Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

(((All my violets for the encouraging words!)))

I know it'll pass, but now.. right now, in this moment in time, it feels like I have to just hang my hat, this is another diet that I'm failing at.

I didn't have a GREAT day yesterday, but I didn't binge eat, so that's a start.

Made chicken for dinner, even though I'm eh about chicken. Pounded it thin and fried it with italian bread crumbs in EVOO. Chicken Pitatta I think it's called? But I didn't make a gravy for it. Had crystal light all day, 1 fruit leather (45c). Came home from work, had 1/2 banana, and 1/2 can of pineapple chunks. Ate 1/2 a chicken breast (pounded real thin so it looked HUGE) (also made canned squash with this, and I never realized canned squash is NASTY.. gimme fresh please).. so no squash. 1 big glass of unsweet tea w/sweet-n-low..Then when we went to bed, I had another fruit leather & 1/2 banana & 2 meatballs. I didn't binge.. whew.. but I still could have kept from having that late night snack. I was in bed, avoiding the late night snack.. DH came to bed with Snacks. I just started tallying calories in my head and decided a little snack won't hurt. I wish I could get a reign on my night head hunger. I'm suppose to hang up x-mas lights.. someone tell me, I know this is sad hah.. I have no idea how you hang them up!!! My parents always hired landscapers to do their lights, so when I decided to do lights this year, I bought them and I looked inside.. no directions. I have no clue how to hang these up? Are there hooks or something, what is the best way to hang up lights that you have found?

Yeah, Laura -- go to the hardware store and ask them for the hooks. There are different kinds, but i think the ones we have shove between the shingle and the eve. I'm not sure since I'm not the one who hangs them!

Oh, another thing, Laura -- aren't you concerned about reflux eating so late at night? I've had a bout or two and I want NO part of that!!!

I to have reflux if I eat late at night. Never really had this before band. I had it really really bad a couple of months ago and had to get an unfill. Now I am teetering between getting a fill and letting it go another month. It is great having an appointment every month because I know I can get a fill if I need one. Once April comes that every month is gone though... That is the one thing I had to convince myself about the band was going to the dr. once a month. I hate going to Dr.s and I had to make my mind up that if I wanted the band I had to do this. Now, I am so glad that I have this opportunity!!!

I am rambling sorry!!!

Have a nice day and remember that today is CTC day!!!!!!!!

I have chronic reflux (before surgery, since I was 10), so I take Prilosec one a day. So, I don't get reflux from anything.

We are having Manda's birthday dinner tonight, I guess Ryan has something special planned for her tomorrow night.

Good afternoon, Violets..

Kat.. good luck tomorrow and Thursday at the doctor appointments!! Hope everything goes well for you and your dad.

The Bobster and I are headed to Dunhams to look at an elliptical machine they have on sale. With that and my glider and my Sweatin to the Oldies DVDs, we'll have an entire gym upstairs in the formerly known as "guest' room. I'm thinking of canceling my Curves membership, but still kinda undecided about it.

I'm just finishing up lunch... 1/3 of a cheese stuffed brat and some veggies.

I bought my SS gift(s) today. Will get them in the mail by the end of the week. I'm excited!!

Hope everyone else is having a great day and that you all are feeling PROUD of what you have accomplished so far in spite of what seems like "speed bumps" put in our way here and there. WE CAN DO THIS!!! Look how far we've all come since last April!!!! Amazing!!!!!

well I had ONE glass of CL!

Just finished my can of Chunky Turkey Pot Pie SOUP...... (I didn't eat it all... left most of the "chunks"... I am pretty full too.

I've been kind of worried that my restriction would go by by since I had the doc tweak my fill yesterday..........

all I had was .3 of a cc put in..........I will know tomorrow when I try to eat something other than Soup.< /p>

Haydee: Sorry to hear about Juan's car! Glad he is OK :)

Laura,

Depending on what your attaching your lights too, you can also use a staple gun. One trick is to NOT push it in flat (mesh w/ the house). That way, you can get them and the lights off later. The hooks work too...depends on how many and what your gonna do w/ the lights!

peaceout

Woke up this morning and was in one of the pissy moods and on top of that, it's weigh in day. Not looking real good for me. I'm thinking I did ok for the holiday but I did alot of snacking. Everyone makes such wonderful food and you feel obligated to eat it. They tell you "Oh just take one bite, it won't hurt you". "It's the holiday, so enjoy yourself". Are they out to sabotage me or am I the one doing the sabotaging? I'm the one with all the control and I need to use it. I need to be the strong one and I am the one that WILL do this. I'm worth everything I have been thru in the last year.

Still in a pissy mood but was coming out of it after I went to weigh in. Actually managed to lose .6lbs in the last week. So I'm feeling good about that. I also seem to be in this funk that everyone else is in. And to me it maybe because of the holidays and thinking about all the food and candy that will be around.

My sister gave me a box of "Pot of Gold" choclates. WHAT THE FU#k. Do people just don't think or do they just don't care. Well, it's still sitting there un open and my goal is to see how long it will sit there. Believe me, once it's open it's going back to her or my hubby will have strict orders to hide it where he will be the only one to eat it. But it's just starting. There will be more of this stuff happening because it's that time of the year. The boxes of candy, the fudge, the tins of popcorn and the gobs of Cookies. I WILL BE STRONG.

I'm getting ready to leave. Taking my other sister to go see "Mr. Magorium's magic Emporium". Here we go, popcorn time. Can I do this? You bet I can.

Everyone, have a great afternoon and this will pass. We will all get thru this and be stronger for it. We will be so proud of ourselves.

Ok, time for a group hug:grouphug:

Well ladies - I knew something wasn't right with my band! My last fill took me to 3.4cc in a 4cc band, however afterwards I felt like I lost ALL restriction!! I've worried myself sick over this, all the while I started to feel depressed because I felt hungry all of the time....so yes, I stopped posting some because I felt in a funk....

I go today to see what's going on, and I only had 1.4cc in my band! He's not sure if he miscalculated putting the last fill in (he draws it all out before putting it back in), or if the syringe disconnected with the port halfway through putting it back in, or if I have a small leak. He put me back to 3.4cc and I go back in on 12/11. If I've lost my fill between now and then I'll be going back for a port/tubing revision....cross your fingers that I don't have a leak!!!

I'm sitting here now drinking Water and I feel some restriction, so we'll see....

Anyway, I just wanted to update you on why I was eating like a pig!

Denise.. that's how I ended up having my port moved. They thought I had a leak due to the tubing being disconnected, or them puncturing it during fill. Then when they went in, there my port was completely flipped backward so that they couldn't even see the difference on an x-ray! Hope they just accidentally filled you in the wrong place (I now know just how possible that is!), and everything is working fine.

Oh, my good news today. I do graphic art as a hobby, and we're working on our new pricing matrixes at work. They sent it to us sales to get our input.. I played around using Photoshop & Excel to make it look more flashy and professional looking. CEO was impressed, asked me how I did it (I have told them over and over I do graphic art, and our hired graphic artist does a lot of QUESTIONABLE stuff.. so I try to squeeze my way in sometimes), I told him for the millionth time I do graphic art.. so.. long story short, he asked me to do the graphics and re-doing the fonts, etc. for our 2008 pricing matrix. Yay me. I'm hoping one day they'll let me do our graphic art stuff, instead of a contracted person. They don't work in the shop, they are hired on a per job basis.. it's really a waste, I can do it for free. Yeah, I like it that much that I do it for free.. hah.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
