Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Top of the morning V's~

Well, the movie, American Gangster was great! Took the in-laws and they enjoyed it too! Then we came home and ate more (will the madness ever end????) So, I woke and was at the gym 20 min after getting out of bed. 5 miles again, 80 crunches (was too sore from yesterday to do more), inner thighs, ass, back, front thighs...AAAHHH

Feeling great again. If I was really "kick ass" I would have gone to jazzercise at 8:30. Kinda felt bad w/ the family here, and me being gone for 2 hours. So I came home, showered and got on the puter, lol!

Malibu is on fire AGAIN! Breaks my heart to see homes burning. Lets pray that it doesn't get out of control too much like last month.

Suzie, hopefully you can teach that game to the V's at the gathering!!! I love games. We bought the electric Monopoly on Thanksgiving! Think we are gonna play later!

Janie, so glad your feeling better!

Amanda, you rock! Black Friday is too scary for me...but I love the deals you got. I guess it depends on what you need. If I needed a puter, then maybe I'd brave the lines for one at that price.

I've started my Christmas cards. I usually like to have them done the day after Thanksgiving. As a teen and young woman, I'd sit down w/ a turkey sand and get them all done. I have only 16 done, but should finish them up today. Now that I have the Violets on my Xmas list, I have more to write! And, I picked up my gift for my Violet! Wish I could see her face when she opens it...I love giving gifts! I'll get it wrapped and in the mail this week sometime!

Ok, gotta go for now! Have a great day ladies!

Good Afternoon, Violets..

Another busy day here, but at least I got to sleep in this morning. We had our 2nd local lap band support meeting. Only one showed up, but that's more than ok, cause she said she really needed it. She has been like most of us, losing a pound, gaining a pound, trying to get to onederland. We sat and talked for an hour and set the date for our December meeting. Even with all the holidays coming up, we decided we NEEDED to meet every month, at least. We might even go to every other week during the winter when it gets so boring around here unless you ski or snowmobile.

Took our oldest son and his girl friend out to lunch. Bob had a sandwich and he got stuck and couldn't eat it so they got to take it home for later. I had ribs and onion straws. Ate the ribs and a few of the straws and sent the rest home with son.

I made a big batch of beef vegetable Soup for supper. It's that kind of day out. 33 degrees and cloudy. I plan on hitting the hot tub for sure tonight.

At the support group meeting the Bobster and I decided we are going to make our guest room into an exercise room. We very rarely have overnight guests.. only two times since we moved here 14 years ago. Sooooooooo we'll get rid of the beds and get some equipment and then cancel our health club membership. I'm excited!! Kris has an elliptical machine she's not using, so we'll have to see if it can be moved upstairs here. The ab lounger can go in there and I want to get a glider type thingy.

Time to check on the soup and try and get a short snooze in before dinner.

Everyone have a great evening!!

TTFN!

Judy-that sounds awesome! I wish I could do te same but we do not have a spare room. I was going to make Soup too but dh wanted wings, so, wings it was!

We have our tree up...it is artificial but it is nice. We are retiring it this year. We have had it since '03 so it has gotten good use. I prefer real trees and now that I no longer have my cat, (I had to have him put to sleep) we can get a real tree next year. We are going to wait until tomorrow to decorate it. It will give us something to do on the rainy day...

Everyone have a great night.

Back from the 2nd Thanksgiving @ my mom's! It was crazy crowded... a little split level from the '40s w/18 adults & 7 kids... I ate sitting on the steps! It was a bit wild but ok all in all... I washed up tons of dishes & generally tried to keep things wrangled into their basic areas... I think Mom appreciated it and also my cousins, whom I freed up to socialize together + w/their 90-year-old grandmother... they live all up & down the East coast, from Vt to Va, & don't get the chance to be together too often. So that was nice. Oh! & my one cousin raised the turkey!! He was 35 lbs! I'd never seen such a big bird! Wowza.

That's it from here. Tomorrow I have to work, work, work... I have a proofreading job that I HAVE to send out on Monday & I'm only 30 pages in!! Yikes!

G'night!

Good Evening, Violets..

Just got in from the hot tub. It was such a BEAUTIFUL night. The moon is full and the snow just glistens. Did my toning exercises in the hot tub and then the Bobster came out to join me. He knows not to come out until I've been in the tub for 10 minutes.. lol

Tomorrow is church and then we are going to decorate the house for Christmas in the afternoon. I wonder how Ethan will react to all the new stuff that will be around when he comes next week. It will be a whole new experience for him.

I want to get the presents all wrapped and bagged too. That will be one less thing to worry about. I remember all the Christmases past when we used to wrap the gifts on Christmas Eve. We'd hide them at the church and I would stay after the Christmas Eve service to wrap. Sometimes I didn't get home until 1 or 2 a.m. Those were the good old days!!

Time to head to bed and read my new tabloids.. lol

Everyone sleep well and remember..

Patience, Trust, Purple Power and WWJD??!!!

Just got home from driving around looking at X-Mas lights. I love doing that. We have a neighborhood here were they go all out. They actually have a lighting ceremony and than it's like a 3block drive winding thru the neighborhood seeing all the scenery. Then at the end each night they have a different non-profit taking donations and they pass out candy canes. It's so much fun. Longview Lake also has a drive thru. You go thru the camping area. It's sponsored by the County.

It's 30 degrees here now and we have a fire in the fireplace. The TV is going with the MU-KU BorderWar College game going. Go MU.

Going to be gone most of the day tomorrow. We are going to SIL's. They are having a get together to Celebrate their 40th Anniversary. It will be good to see some cousins we haven't seen for awhile.

Still trying to work on getting some pics on here. I'll get it figured out some day. Don't want to scare you guys but thought you might like to see who your talking with. I'll get it done.

Everyone have a great evening. :clap2:

If there is a picture here it is of me from when we went to St. Louis in July.

Hi girls~

I too got the things we wanted for the grandkids at Black Friday. I was iffy about going, so we left it with a maybe!! I have been getting up at 5 for so many years with Rick for work, my bladder is on a 5 AM schedule. So when I woke up I thought what the heck, I feel pretty good, so woke up Rick and we pulled up to Target about 5 minutes before the door opened. We decided we would try and if the things we wanted were gone, it didn't matter. But we got the last little Quad for Connor, and the Dora one for Kinsey, and the rest of the odds & ends toys we wanted. Then we drove across the road where he wanted to get a Zune on sale (he has wanted mine for awhile now!) and we were not aggressive enough--and add to that that Office Max only got 4 of them in anyway! So...we went to the mall, and we wound up buying me a new Ipod, and now he can have my Zune!!! The Zune shares music much easier, from unit to unit, and most of the guys he works with have Zunes....so, I upsized!! We will use mine on the bike etc. I am much pickier about my music. Where he likes and agrees with all the music I like, he also likes a lot of the harder rock, and more metal than I do.

So.....now, we can take my new Ipod to our deserted island---and have even more music than the old one!!! LOL

Well my incision is healing, it is beginning to itch!!! The swelling overall is going down, but the area it was malformed before due to the tumor is still huge! I don't know if it caused something to be permanently diverted, or whether it will eventually go down, hopefully! The steri strips are coming off, and the stitches are poking me everytime I look down!! They come out Wed. morning at 8AM!

We too have snow on the ground. Judy is right, the moonlight shining on it tonight it gorgeous! We went out to dinner, and as we drove, the moon was really low in the sky and HUGE! Once when my DD was young she ask me how many moons we have...and refused to believe there was only one, because some are big, and some are small, and some are round and some aren't and one is white, and some were yellow--she thought they were all different moons!

Manda and her family were over today, with their new game from her brother, he bought her a Guitar Hero game. Years ago she took guitar lessons, and thought she could teach everything she learned to him. So he bought her this game. Rick kicked all our butts!! He does not play the guitar, he played the saxophone in school---but he left us in the dust, he blew us away! Was a fun afternoon.

I sent a picture of Kinsey to a friend, who ask me if she could submit it to a local Summer Fun contest--Kinsey got 3rd place! I had better pictures of her DOING something, I just liked the one I sent because it is just so her! She is just smiling sweetly, in her little swimming suit (or swimming Soup as she calls it) playing. Actually giving her baby a bath in a little pail of water! The smile and the fact that it is my sweetie was why I sent it, as far as a winning photo? Nope! It is shadowed in part, it kinda confused me. I think some judge felt her smile just like I did! It was published in her small town paper and listed her as my friends great niece---which she is in effect, she only knows her as Aunt Sharon. Sharon and I grew up together, neither had a sister, so we were each others DD's Aunts.

Well, I have peanuts roasting---we bring back boxes of raw peanuts and I roast and flavor them, and Rick gives them to his co workers, and we give them to friends. Been doing it for years. So guess I will go season them...

Will talk to all of you soon!

Jane, Jennifer, Pamela~~~~ y'all are the best, thanks so much for the cards! Love Ya!

Kat

Good morning, Violets!!

I'm dressed and ready to head to church. The weather is a tad bit warmer.. 33 degrees right now. Hopefully some of the snow will melt so we can get some of the chores done we were supposed to do before the first snow hit.

Hope to have the house decorated and gifts bagged and wrapped before evening today. That's my goal, anyway!!

Everyone have a great day.

Suzie.. hey there twin!!! You look great!! Nice to have a face with the name.

TTFN!

Hey Violets~

Suzie, looking good!

Kat, I am coming over for some roasted peanuts!!! YUMMMM Sounds so good.

Susanne and I went and bought ourselves our Christmas present yesterday. We bought a leather sectional couch yesterday for the den. It is very nice, w/ 2 recliners. We have a small den, so this will help us maximize our space. It was kinda expensive, but we found a sale w/ free delivery and no tax! Now under the tree, we have a $50 gift limit since the sectional is our gift!

I am jealous of those getting the house decorated today. I love it when the house is decorated! We will probably do it on the 14th. That is one problem w/ us living apart...we only have weekends to do stuff. I will have my cards done today! That is a must. This becomes a busy time of year, and I like to have them "out of the way" early. I used to get bummed or depressed during the holidays, now I seem to enjoy it!

I have my 3 year old nephew Johnny today for a couple of hours. We are gonna watch Meet the Robinsons. Then my neices are gonna be dropped off here @ 1 and we go out to lunch, then I'll take them all home. Should be fun!

I insisted Susanne take the food w/ her. German food has soooo many carbs and meet, not a lot of sal. I threw the rest (1/2) of the pumpkin pie away. So, I actually ate 1/2 a pie:faint:...aaahhh shit. It is a good thing I've gone to the gym the last 2 days. She left just a little bit of food for me, most of which I'll feed my brother today. I had a small bit of ice cream last night (low carb) and went to be sick to my stomach. I am ready to take a break from all the crap. I need Cut the Crap week!

Ok, I've bored you all enough w/ my typing! Have a great day!

I am in the grumpiest mood today! Ack! It's one of those "I'm sick of doing every ding-danged thing around here!" moods, much to my kids' dismay! I keep telling them to clean their rooms, they say they're done, I go check & tell them to try again... driving me crazy! Then my 13yo ds had an argument w/me over what "pick up" vs. "clean" means! Like he has a chance to win THAT one! As I've been doing BOTH of those activities for 20+ years now... yeah, that's why I went to college -- NOT! Wow, am I ever cranky!!

Oh, and not helping my mood at all is the fact that I'm STILL UP for the month!!! So it was a wasted month!! & I ate properly and exercised!! WTF?? So that makes me maddER! Grrrrrrr.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
