Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

hello gals

well how is this for motivation. I just slept for an hour, the best sleep I have had in forever it seems like. I am still in a fog. It is almost 90 here today. WHERE THE HELL DID FALL GO????? I have to go work in the kitchen in this, which yes, when It was summer every day it was ok, it was 60 as a high the other day here, fall in upstate NY.... or summer/?

well I'm getting ready to go in, I just got some crystal light to take with me, I have had my fill of plain Water and that is a problem.

I hope you all have a great afternoon/evening and as usual I'll check in when I get home from work.

Terri, I texted you like an hour ago!

Says you haven't looked at it yet.

That's not going to be good motivation :)

I have to find the strength somewhere (but where?) to re-commit. I have to rekindle that fire (but how?) to reinvent myself once again. I have to love myself enough (huh?) to do this for me!

or...hate yourself enough NOT to :) You can do it Terri-we all can because we have the very best support group right here!!

Well, to make a longgg story short, I will be waiting until next Thursday until I get my tooth fixed (pulled). Thank God the pain meds go down easily....

I will check in later. Have a great evening!

PS Tracy...you look great!!

LOL....I don't keep my cell phone handy. It's in my purse under my desk and isn't very loud when a message comes in. But I DO check it before I get in my car and keep it handy 'til I get home. So don't worry...your messages will get thru before the 'critical hour'!!

My cell number is xxx-xxxx. If any of you see my exercise ticker looking like it's not moving...feel free to harrass me! LOL

YOU GUYS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST. I love you all!!! MMMMmmmmuaah!

BTW, i did go in today and asked for a teeeensy weeeeensy fill: 0.1cc!! The nurse said, and I quote, "if that small amount makes any difference, I'll be amazed." In early Aug. she filled me 0.5cc (to 2.5) and I had to go in for an unfill 'cause I was too tight. She took me back down to 2.3 and I felt too loose! So I asked for 0.1cc (to 2.4) and it hopefully will put me right at my sweet spot! We'll see!! On the fills board someone was kind enough to post the Inamed protocol and it says there that "as the patient progresses in their weight loss, the effect of very tiny fills (less than 0.2ccs) becomes greater and greater. it is not uncommon for a late-stage Lap-band patient to experience a significant difference in restriction with as little as 0.5cc of fill." Isn't that interesting? I thought I was nuts for wanting such a little fill, but I guess I'm not after all!

Hey Violets~

I have so much to write and I don't want to forget anything.

Tracy~ Smokin hot mama! Truly beautiful, and more importantly, you look truly happy!

Terri~ I love you to pieces! Your honesty has been a huge motivator for all of us. Yes, I will help you! I want to share that yesterday was the first day I've exercised in 4 weeks. I can't believe how quick it adds up. We all fall down. When I am doing good, I begin to self sabotage myself. THAT IS WHY I NEED MY PSYCHOLOGIST! Why don't I, deep deep down, view myself worthy of happiness, success (dissertation) or health (weight loss). This is true in all aspects of life. I shared about wanting to quit my doctorate degree...I've written chapter 1,2 and 3 and only have 4 and 5 to go...and I want to quit now. WHY? Why would anyone do all that work and pay the money to stop. Sound familiar? All the work and pay we did w/ the band...then not work out in 4 weeks (and I think it is over 4 weeks, can't remember, been so long). Then I look at other areas in my life...does this behavior transfer to relationships, work, etc. WHY DON'T I FEEL LIKE I DESERVE THIS...IT...SUCCESS...HAPPINESS...HEALTH? What the hell is wrong w/ me.

Long story long (lol) thank you for bringing this out into the open. We are all in the same situation. Together we will get through this.

It has been said many times, but wow...I really love and value you all. Our varried backrounds, life experiences, etc. enrich our experiences in our weight loss.

I got home today and scheduled a fill for tomorrow. Instead of waiting for the weekend to pass (so I could eat) I am gonna get it and try to drop the last 4 before next Wed (my 6 month anniversary). Anywho, I am proud of myself for doing it.

Terry~ Can you work out in the morning? It may be better than after work for you? Just a thought. Last year, I was at the gym at 5 to 5, and then in the car driving home by 5:45 or so. Anyway, thought I would throw that out. Also, before you leave work, change into your workout clothes. Go to the gym before you go home.

OH yeah, here is my cell number if anyone ever wants to chat, text, or just shoot the shit!

760-408-3880!

Gonna go get ready for Jazzercise class. It is so fun! I just love it. It is a national franchise, maybe in your area too. Go to Jazzercise to find out!

sorry for the long post!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoox

Tracy -- wowser -- you look fantastic!!!

Terry -- okay we got your # -- you got me motivated (look at my signature/exercise update! Reminds me -- I need to update it for today!) I just might - maybe make my goal for the month. Now it is time for me and our violets to keep you motivated!!!!!

I have to tell you - it's been 3 weeks since my last fill and boy oh boy -- I am still restricted! Also having lots and I mean lots of reflux. I went to the doc-in-the-box (aka Patient First) thinking I had strep throat - it hurt so bad --- they said no - must be viral infection. Took some maloox and took the sore throat away! Comes and goes now -- but reflux 24/7.

Have a good evening everyone! Love ya all!

I wasn't 100% sure about posting all our #'s here, so I went ahead and sent out the list we have so far, since most of our #'s are on it. If you want to give everyone a chance to write it down and edit your post to remove it...that way we still have all the info.

I LOVE thinking I can pick up the phone and call you and urge you on Terry---maybe it will guilt me into doing my own!!!!

Pamela I think we ALL do what you are referring to some--which is why we find it so hard to make a big change, like into Onederland sometimes, or past the 100 pound mark for me. I got this funky attitude, that was like who was I fooling, it would never happen, and sure enough it wouldn't have if not for you guys keeping me on track. Your newness with it all is contagious!!!

Well I either have allergies, or a cold starting up---feeling crummy. Could be some from lack of sleep, I stress when I argue with DH. Not stress from the arguement itself, but his refusal to really fight it out. I did not come from a fighting family, maybe it was my prior marriage experience that makes me want to get it all battled out and over, and he prefers not to make a big deal about it and go on. He wants to act like nothing was disagreed over. And in reality it WAS nothing, but I think I felt bad then too, and just wanted to argue with him!!! Oh well, after all these years and my history you would think I would like his lack of fight---but it usually works the opposite, it irritates the heck outta me!

I have dinner in the oven, my DD said it smelled great---I cannot smell anything....

Tracy--pics look great!!! You've come a long way Baby!!

(I may be the only one who remembers that commercial!!!)

Ok, earlier I told you about my crazy neighbor---well I have another crazy to tell you about!!!

As most of you know, MY oldest (DS) and my youngest DD are technically my step kids, I just raised them, I did not birth them! Well their Mom is a nutcase...certifiable....hospitalized on the psych ward more than once. But overall a pretty easy person to deal with the last decade or so. Well she has been seeing a guy that Rick and I went to school with that we really like, and things have been so much easier on the kids---they are making an effort. Well now they are going to Vegas next month and getting married. They want the kids there---well they are both grown and married, can go if they want. They extended the same invite to my DD---they really ARE trying to make nice. So I start thinking she is less crazy...hahahaha!!!! Today my DIL comes by and says that the Mom--they call her Heidi, not Mom, but that Heidi's sister called and said they are giving her a bridal shower....she is 46, this is marriage #3 or 4.....and here ya go....here is the kicker......she is registered.... at the local porn shop!!! I SWEAR!!!! DIL is saying I am NOT going in there!!!! And especially not with Abbey (DD)!!!! She says I do NOT want to think of her that way!!! Her freaking out was hilarious!!! Had me laughing so hard the grandkids joined in!!!

Some days I feel down right normal!

Ok off to put finishing touches on dinner....

Kat

hey all

I hope everyone is having a good night, Tomorrow is another day ladies

Business is slow so I'm home early again. What am I going to do? I so need a day job that pays decent money. I keep calling on god, the universe, what every it is you may think, and I keep getting kicked back a step, now with no child support I can't live on this. Yes it is now up to $3100 and will be at $3400 on Friday. I don't know what the plan is but there has to be one. I am trying.

anyway, off to bed, have to get up and hit the gym in the morning then run to get copies of stuff for my insurance and stuff.

Kat - thanks for the list!

You guys are the best!

Ohhhh I'm having the WORST slime ever.

At first I thought it was like I'm gettin sick and had flem all backed up, but soon realized it was sliming!

Wasn't too hungry and didn't feel like cooking, so was looking in the fridge for something high Protein low cal.. DH keeps lunch meats for sammiches, so I took a couple ounces of thin sliced turkey meat..

Ate it slow, chewed chewed.. by the 5th bite, it felt weird.. kinda hurt.. so I stopped eating. Then I started feeling like my throat was full of flem.. tried to get it out, wasn't working.. watched some tv, then felt the urge to "spit up"..so went to trash can, and up it came. Along with slime.. and the slime isn't stopping! I've been spitting into a cup for a while, never had it last thing long. UGH!

But it's weird, then I remember months ago reading a thread about deli meat getting stuck if its that processed stuff. I don't understand why.. and this stuff didn't look like the processed stuff.

In any case, this is such a weird feeling.. all this gunk in my throat :rose:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
