Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hey Donna,

I was banded on the 3rd too!!! Welcome to our little slice of cyber support. So many others have lost lots, but I am still at the -23 from the beginning! Oh well, I eat and work out, but I am not always a good bandster. Waiting for a Bracelet to remind me to folow the bandster rules. 37 is impressive! Anyway, welcome to the Shrinking Violets!!! Some of us shrink more quickly than others, but hey...none of us has gained any (and no, the 2-3 Water and period pounds do not count).

Wow, so many people I want to talk to and so little time...

TracyKS-woohooo for the 220somethings....I am so happy for you!!

Terri-I know what you are going through. I am a smoker too. I am not going to try to quit untlil I am almost at my goal weight. I know my limits and quitting now???...that would definitely push me strait over the edge. Best of luck to you!!

Jenn-congrats on the inches!! YAY YOU!!

Pamela-thanks for the tip about the you tube clips for BB. I will do it over the weekend when I have some time.

My good news is that as of this morning I had not gotten my TOM yet so I jumped on the scales and I still lost a pound today to 208....so Water weight or not, it still went down...how cool is that!!

Everyone have a great evening!!

Jen & Tracy - Congrats to you both!! Life is good!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm hanging in there. I have an earache, my quads are killing me from doing lunges yesterday, I'm hungry (but I'm already at 1000 cals for the day) and I'm cranky as hell. Other than that, I'm fine. :)

Terry - You have 100% of my support. You deserve it - and I know you will do fine, you are a strong woman. Fortunatelly for me, I was so sick when I was pregnant with my 13 year old I was forced to quit and not smoked since, ok occasionally with the shots of tequila LOL

You all are doing so wonderful. I am going to have something bad for me, I'm not quite sure what that is yet, but it is going to be bad. I am going to start liquid diet tomorrow so I want to get the tom craving out of the way today. once a month i will give myself and not feel guilty.

Hey Girls!!!

I have survived the week---omg, I am so tired, and so sore, I can hardly move!

Monday, we mixed and poured a 4 foot by 30 foot section of cement, about 6-8 inches deep. To do that it takes 800 pounds of cement mix, and over 1 ton (yep 2000 pounds) of sand and gravel, as well as all the Water.

Tuesday we hauled a truck and trailer load of firewood in for my parents. It was in the neighborhood of 2 cords.

Wednesday we poured another slab of cement, same dimensions as above. I move all of that a can at a time!!!! Exercise done!!!

Thursday, we repeated Tuesdays wood hauling only this truck/trailer went to my inlaws, and I unloaded most of it, while Rick dealt with a problem bull.

Friday was my birthday, and we got the hell out of town!!! WE rode to Colorado with our friends, and camped out at a lake up there, and went to a nice dinner, then Saturday night we hit the casino, I come out $187.00 ahead, subtracting the $13.00 I spent getting there!!! We hung out at camp, and played some dominoes, had some serious down time!!! We took some scenic rides, got some amazing pictures of elk---they are getting ready to mate, and the bulls were bugleing, and banging against one another--very cool!!

We come home Sunday, went to a family dinner---for all of us with August birthdays, we had a big Navajo taco dinner. They are made with fry bread....similar to a deep fried tortilla, a bit heavier. Smothered with chili Beans, lettuce, onions, Tomato, sour cream, guacamole. I had a wedge about 2 inches by 3 inches. Others were eating plates full---the fry bread is about the size of a plate---I used to do the same!!!

Today we were back at it---we hauled in another 2-21/2 cords of firewood, this is for us. So when we got it home, we split it and stacked it in our new (and fully cemented) woodshed!!!

Tomorrow is Ricks last day off...we were supposed to take our DIL to Albuquerque to the airport, she is flying to Tuscon to see her Granndma/Mom---technically her Gma, but she was raised by her so considers her Mom. Our son is in Houston at a work seminar for 2 weeks, and she refused to stay home alone, so is going to visit at the same time, which will work out well. But she decided to put her car in the long term parking so she will have it when she gets back. I have to admit, I am very glad!!! I was not thrilled with going!

Sara---your pics look wonderful! Were you nervous to post them? I was!

I loved reading about all of your NSV's---I am so glad you guys are hanging in there---it will happen for all of you! I know it!!!

Terry--- I quit smoking on April 1st, 1991. I began when I was 15. Smoked for 15 years---and decided as aNew Years resolution to quit. I had read that you pick a day and tell everyone, then do it. So I picked April 1st. In the back of my mind, I knew if I wimped out, I could say it was an April Fools joke!!! Then my DD come home and told me her Dad said I would never be able to quit. Told her I complained too much about quitting when I was PG with her! That was it, I HAD to quit, I credit him with giving me the gumption needed to really quit. Smoked my last one, at 11:58 PM the night before! Cold Turkey! My best friend (the one we bike with) quit with me, and she only made it 3 days---she too is now taking the Chantix, and had her last cigarette on last Thursday. This was the first time we rode anywhere and did not have to wait while Becky smoked! My DD also quit using Chantix. It worked for her! She said she had some really wierd dreams, but no issue with weight gain. Becky said she is having problems with Constipation, and digestive issues. But that is temporary!

It was not easy, but so worth it!!! I quit back when they were a buck and a quarter a pack---they are truly outrageous now!!! Good Luck, we will understand a bit of grouchiness, and whining---we will support you fully!!!

Tracy glad you are back---thanks for noticing all the new avatars!! I was a nervous wreck while Terry helped me post my new pics!!!

How are wedding plans going???

Well girls, Rick has patiently waited to check his ebay things, so guess I will let him have the computer. DD has my laptop---so we are sharing!!!

Will talk to you all soon---Terry thanks for missing me girl--you are so sweet!!!

Kat

G'Morning all!

Kat= I was about to send the police out looking for you! Jeez-o-man, I wonder how many calories you burned last week??? I'd be in the hospital if I had to do all that! Tell Rick that next time he gets a week off you want to go to Bermuda or something! That's NO vacation! LOL I am SO grateful to have Chantix to lean on. I never, never could quit cold turkey...that's why I could never quit before these drugs came out. I quit in 2003 with Wellbutrin and now with Chantix. Cold turkey is just too hard for me. Sara's going cold turkey today, ya'll, so please give her lots of support!! (We're quit buddies and emailing back and forth.)

I'm very grouchy today. Thank goodness nobody is here at the office and it's a quiet day. When I told DH I quit smoking yesterday, he said "Oh." He abhores my smoking. You'd think I'd get a little more support than that, eh?

He's been with his current employer for 12 years.. and I'm tired of listening to him complain..... He just called to say that he talked to his boss and also accepted the new offer............ Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
