Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Good Sunday morn, ladies~~

Today is the ice cream party day, and of course, after a summer of near-record high temps & drought, the day I invite 40+ folks over for ice cream OUTSIDE, it's 60s & raining! Now THAT sums up my luck in a nutshell! HA! So it's "clean the house like a maniac" day here, + not each much all day so I can enjoy some ic later... I did WIN it after all! (PS -- anyone who wanted coupons, I'll pop them in the mail this week!)

Judy... Exactly how does the pastor's wife skip church? Wouldn't he notice?? Too funny!

TracyKS... Pictures!!

Sara... You are beautiful! I can see you personality bubbling through your pics, esp the second one!

Jenn... You go girl!!!

Hi Terry!

Time to go dust & vac & scrub... DH thinks I'm funny for doing what he calls "deep" cleaning (uh, hello, I do this every week, duh! (only he's usually at work when I do it, he must think we have helpful house elves or something ha ha ha!)) only to have 1/2 the neighborhood come over to eat ice cream & mess up the place! I tell him it's a girl thing. Altho, he may have a point -- but don't you dare tell him I said so!

Make it a great one, everyone!

Josie - I'm that person in HEB! I'll stand blocking the aisles, in my own little world. I always put the twinkies back on the shelf though! ;) How was the BBQ, did you eat anything? Pappa's BBQ has the most tender brisket and I've never had trouble with it, even when I'm tight.

Terri - I tried beef Jerky yesterday. It went great. No sticking!

Well the moving is going sloooowww. They cut the electricity at my new house the day after we closed and they won't turn it back on until Wednesday. We're having to do some minor repairs and cleaning but with no A/C there we are having to do it in little intervals.

Well gotta get back to work, my packing nazi (boyfriend) is yelling at me from the garage...

NSV alert.. NSV alert!!!! I just got back from shopping at Penney's and got 3 pair of jeans. The first two are Gloria Vanderbilt.. one a size 18 and the other a size 16 cause the 18's won't fit long and they were on sale. And I'm talking REGULAR MISSES sizes here!! AND.. I got a pair of Cabin Creek pull on jeans in a size..... drumroll here..............12!!!

I haven't been that size since I don't remember when. Course Cabin Creek must run big, but I don't care... it's the number that I see on the tag that counts!!!

Mdrai...ummmmmmmm I put a cardboard cutout of myself in the pew????? Actually he knew I was skipping and he made intercession so the lightning bolt won't strike me dead on. whew.

Hey Violets~

Judy and Terri~ Love Love Love the new pix. You both look happy.

TracyK~ BB...oooo man...I am such a fan. It is my summer guilty pleasure (has been for 8 years). I pay for the live feeds and I also Tivo the showtime stuff. We disagree on Dick wad but it is cool to meet another fan!!! There is a thread on BB I think in the Lounge (near the Rants and Raves).

Congrats on all the NSV...the new panties...the smaller sizes...shit, you guys are dissappearing before our puters (eyes). I hope you still associate w/ us slower losers when you reach goal. My goal is 180, a few of you are already there. Congrats again...xoxo

TracyK - you are blowing me away - I need to get my butt in gear to catch up. What have you been doing? I've been stuck. When TOM is gone I'm doing a 3 day liquid diet like post fill, I'm still not eating lots so it should be easy.

Anyway. tomorrow is a huge day, shopping with dad and all older granddaughters and then taking ds to a church baseball game. going to be a busy day off.

TracyKS-you and your friend look like you could be a handful when you get together!! You look awesome!

Jenn-I am doing the same thing I always do. Eat about 800-900 calories a day and plenty of Protein. Sorry that you ae stuck. I know how that sucks. My TOM has not started yet, but I sure it will be any day now.

Pamela-you get the BB live feed? I wish I did. I am a die hard fan too.

Everyone have a great Monday!!

Well, I'm up. I feel like I just went to bed. YUCK

I have started bringing food to the pizza shop with me. I find it is better if I'm going to pick if I have stuff I can eat. and this tom is bad, I actually made a pizza out of a pita last night 45cal whole grain crust, lots of sauce and a little cheese and onions. It was different but the first time I had an actual slice of pizza.

So my hair is still falling out. Not as bad but it is, and today for the first time i noticed how thin it is getting. Anyone else still having hair problems?

Today was measurement day. The numbers may be slowing down, but... 46 inches lost!!!

have a great day all

Good morning, Violets!!!

Well, it's a new day, a new week and a new adventure. We leave today at 3;30 to head to Detroit and then tomorrow morning we fly out to Orlando and our Disney adventure. I'm really excited about spending time with the family and being able to enjoy all the walking and rides!!! At 55# ago, I would have been dreading the activity and the worry about what to wear in the heat. Now, I have to go over the things I want to pack cause I have too many choices!! Never ever wore tank tops before and now I have 3 of them packed AND a skort... it's totally unreal to me!! When I calculated my BMI online last night, it said I was "slightly overweight" rather than seriously obese! Now THAT'S amazing to me!!! I know I still have about 45# to hit -100, but it is now within reach instead of totally unreachable.

I'm off to get some things done around the house and then head to my nail appointment at noon. Everyone have a GREAT day and I'll check in just before we leave.

Remember.... WWJD??? and Patience and Trust!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
