Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!! I just added my name to the trip list too :) I am so excited!

OK, so, I am getting a turkey neck. My double chin is gone so now I have the gobble gobble look going on. YIKES...my stepdaughter noticed it (she 13). So it looks like that has to be added to my plastic surgery wish list. So that make #1 Arms (removal of the angel wings) #2 Getting rid of my Gobble-gobble #3 TTuck. Now, to find the cash to do it and I am in business.

Laura-glad you deflation went well ;)

Well, everyone have a super duper evening!

Laura

when i just went in for my fill last week, I had lost .75cc I was at 1.25cc and was great, actually mushies for 2 weeks, he was going to fill me to 1.5 and he did and I felt way too tight... so he asked what I wanted and i said 1. I've lost 7lbs in a week and just starting to eat solid stuff yesterday. so, I am at 1cc and perfect, but can tell my max if I want to push it is going to be 1.25. So i guess it sounds like we are in the same place.

Just wanted to share my glorious news..

Made this Chili's do-at-home dinner (Monterey chicken & Taters).

I ate a piece of the chicken.. (It was nasty).. BUT NO PB!!!!

So I heated up some meat balls instead for dinner.. serving size is 6, I ate 4.. and felt 'full', no pains or aches trying to eat. WHEW.. It's so nice.

Then an hour later had a handful of red grapes and no problems again. This could be my sweet spot (for now)!!!

Now to conquer the head hunger I get at night.

Tracy - you are so funny

I am seriously tinking I would love surgery in 2008 but that is just not going to happen, either with a new job or ins, or money.... so I am thinking early 2009 for TT. Why do they make it so difficult... Yes, I would like to have my entire body done but that flab of skin on my belly... yuck... I love hearing how great I look, and I'm starting to see that... but... that is only because I have clothes on.

Wow, somehow I missed an entire page of posts---duh! I was in a panic, I had not seen Terry---I got a PM, but not seeing any posts, so I went hunting, and found an entire page

Well girls I am still without the infamous question mark. I got the keyboard, and need an adapter, it is supposed to be in the box, but is not. I hate---I mean HATE Best Buy!!! I have everything, the box, the packing, the install disc, the receipt, and the name of the geek I spoke with hours after buying it. But nope if there is a problem it has to be taken up with the manufacturer.....grrrrrrrrr!!!!!

The keyboard has a USB connection, and I do not want it to be USB---the only USB ports I have available are on the front of my CPU---so I want an adapter to go from USB to PS/2. They used to sell them for both the printer, and the mouse. No more, now the only way to get one is to buy it with the unit. You can buy the reverse....PS/2 to USB but not the other way around. So....have all the e-techs at DH & DD's work looking for a spare old adapter! Then I will hook up my keyboard, and have my beloved question mark!!!

I actually bought another different keyboard today, one with a hardwired PS/2 plug----but I hated it the second it come out of the box!!! The keys are wierd! Large on the base, small small on top---with little tiny lettering on them. Shaped say like a pyramid. I tried messing with it, I typed gibberish---so it is going back! At least Walmart is better about that than BB!

****List Info Needed****

Pamela, Terry, Jennifer,Laura, Jane, Tracy(KS),and Michelle ---do you want email included (aargghh--you know....question mark!!!)

I also do not have birthdays for----Denise, Amanda, and Jennifer (Ms. Jen---I know you just mentioned it when we wrongly wished you a happy birthday---I forgot to note it though! I think you said like July 19th maybe I am probably soooooo wrong!!!)

Also was wondering Jenn (and others if you want to let me know---some of you might like it if gifts were family oriented) if you want your kids included ---some have sent kids names as well as the spouse or partner.

I also know I have heard it---and could likely find it---but will just ask!!! Laura---I need DH's name!!! Also don't show a spouse or partner if one is needed on you Jane.

Panda, if you want in I need all the info from you---as well as anyone else wanting included, that I don't have info on already. I will give y'all a couple of days to get the extra info to me, and then I will send you all out the list.

Laura when you get the list, you can use it to add my name to your Secret Santa List.

Well, I best get to bed....my stomach is not settling though. I had some chili for dinner, it is not doing well! Not like a band related not well, like a usual, I ate chili, and have heartburn or indigestion not well!!!

Will see y'all in the morning!

GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!! I had ice on my windshield this moring!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not ready for defrost yet!

I'm making chili tonight for dinner....... I am bouncing right now... anywhere from 210-214........ I REALLY want to be 199.9 by Turkey Day.

My Next fill appointment is set for 11/26/2007...... I have been at my sweet spot since August and and really dropped weight since then.... I was hoping to hurry up and get to ONEderland before hitting a major plateau.... but with my luck I'm going to be at one right now........... I have a 4cc band and am nearly at 4cc's in it....... however my doc says I can be overfilled to 5cc's or so...

I am really tight... I think Laura and Jenn would be freaking out if you both were at my level...... but it is the right level for me at this time. I am still struggling with eating too fast.. it gets me every stinking time.

OK.. time to go get my WC oatmeal!

Good Morning Violet Family~

(No, I will not close this post w/ MOVE THAT BUS)

Well, the state is on fire. I hate fire...too unpredictable. So many families are in shelters now. Please think of them and send out some prayers for these people and the fire fighters. I honestly don't know how many fires there are now...spots all over southern Cal.

Well, another day here. I swear, I need a day off. Sometimes, because Susanne and I usually squeeze in lots on weekends, I need a day just to myself. But we have parent/teacher conferences the rest of the week so the kids are

"acting up" because of minimum day. I know it is hard to tell when they are being good or bad. Yesterday, I was walking around during math, trying to teach these people about ordering fractions...when one little shit said, "Yes, I'll have a double cheeseburger hold the lettus"...ARE YOU KIDDING ME. This little "angel" does not know his times tables, but is talking to me like I am a waitress. I swear...sometimes...(don't write it Pamela...you are on the internet...keep it to your self...grumble grumble grumble).

Well, off to take orders! Have a great day!

Pamela

I know that is not really funny.... not in the least.. but reading a teachers reactions is hysterical. What is wrong with parents - why can't they teach their children to respect others!

well off on an adventure

Tracyks - I'm tight but good, i was bouncing 212-214 and now bouncing 207-209. back to the gym today to get to onderland by thanksgiving with you!

Aughhhhh, I need a fill so bad but my fill doctor is booked up until Nov. 17th. That sucks!!! I haven't lost a friking fraken pound in months. Ok, I'm done venting now....

My turkey chili was good last night. I'm gonna have some leftovers for lunch today. I'm about to go get my oatmeal ready.

Pamela - I love your new picture? Who is that handsome man with you? Are you not in the area that is affected by the fires? What about Denise? I've been keeping up with the news and things are so bad over there. Keeping everyone in my prayers.

My brother is gonna send some pix of him walking into the school w/ his backpack on. I'll share those if I can figure it out! It is not a great pix of either of us...but I had it on the puter.

As I watched Matt Lauer report at the fire this morning, I worried about my sisters in CA---know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I worry about you. Where are you in proximity to the fires.....yeah yeah you know......today I hope to find an adapter!!!

I actually have live real life family in California, and I believe in a bad area, as far as where the fires are---they are in Rancho Cordova I think it is, maybe Rancho Cordoba....Rick has his best friend who lives in San Bernadino---he has been evacuated, and is currently living with his ex wife, in a nearby suburb. They thought that would be safest, they are trying to keep one of them with the kids at all times in case they get evacuated there, the kids will be with at least one of them. Which is REALLY shocking, the divorce was not very civil, was nice to see them step up to the plate, and do right by the kids for this.

Several years ago, we were in the midst of massive fires, burning huge areas around us, we would wake up to ash covering everything. At the same time they were flooding back East---they had a cartoon on the political page of the paper, that showed the US folded over on itself the floods putting out the fire---don't we wish it was that easy.

I received and added Jenns info---you are complete. Also added email for Michelle and Pamela--thanks guys!

Yep Pamela, he looks like a sweetie, better keep him away from my Kinsey girl, she already has a boyfriend!!!LOL I can remember the first days of school---reactions were so different. Plus I took several to their first day that were not my own. With my day care kids, many parents could not or did not take time to take them the first day, so we always tried to have a first day of school party, pictures, and a welcome back home party. My oldest granddaughter started school this year, and we were not part of it, it just shatters my heart. Mason (who I consider my oldest grandson) began the year before---we were left out of that too. I usually see them on Halloween, Masons Dad who is basically raising our granddaughter, brings them by, he tries to include us. Ever since my DS got involved in another relationship, she has been running and keeping him from his daughter. Now she has another child by another man (3 for 3) and we have no idea where she is.

I was going to suggest since we are having our gathering as Violets only----that we each plan to bring some pictures or video or something---to pass around and share, of our families, our weight loss---where we live---whatever!

I was so tired this morning---it took me forever to find a position to fall asleep in. So 5:30 found me exhausted! I convinced Kinsey to go back to bed with me, and we would turn on the TV and find some cartoons---did you know at 6AM the only cartoon I could find was SpongeBob on 2 different channels! Anyway we got her blankets all squared away, and I closed my eyes, and she decided to scoot over closer to me, and when she went to lay down she cracked her head HARD on the headboard....poor baby---needless to say it woke us up! We grabbed the "boo boo bear" ( a bear filled with some sort of beads we keep in the freezer, I have had for over 20 years!!!) and he sat on her head for a few minutes, and she was fine---but it sure was a rude awakening!

Well, guess I should get some things done....will check with y'all later!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
