Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

TracyK

My start was 278 and my realistic goal is 170. I'll readjust when I get to that point.

Hit 226 this weekend and that was with working too - where I usually gain and after wings for dinner.< /p>

Just a little motivation, nice to have someone in the same place.

Everyone is doing so great, this entire thread and you all are my motivatioin. Off to shower then to the gym, then running for the day and bartending classes start tonight. Tomorrow is an even longer day.

Denise.. you need to put the faces part of your signature right under the rest of your signature.. not to the side. That makes the page wide and you have to slide the bar at the bottom to see the other posts. Because yours is wider, the posts are wider. Just move everything to one side in your signature and we'll be back to normal... whatever that is!! lol

That's soooooooooo weird! On my page everything is lined up correctly...I deleted the butterfly - did that do it?? In the UserCP everything is on the left side and the signature is above the picture, not next to it....Hopefully removing the butterfly worked. Let me know! :help:

Thank you, Denise! I am a complete computer idiot, so I don't understand why on some people's screens it would look fine, and on others (like mine) it would make everything stretch out... but whatever you did, worked, so thank you!

scale was UP today... first time in a month... I think it's to be expected as I am adding "real" food back into the mix... but wow those old feelings of failure come flooding back!... much more mental work to be done... + now learning good food choices, etc... the fun just never ends, huh? As much as I am sick & tired of the liquid phase, it has been easy as far as choices & weight dropping off... now the real work begins, I guess!

Lunasa... where are you?????

Everyone have a great day!

Denise: I'm thinking of finding one of those classes.... YOU are REALLY inspiring me! ;)

Michelle: Dont sweat the pizza.. I think you did wonderful to only eat one piece!

Denise.. Whatever you did worked. We're back to normal again.. lol

I've had my Breakfast and now, an hour later, I'm starting to work on my Crystal Light. I have a flute rehearsal at 11 and then will get back to trimming the front yard and getting the last of my plants in. The sun is shining today so I'm hoping the pool stays warm so I can get in this afternoon and do my Water aerobics. It's a great workout.

Everyone have a great day. I'll check back in later.

Hi Ladies!!

I'm back from the deep...:peace:

Well George michael Cancelled the concert on us!!! :noidea:

WHAT A MEANER!!!!:drama:

Technical difficulties...my arse..what a let down!!;)

Still, I went out, got pissed and then came home & fell down the stairs, so I blame him for the MASSIVE bruise I now have on my arse!

I'm dying to know how the fill changes things.

I'm going for my first tomorrow. I feel I've no restriction and I miss that SO SO much!! ;)

Last week I drank 3 nights of the week...(yes Alcohol) will I ever learn? So as always with my hangover came MAJOR cravings and I have to admit I succumbed. I turned to the dreaded Crisps (potato chips) and had a nasty enough week. I gained a pound for my sins!! LOL

I have yet to get off my ass and excercise. I'm hesitating because I don't want to struggle with "walking" I'm afraid it'll make me feel so unfit and like I've a mountain to climb. I always get pissed off when I'm huffing & puffing and I'm afraid it'll remind me how much work I have to do.

But in saying all that I guess I don't have to go out pounding the pavements, if I started off strolling at least I might enjoy myself (?)

I have associated walking & excercise with negative feelings about my body & my mind tends to go into negative mode as soon as I put my runners on! I immediatly start fretting in my mind and dreading every step!!

But in order to break through this "plateau" I've been bouncing on for the last MONTH I guess excercise is yer only man!! God somebody help me!!!

I'm hoping the fill will bring down my portion size again and help me enforce the rules better, I'm being a bold girl now because I can (if I'm to be honest here) and because I expected more from this band.

I understand it is unfilled at the moment and that is the only thing that's keeping me from cracking up & feeling like I've wasted my money on a useless piece of plastic! LOL

I did not get this surgery done to be plunged back into DIET mode..that's what drove me mad enough to go under the knife in the first place!! My goodness, I'm finished my rant now...

Thanks for keeping in touch & sharing so far girls..grin.gif

Good luck to us all. I'll report on my fill ASAP..xx<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

P.s... I get the drift that Terri is having some difficulty...

Hang in there girl...despite what you may berate yourself about, you look and are doing great.

let me just tell you that in my brief & former life as a gym training and skinnier me I worked out HARD 5 days a week with a trainer, for 6 months solid. I only lost 6lbs on the scales but my inches lost were huge, my body fat went from 26% to 20% and I went down from a US size 10-12 to an 8..Remember the scales is not the best indicator when you're working out. It can be VERY deceiving. So I suggest to you that you get one of the trainers to take a body fat reading WITH A CALIPERS not on a scale...calipers is more accurate and you may find it more rewarding..xx Keep the chin up..xx

Mornin' guys!

Yesterday we went by our house, we're suppose to close in a little over a week..

They still aren't locking the house up??? I don't understand why.

They have all the fixtures and appliances put in.

Anyway, so we go by and it's been vandalized ;)

Someone left a white paint can, and so someone else took the can and painted some of our dark red bricks white.. and THEN dumped the can to spill all over our doorway, and then on the hardwood foyer, as soon as you open the front door it says '666'.

STUPID KIDS. I told fiance we need a gun.. I would love to be there when people vandalize my stuff, shoot them in the foot.

This happened when I got my sports car. A month after I got it, fiance was out of town, I was asleep.. cops knock on my door, say some guy was drunk and took a hammer to my car.. MY BRAND NEW CONVERTIBLE.

They got the guy, he was sitting on the sidewalk in handcuffs. Oh man, I wished I caught him before the cops did. He collapsed my top, dented in the curves of my hood, knocked off my mirrors, bled all down the windows (think he took the mirrors off with his face).

It cost me 1k to fix the car (deductible). I sued him for it, I won, but he had like 10 other cases against him (looked up his record), and he doesn't pay them.. so I have a judgement for 3k, but I don't plan on ever getting it. Meanwhile, he walks the streets. The cops didn't even arrest him that day, they just took him home.

GRRRR.

Ok done ranting, I just hate people's lack of respect for other's.

Violets, Now that I am on summer break I'll be able to keep up with everyone. Laura, I'm so sorry to hear about the vandalism on your house. The builder should be responsible since you haven't closed yet. Hopefully he'll make it right.

Kat, you and your husband are in my prayers. T

I have decided that today is the day I start making better choices. So far, so good! It helped hearing where you all are. I am so far behind. My last fill finally gave me a little restriction. That will help!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Hey everyone.

Glad to see everyone back and recovering from the weekend.

Laura... I think you might have my luck. I'm sorry about your new house, that must be so frustrating, Builders should have insurance to cover that. Not that it makes it any better. Remember that is what I did for a living, new construction so if you have any strange questions, ask away.

So, how is this, I can't get a real job but I have a bartending interview tomorrow and going on a nother one in a few minutes. Not what I want to do full time but man, it could be good money while i find the perfect day job. Maybe even meet my knight in shining armor??? LOL

Laura - ;) I'm sorry, honey. That must be a horrible feeling. I have a friend that went thru a similar experience here. They were days away from closing and their brand new $400K house was all ready. The builder had put in all the landscaping and grass. They "water in" the grass around the clock for a day or two. Somebody had taken the sprinkler and put it inside the front door!! It ruined the hardwoods, woodwork and the fortune in faux painting they had done in the dining room & kitchen!!! The house took months to repair so our friends had to find another one. They figure it was a disgruntled worker. Grrr. One of my co-workers had his house papered last night. They also spray painted all means of obscenities on his driveway. Just horrible. His kids go to a Christian private school and he is on the board as well. Nice, huh?

Judy - I thought you finished your beds yesterday or day before!?! Man, how many flowers to you plant, woman?? You must send pics....it must be lovely!

Lunasa - Thanks for the encouragement. My calculated BMI is 30.8 or something. The electronic analyzer at the gym says it's 39.1%!!!!! HUH?? I like the calculation method better! 39.1%!!!??!? That's just downright depressing!

I'm not going to lecture you about exercise, but before I became addicted I did have to 'force' myself to go. My mantra is just "Feet On Floor"....which is a code for me to just keep putting one foot in front of the other all the way to the gym and before I'm 5 minutes into my workout I am SO glad I went. Repeat daily! ;) Before you know it, you're addicted 'cause you just feel so much better. Guilt-free and more energy, too. Gotta love that! I ALWAYS used to come home from work and just collapse in my chair 'til DH got home. Eat dinner then collapse again. I get all kinds of things accomplished in the evenings now. Way cool.

Good luck with your fill!!!

Well they are liable and do have to fix it, I'm not worried about that.

What sucks is we're renting right now, we turned in our move notice, our close is June 22, if they have to fix the brick, cement, and redo the carpet (they will, red clay is not coming out of white carpet), and the foyer that was painted.. it might move our close date, which is a huge inconvenience for us. scheduling this with our mortgage company was a big enough pain in the ass as it is.. without having delays due to stupidity. I do blame the builders though, who leaves a paint bucket in a construction site with all 3 doors wide open???

I'm just baffled, since the appliances are in, the light fixtures (Chandelier, ceiling fans) are in.. why on earth would the house be unlocked. They even boast how they put our frame together in a warehouse so they the lumber isn't stolen from the job site.. yet when the house is a week from closing they have no door knobs on the doors and they are all wide open? Sheesh.

They will be fixing it, I just don't need any delays.. We need to be moved in before we leave on July 5th for the wedding!

I am scheduled for my first fill on June 21st, a lttle nervous. I hate the fact that I will have to drink those shakes for a day. The two weeks was bad enough. But I guess at least it's only one day and not another two weeks. Only one day out of a lifetime.

Is anyone out there going to the support group meeting in Worcester, MA on June 28th? Please let me know so I can look for you. Thanks.:clap2:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
