talked to Brittany, she is our chauffeur (sp?) tonight! Rick thought it would be nice to go buy them a gift card for dinner--they can drop us off, have dinner, and hang out then come for us when we call!!! Getting old has its perks!

I know I need to get pictures done, but just before we were going to go do it, the stupid place Rick works, made him shave---and I like his little beard thingie....so I put it off, and we never ended up doing it. They make them shave twice a year for mask fitting, in case there is a leak and they have to mask up----it has been forever since he even went on a job---let alone a specialty pump job---but he follows the rules...he is not much of a rebel anymore---like I said getting old does have its perks!!

Jenn--thanks for the reminder, I need to sit down and write out a couple of bills myself, and go and pick up Ricks Rx. Get myself in gear for the new year.

I do not have to do the family thing for New Years dinner though! Rick's folks are both down with colds, and his sister amazingly has not called---she likely knows she ticked me off!!! I will not go if she did try to make plans---I told Rick, I am done, I have a family we have 3 kids---with kids of their own, and our parents will always be invited, but the huge gathering--is a thing of the past. New resolution---be tough!!!

My day tomorrow is going to be spent with kids coming and going, going to watch the Rose parade, and then Becky & Gary are going to come over, we will probably play some dominoes or cards or something....then Rick works on Wed. I am going to bust my hiney to get Christmas down and back in the totes, so when he goes on days off on Thursday, we can put it in the shed, and be done with Christmas '07!

Well time to stir again--so will check on you girlies in awhile!

Kat

Kat, I just saw your last post one time. ???

TracyinKS, you look so good in that bathing suit top!

Laura and Pamela, I LOVE The Amazing Race and was so disappointed that Kent and Vixen were eliminated last night. Who're y'all hoping will win? I like everybody BUT the bickering couple! They drive me freaking crazy! Carping at each other last night while looking for the newspaper ad. And Ron ("Who's your daddy?") also gets on my nerves for always berating his daughter. What losers! And Laura, I'm with you on the height issue. But NOT with eating creepy crawlies. No, thanks. I'll just have to get my million some other way, thank you very much. Maybe a lap dancer when I finish losing my weight???!!!??? :scared:

DH and I took the three dachshunds out for a walk at the lake today. It is currently 71 degrees, sunny with a light breeze. And this is winter? At least tomorrow night it's supposed to get to below 30.

We stay in on New Year's Eve and, and Suzie, like you we might wake up when we hear noise--except for us in the big city (5,000 people) it's fireworks that might wake us up.

Can y'all believe we've come so far this year? I know that the highlight of my year was getting the band. 57 pounds and still counting down...I could NEVER have done this on my own. Thanks to my little "14" always there to help me out and save me from being the glutton I truly am.

love to all,

Cindy

Continued band success to all of us in the new year!

I deleted the duplicate Cindy---at least that can be dealt with, losing them makes me wanna scream bad words!!!

All my stuff is delivered to Mom, now I gotta work on me!!!

If I don't make it back---I'll see y'all here next year!!!

Kat

Happy New Years Eve Violets! I'm sick, sick, sick today. Woke up nauseated and on the verge of getting sick, diarrhea (TMI i know!), and I haven't been able to eat or drink anything today.

I just wanted to tell everyone Happy New Year! Hopefully I'm not sick tomorrow on the first day of 2008! That just won't be a good sign for me LOL

Laura and Denise, So sorry you are not feeling well. What an aweful time to get sick. Hope you get over it real quick.

We also have fireworks going off over here but we live right on the edge of the city limits. Apparently all the farmers around here like to shoot their rifles off. It all last for about 15 minutes and than it quites down. As long as no one gets hurt.

I have only managed to lose 3 lbs. in the last month and was considering calling the Doc's office to have my appointment moved up. But it's not my bands fault. It is all my fault. I'm the one that has made some very poor choices in what I am eating. I still can not eat like I used to but the band doesn't stop the rich gooey buttery sugery and very fattening from going down. So I have no excuse for going in for another fill until I get my head in order. And I promise to myself that I am going to do it. Tomorrow I'm not going to exercise but will watch what I eat. Then starting Wednesday morning I am back at it full force.

Besides, incase I get invited to a wedding (wink wink, Tracy) I need to be able to wear something nice and look good wearing it. Tracy- I'm just teasing you.

Everyone please have a very safe evening.

Blue Springs police hope to curtail New Year's hail of bullets

By Jeff Martin | jeff.martin@examiner.net

Here's an issue that you might not think is important to the Blue Springs Police Department: celebratory gunfire.

Certainly there is a concern for the typical New Year's Eve issues, including driving while intoxicated. That in itself puts officers on alert, and Sgt. Bob Harman said police will keep the obligatory eye out for such offenders. But those residents who step outside of their home into the cold night air, brandishing and firing a firearm to salute the arrival of a new year - that, too, is a concern, according to Harman.

Did anyone notice that we are on page 666? Is that too spooky?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
