Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Weather report says 3-7 more inches of snow today with blizzard conditions.. yikes!! Several churches have cancelled their services this morning, but they are the ones out in the country. I just hope enough of my choir members can make it in today!

I had a problem at K-Mart last night. But it's a nice problem. I looked at a pretty Christmas sweatshirt in the Misses section and it was an XL. I held it up and said to mysef.. this will be tight, it won't fit now, but will later and it's half off. Soooo I bought it, brought it home, tried it on and it fit with plenty of room. I just can't seem to wrap my brain around the fact that I can wear normal sizes now. I look at something and it looks so small compared to what I was used to for years and years. So I'm dressed in my new Christmas shirt, green corduroys size 16 and my snazzy green and red striped socks. Wish me luck at the pageant.. heck, wish me luck just getting to church this morning!!

TTFN....

Judy-- I kind of have that same problem with thinking that I'm still a larger size. How happy you must have been to find that the top fit you. Don't forget to take a picture for us. Also, what are these little angel charms you are talking about?

Kat-- Loved reading that story and tell Kinsey for us that even though we have never met or seen her, we think she is just beautiful. That was so touching for the Santa to have said those things to her. How sweet.

Hubby just got the fireplace going for me. It's bitter here this morning. Right now 14 degrees. We ended up getting more snow in the afternoon. I went to lunch with the girls from work and it snowed the whole time. We I went to leave hubby caled and said he was worried. I told him I would call every ten minutes. It was a mess and there was so much traffic out. Even as awful as it was, we were still moving along at a pretty good speed. Took me about an extra 15 minutes to get home. We shoveled the driveway and laid down some salt. It was freezing out.

Jane-- Stay safe in the snow you are getting. If you have to get out, just take it nice and slow.

TracyKS-- How much snow did you guys end up getting? We only got about 2 and a half inches here.

Everyone have a great day and I'll check in later.

Good Sunday Morn, Vi's~~

We didn't get the storm... just rain... yay! I am not a winter wonderland type of gal... give me sun & fun any day!! Good luck to all of you who are getting it!!

A quiet day planned for today -- NO appointments/games/errands to do! Amazing! But will be cleaning/organizing & making my FINAL Xmas list & plan of attack to get it all done next week.

I've been eating out-of-control since Thursday... am going to TRY to do shakes today & get back to my "routine" eating this week... not getting on the scale... I guess if we get through the holiday season w/out a gain, that is an accomplishment, huh?? (Think what it would've been on Jan 1 if we WEREN'T banded!! :) )

Make it a great day, everyone!!

Oh, PS -- DS didn't make the third cut after yesterday's try-out... but we are so very proud that he tried & of how far he DID make it.

Morning Violets~

Kat~ I hate little bratty kids. The brat will get hers. I hope that will all the excitement, Kinsey doesn't remember what that idiot said. If my child would've said that to another child, I would have made her say sorry andpunished her w/ something. I love what Santa did. When I taught 1st grade, I would hold up my cell and tell the kids, you better be good or I will call Santa right now. I even "faked" a few calls...it really freaked them out. Then of course, I'd call Santa back and tell him they were being good now and that all is ok;).

TracyK~ Deep Breaths honey. That is all I can say. That and oh yeah...hook up the internet FIRST in the new house. How exciting for 2008 for you!

Judy~ I don't know how you all drive in the snow. When I was in Reno, I never drove in the snow...toooo scared. Then one morning, I was driving a friend back to the bar (hey, I was in my 20's) where we had to leave her car and take a cab because it was snowing so bad...and I totalled my car going 15 mph. I hit a brand new car w/ dealer plates. Hit that patch of ice and whamo!

Michelle~ Tell ds we are proud of him too. I showed Susanne your pic card and told her he was trying out! Proud Aunt Violet!

Gotta go do some work on the puter!:ranger:

Have a great day!

We got a total of 3 inches on top of the ice from last week... makes it really pretty and gives the boys something to do outside.. the problem is they get cold and come back inside fighting....... I'm about at my wits end today with all the selfish spoiled stupid fighting........ and this house is a complete disaster which stresses me out and makes me grumpy..... I get extremely bitchy when I'm the only one who cares about the mess and then I end up being the one that cleans for 6 people.. and don't get me started on the laundry... yeah I'm grumpy because I just finished giving them a lecture on being selfish and spoiled.. and the 7 year old just rolled his eyes (this is the one that routinely throws himself on the ground and flops around yelling at the top of his lungs.. even in public) so.. as you can imagine the eye rolling just about sent me over the edge......... I am so tired of yelling I am sooooooooooo very tired of their disrespectful attitudes.. (Last night they laughed at their father when he was disiplining them) so at 9p.m. on a saturday we all went to bed... it wasn't until he forced them into their rooms to bed that they got a clue......... SORRY FOR THE VENT but I'm about ready to lose my patience..........

Kat: I swear you need to write a book!

Denise: I LOVED THE PIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EVERYONE: have a great rest of the day.. I have a pot of chili that needs my attention.

Tracy, the eye rolling would send me over the edge also!!! But I have to admit I am an eye roller myself! Yikes!!

Denise, that was a wonderful picture of you and your husband!! Is that a painting they have you standing in front of?

Judy, way cheap on the tickets!!! That is WONDERFUL!!! It is go great to find specials like that, especially this time of the year!!

TracyK I will be thinking of you over the next couple weeks!! I moved once on the 23rd of December, that was fun!! (NOT)!

Everyone have a great day, I wish I was able to post pictures but when I got up this morning I over look some trees and a little creek and then some more condos, what a view with the snow!!! Incredibly beautiful!!!! By the time I will get out it will all be cleared, I am sure my area is cleared now, it is so nice having a condo fee to pay and they do it pronto!!

Tracy-poor thing! I can not even imagine having to deal with a group!! One is enough for me! I feel for you!

Pamela-The internet is supposed to be hooked up the same day we move....thank GOD!

SnowViolets-more power to you for having to deal with the snow, much less drive in it! I will send WARM thoughts your way :)

Judy-great NSV! That is so awesome!

In my rambling of sh*t I have to do...I forgot these things #1 Shop for Christmas #2. Wrap the stuff. #3. Bake Cookies for dd school party and for my family party. Well, on the up side of it, at least I do not have to drive on icy roads, so life isn't THAT bad!

I went to wal-mart yesterday:eek:. That place was a ZOO. Thank goodness for shopping carts. I was able to corral Macy in that instead of chasing her around the store.

TOM showed up today...I am having to beat myself off of the cookies I am baking.:nervous

Hope everyone is having a great one.

Judy-hope you made it to and from church OK!

Afternoon, Violets!!

Well, the pageant is history and I gotta tell you it was one of the best ever. The choir all made it there and they just amazed me with their singing today. There were some tough songs in there and they just made me proud. I sang "Mary, Did You Know?" as the liturgical dancers did their dance and it was just gorgeous. These are kids from 10 - 15 and they looked so professional. So beautiful! We had one shepherd and one horse that didn't make it in and one of the angels puked before going on, but that's all the fun parts of kids and pageants!! lol

Attached is a picture out my patio door this afternoon.

Here's a pic of me in my new shirt. I'm looking at the pants and they look kinda baggy on me, but I have to have size 16 right now cause of my belly. That's the trouble area for sure.

Suzi.. the angel charms are for my Pandora Bracelet. I have an angel charm for every 10# lost. Plus I have one special charm for 25#, 50# and hopefully one day 75# and 100#... when I get to goal I will get a gold angel charm. They just came out with the gold this year. I'll add a picture of the angel charm.

Tracy... I get in those "moods" also from time to time... my family knows to straighten up & fly right when I do!!

I'm still thinking that a visit to Pam in the winter would be nice... & warm!!

Well, I'm about 3/4 of the way through my closet + Xmas organizing... phew! I'm taking a break.

I've tried on about 10 pair of jeans that I didn't realize I even had... I started in 26/28 bottoms and now, based on my "research" today, I'm in tight but wearable (& I think maybe they're not "tight" but I'm just used to wearing stuff too big?) 20s!! Amazing! I've got a big bag of nice stuff to go to my sister's church's thrift shop & another big bag to take to the "Planet Aid" box in town & a big plastic bin w/some smaller sizes + spring/summer stuff that *might* fit next year but I hope will be too big by then. (I'm actually concerned about the WDW trip in Feb & having enough to wear that's warmer-weather appropriate! Yikes!)

Ok... enough stalling... time to finish up... & then tackle either our bathroom (yuck!) or bedroom... what a day!

Look at that snow! Wow!! That would've closed everything around here for a week! & you're just out boppin' around like it's nothing, Judy!!

Tracy... I tried to bake some Cookies yesterday... "tried" being the operative word... I put in 1 POUND of butter instead of 1 CUP... so they just oozed all over into big blobs... DH & the kids still ate them... + me, heh heh... but I threw out the rest of the batter & MIGHT try again next week... I'm a great baker so can't figure out how I did such a newbie mistake... I think Someone was watching over me & knew I didn't really need cookies in the house!

OMG.... was I sleep typing. LOL

Tracy - this is me every day... which is not helping me get out of this horrible funk I'm in. I work and do dishes and clean every day for 8-10 hrs at work and I can't get my dd to do a single thing... and I freak and cry every day but still nothing. The only way things got done today is because she didn't want to listen to grammy nag at her when she gets back tomorrow.

I made a pot of black bean/ sausage Soup today too. It is now freezing rain out

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
