I am sipping on a doctored up Isopure drink..... (I had a couple left over from pre op) ISO + sf koolaid ice and water........ its OK but NOT Kat's Glugs GLugs!

So far I've had a doctored up Protein Shake and this........... I am determined to get my Protein in today (I've been slacking with crap food) So THIS fill I am going to attempt to follow the rules. It doesn't help that I am hungry right now........

I'm going to attempt to make some fresh salsa tonight....... as I have a supply of fresh from the vine tomatoes..... anyone have a favorite recipe? I KNOW someone posted befor.. but I can't remember.

I have this stuff, I got it from TastefullySimple. They have the best spices.. It is Salsa seasoning, you add to tomatoes, onions, or what ever you want in there and YUMMY.

I know they have seasoning mixes in the grocery store too, either in the mexican isle or where the packets of different seasons are.

I forgot how to make from scratch...

I too buy pre packaged spice mix. We buy it from a local lady, she used to have a Mexican restaurant, now she sells spices etc. She has mild and hot. I find the mild to be plenty hot!!! Plus we add jalapeno, and often a habanero to the mix, and our cilantro, and garlic and blend, then we add the chunky tomatoes, so that it isn't a smooth mix, but the hot, as well as the big flavors, are well blended throughout. Then we pressure it. My problem this year, is I have given so much stuff away---I have no jars, and am not willing to pay what they want for jars....it ends up costing as much as simply buying it!!! BUT I will for the salsa---we like it a lot better. But for the Beans, and such? Forget it!!!

I have to say that I AM amazed that I'm not about to pass out from hunger considering how little I've eaten the last 3 days. I just miss solid food....vegetables especially. I'd kill to be able to eat a nice chunky bowl of veggie Soup.

Oh well, I signed on for this!

Guess what??! I had a massage on Saturday and the masseuse screwed up my lower back!!!!!!!!! I am in pain! I just can't believe this. I feel like calling them and telling them I want my %*#&! money back!

Laura - speaking of backs...how's yours lately?

I mentioned my HUGE headache.... and without really thinking I popped a liquidgel Aleave (my doc has no problem with aleave) you guessed it........ the liquid gel thing felt like it got stuck........so I went down to the sisters dining room and got a cup full of STRONG probably THIS MORNINGS coffee thinking caffiene and heat would melt that sucker and let it pass........ OH MY........ coffee is nasty but I am unstuck. Headache is hinting at subsiding and its getting close to quitting time.

I am having Soup tonight...... maybe Tomato. Terry what are you having?

Where is Judy? I thought she was back?

You guys are funny, I did 4 days of Protein Shakes last week but had a small bowl of lettuce and tuna with it for dinner. I ate this weekend and just had a steak and some zucunni. Tomorrow is Protein Shake and salad again for the rest of the week.

I am not a Soup fan, love my black bean soup and that is about it.

Judy... maybe getting ready for her 2nd vacation????? Lucky duck LOL

Oh, I LOVE soup! All kinds! Tonight I'm going to have broccoli cheese Soup. I bought some good ready-made at the store last night. I even have to chew the broccoli bits to shreds! :) Tomato sounds good, too! I have some of that in the pantry as well. I'm gonna have to go with the highest protein...I think I've only got like 35g today so far.

hi everyone-

Let me share somethng cause I want to see if this is just me or if you all are feeling the same way....this does not happen often, but last night I cried....i missed food. I mean the food we used to eat. My DH asked me what was wrong and I told him that I was eating the same old crap all the time. He asked what I wanted and I said "everything I am not supposed to have. A sandwich, a big plate of spaghetti, boudain, a bowl of rice & gravy, a big bowl of blue bell ice cream, Mac & cheese....not to mention a cheeseburger". I had a really difficult time. They are like "old friends" and I missed them. I was SO depressed. Can't blame it TOM, that is over for now. This has to be a normal feeling, right? Bottom line is I don't miss that stuff enough to blow it. I will take the weight loss over the fat ass anyday. It is just that sometimes, I miss food. Any thoughts? Am I by myself on this one?

didn't I put x friend???/

that is the neighbor I've mentioned who will not talk to me anymore since surgery and said I only cared about myself and was a horrible person. I miss our friendship but have grown so much over the past 4 months that I know she was not a true friend - but someone who was holding me back.

It just really sucks that she can't suck it up for the kids and be civil at cheerleading - Oh well

TracyK - I don't get that depressed about food but sometimes I do miss it. I love sauce and work in a pizza shop!!! I made pizza using a slice of eggplant instead of bread and was satisfied. Started getting pitas so I can have a sandwich. Throw some stuff out there... I'll ponder some ways to alter it ... I love to cook and am good at it.

I do miss drinking like that some times. I use to drink a lot, every day 2-3 drinks. not beer. vodka...tequila... good stuff... strong stuff. For me to have 1 small drink is a major accomplishment for me, when I use to go out I would have 8-9 doubles. I could not go out without dropping $50 on drinks alone. I cried and cried a couple weeks ago about missing that, and then had bf issue and had 1 drink. I have had 3 total in 4 months and they were all recently. So no you are not alone

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
