Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Good Morning, Violets..

I woke up late today with a bummer cold. Just what I need before two concerts this week and next!!

Tracyk.. I sure hope you get that tooth yanked out of there today!! You need some relief from that pain!!!

I just got all the ingredients into the crock pot for Terry's Soup. I know it will smell so good when I get back home after running some errands, but I won't be able to smell it.. arghhhhhhh

I've had problems with deli turkey getting stuck, but never pb'd on it.. thank goodness!!

TracyinKS.. you look great in your pics.. It's a new and improved you!!! Congrats!!

Laura.. so sorry to hear about your sister. Sounds like she has a whole lot of issues to contend with. My prayers are with her during this difficult time.

Terry.. I'm up for a road trip just about anytime!!! We all REALLY need to try and meet up somehow, somewhere, sometime. Especially in April for our year anniversary!!!

I'm off to do my errands and then settle back in here for the afternoon. Nothing on my schedule today except relaxing and getting over this cold.

TTFN...

My gosh! I'm gone for one day and there's a mini meltdown going on!!

Terry ~ you're always so encouraging and so helpful to all of us here so when you need us of course we'll be there for you!! If I need to I will drive down to I-10 and kick your booty to the gym! And join you! LOL! But seriously, your face is the one I see when I decide to sit on the couch instead of going to the gym. It makes me get right back up and put on my sweats and head out the door. So whenever you are feeling down on yourself please think about what an inspiration you are to all of us here...

Laura ~ I hope your sister gets the help she needs. It must be frustrating for you and your family to have to watch her hurt herself. Does she have a partner or a close friend that could stay with her if she doesn't want to come home?

Pamela ~ My gosh, I was reading your post and you could have been talking about me. I get so frustrated with myself on the self sabotage. Like Terry said, I feel like I'm just LAZY at life. I just want to sit back and have everything happen for me. Or I want to just do the most minimum amount of work to make things happen. Yes, that's it. The most minimum work possible. In all areas of my life. Work, health, relationships. And then I try to convince myself that I'm happy with the way things are. Like losing one pound every two weeks, I try to convince myself that i'm ok with that. Or my job that I'm not really happy at, again, I convince myself that I'm happy here. Augh. Sorry to unload... All this sharing makes me put a spotlight on my life too...

Gina - Get a slight unfill! You actually might be doing damage to your esophagus with all that reflux going on.

Kat - your life is full of crazy characters, huh? Registered at a porn shop? Wow. This lady must really really need some excitement in her sex life is she needs so many sex aids that it requires her whole family to buy them for her! Well your life certainly is never boring!

Tracy - WOW! You look amazing! You are so beautiful! Your belly is shrinking so fast, I'm so jealous!

Oh Laura did you send Kat my info to put on her list? Let me know, if not I'll PM everyone my info just so they'll have it. Also, Kat I never got the list, could you send it to me?

Weird, I'm trying to update my avatar and for some reason it's not letting me. I saved my pic as both a jpg and a bmp but every time I try to update it says it doesn't recognize the file. Or that it's not a valid file name. That's never happened before. I've always uploaded jpg's. Anyone having this problem?

No, I didn't send the info to Kat.. It's at home :)

My sister lived with her girlfriend of a long time, they broke up not too long ago and she moved out.. so sister lives alone. Mom said move back home or have a friend move back, she had her gf move back in. I think that makes matters worse, and I'm confused about all that. They have a weird relationship, because though they were broken up, they still talked and said they love each other, miss each other.. and my sister instigates it, she wants 'space'. Anyway..

I think I'm getting a bladder infection??? When I pee, near the end, i get a pain in my stomach. That's usually a bladder infection right?

I'm going to Red Lobster with my g'ma today for lunch! Then going to bowling coaching with husband (he takin lessons from a local pro), then we're goin to Sam's so I can get a hoss size of chicken breast in a can LOL!

Laura - I've come to the conclusion that you just have taste buds from another planet or something. I'll eat a lot of things, but I will NOT eat canned chicken! I think it tastes like dog food smells!! And here you are buying all you can get your hands on!

Terry.... I fixed the crock pot Soup today and even with my stuffed up node, I can smell it and DH says i'm driving him nuts with the smell. He can't wait to dig in, but we have one more hour. Thanks for sharing the recipe!! With the chills I'm having today, the soup is gonna be just perfect.

TracyinKS..well, at least you know people have been asking about your change. If they hadn't noticed, they wouldn't have asked!! Now you can be a good will ambassador for the band.

I did add a few things to the Soup that others might like to try. I added some parsley flakes, basil, dill and lots of Italian seasoning for a little kick in the flavor. I just had a spoonful and it was mighty tasty!!!

Here is a story for you....try to invision this:

At 7:30 this morning I called Southern Dental and got an appointment for 7;30 so I rush around & get dressed and my dh brings me in. I sit there (in the room by myself with no clock) waiting. They do x-rays...try to talk me into a root canal, and then 1 hour later they deaden my mouth and inform me that I am not going to be able to have nitrous oxide! I sit ther with my dead mouth and waited, and waited....then the girl comes in and says my dh had asked how I was and I thought to myself so its not just me, I must ave been in here a while....I cried and cried and then thought WTF am I doing here? I got up, dead mouth and all, and walked straight out of there biotching the whole way out...I call my dr that I have the appt with next Thurs and told them the whole story and to make a long story short, was able to get it pulled by him today. He put me under with IV sedation and the rest is history....God I love IV meds :car: Plus it ended up being cheaper...So, other than being numb, I am pain free!! Thank you al for listening to me whine and cry through this ordeal. It sure has kept my mind off the scales though!!! Love ya'll....

Excuse any typos.... :)

I have been gone since OH GEEZE LOL right after I got banded! I wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone. I am down from 244 to 189(ish) I always go up and down one or 2 lbs before I settle to a lower weight and then I go up and down on that weight too. I am SO busy I have 18 month old twins and it is SO nice to run and play and just be acitve with them. My husband is loving my new body. I still have a while to go but I am getting there. We are thinking about going for baby #3 so we will see where that takes us. That is why I love the idea of the band you can safley have a baby and then pick right back up on your weight loss it is wonderful. Okay that is my update for you wonderful ladies I hope everyone is well and I am going to try to be on here but with the little ones running like crazy time just goes too fast! Take care!

Kacey

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
