Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Tracy!!! Congrulations!!! I'm so happy for you!

Tracy in Galveston - Good luck with the house! I hope it looks good from the inside too...

Laura - Sounds like you're in good spirits. I'm glad that your band problem isn't keeping you down. Once you get it fixed you'll be right back to losing!

Kat - is your mouth better?

I got sick over the weekend. I'm completely congested and having sinus pain. What can I take that is band-friendly? I've been on Tylenol for about two days now but it's not really helping my congestion... ( btw, I hate Thera Flu. Can't stomach it...)

Well, like I said I don't feel banded, I must have had some saline sticking because I would get 'stuck' occasionally.. but since they did contrast and took EVERYTHING out, I don't get stuck, I don't feel anything..no matter what I'm eating.

They said they would do surgery this week, and my fingers are crossed that they meant it, because my scale said 289 last night.. I'm gaining :)

I'm still doing myplate (and resenting myself), I had 2300 calories yesterday--and I could have stayed under my goal if I hadn't eaten the stupid Cherry Turnover from Arby's.. I have been turning my nose up at them for months, and some reason I just had to have it yesterday. I'm a bad example of you violets right now!! Hopefully, I'll be back to working and being positive and motivated soon.

I have my cell phone on my desk and I keep looking at it, waiting for a call. They had to wait till someone got back in town today to call Allergen about warranties.

Just because I noticed it today, so hm...

I am 289 according to scale last night.. but those sexy jeans that I never wore in my life until a month or so ago? Well, I can wear them, and they fit fine, but because my stomach is so flabby now, the muffin top is bad. So I have to wear bigger shirts with these pants.

I washed the sexy jeans, and have been avoiding them.. you know how jeans shrink in the wash..

Today I wore them, and they're not too tight at all, and my muffin top seems a lot less. I still wore a baggy shirt, because there IS a muffin top, but it's not too bad. So, maybe I lose more inches even though my weight isn't making me happy.

smly: WELCOME... all you need to do is post!

Because of the changes to the new board layout.. my original post has to be left alone.. or else it puts all kinds of formating language in it....

We are just about as diverse as you can get.............. the only rule is to be nice to each other.......... :)

boy oh boy;.... I should of KNOWN not to eat ANYTHING today........

my stomach is still doing flip flops..I decided that I should at least go find a new blouse or SOMETHING... so I went to the ONLY non-Mart store in this town........ I tried on 10 shirts all varying colors and styles of red..(someone told me last week that RED was MY color).......... I knew shopping wouldn't be good while I'm in between sizes and sheesh.. wedding day and all............. so I guess the good news is that the 14/16's did FIT, albeit a little snug............. but all I did was get stressed... so I went home to take a bite of lunch......... WRONG... spit it all right back up....... I changed to black slacks and flats so maybe I'll try a MART right after a leave to see if anything strikes me.

Hi Girls! (any guys?) Glad I found you! I was banded 4/03/07 and have lost 46 lbs so far, but having quite a stall lately and eating tooo much...sooooo having a fill today. I have a couple friends from the WA state group who have lost tons more than me in less time, so I get a little discouraged, even though I know we're all at our own pace, and we each have specific food issues to get over. I think I'm having a hard time "letting" myself get below 200. Don't quite know what that's about.....Hopefully with a new fill I'll get past that and find it was no big deal.

Talk back to you all soon!

Merrillee

Thanks Judy, I'll run and get some Drixoral and try that. My nose won't stop running...

Hi Merrillee! Don't get discouraged! You're losing, not gaining and that's the important part. We all get caught up in how many pounds everyone else is losing, including me, but we have to realize that our body lets go of lbs in different ways... If you've lost 46 then you're doing great!

Hi there Smyly, glad to have you here...

Hi new violets!!

So, I went to look at the house and the inside is nice. It is a good size house which is what we need and it has really been taken care of...BUT, I have only 2 issues I am dealing with:#1 The landlord wants 2,200.00 like now...#2 I have never seen a green bathtub & toilet in my life....and I mean green...do you hear me? GREEN.....

OK, so I am sorry to any of you that DO have a green bathtub, really I am, I don't mean to offend anyone, but green? SO, I could make it work I guess, not given any other option in the matter. It would be different if it were a pretty color green, but it isn't!!! It looks like a martian threw up in there!! OMG, I guess I could overlook it considering I really like the house & location. What to do, what to do....

I will talk to my DH when he gets home but I think the woman must have smoked crack or something wanting all the money at once and she is not willing to prorate the rent even if we move in in the middle of the month of October. It would not be prorated until November rent is due. Good GOD.... I really want the house (with the green tub & toilet) but we will just have to see if the finances say its OK to do it. We could, but we would suffer for a little while and I can not eat bologna sandwiches anymore, so wtf would I do? Bologna with no bread, not even!!! I do not mean to make it sound like we are on skid row but yikes, I hate to part with that kind of money all at once, even when we go on vacation!! Something is telling me to grab it up, but something else is telling me to wait. I just don't know.

congratulations tracy!!!!!!!!! May you have much love & happiness!!!

everyone have a great evening!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
