Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi-forgot to let you know--------I have to be at the hospital at 9:45 this morning, and surgery is supposed to be sometime around 11. Should take in the neighborhood of 3 hours.

Had a heck of a time getting to sleep, then slept well, until Rick's guys started calling his cell phone, then going back to sleep was out of the question!!

I appreciate all the good vibes I am taking with me. I didn't have any more wierd dreams about it! But I woke up pretty calm, have good feelings about it...it is going to be ok!

But I think Rick is more stressed than I am, so I am going to get off of here, and hang with the hubby!

Hugs to all of you, see you when my reverse Hunchback wannabe is gone!

Love~Kat

Cody's first day Recap:

In Cody’s words………… AWESOME!

The morning started with Cody and Charles getting into school and Charles meeting with the vice principal and Cody getting a tour by a kid named James. He ate Breakfast and was surprised to have 9 hours in a day. The band director was so impressed with him, and Cody was glowing because he is supposed to show the Band teacher the “Cadens” (which I guess is the beat he ALWAYS plays) and is different at every school. I had him call both his dad and then his mom and he told them both his day was AWESOME, and when asked if he met any new friends he said……….. “Yeah, pretty much the ENTIRE 7th Grade!” He was excited and happy, he asked if we could pick up Robby early, and then he went straight into his room to finish up his homework. He told me that he wanted to have his homework done by 6:00 p.m. (I was like…… well OK then)

So I made a 4 course dinner and everyone was eating it up…….

We then met hiw mom and stepdad to get his Boy Scout stuff…….. she had asked Cody if he needed anything and he said……. YEAH… some of my clothes! (I had to hide my smile) She DID turn loose of 5 brand new shirts with tags, and his long underwear and wool socks that he needs for scouts this weekend.

OK………… so the annoying part……….

She offered to pay for the bus til the end of the school year. $40.00 a month.

Why is this annoying you ask????

  • Its her way to NOT give up her child support. (Sorry but $40.00 vs $325, not a fair trade) Charles doesn’t want to start a war by taking it to court., but I told him if we don’t she is holding us hostage….. for breakfast&lunch money, scouts, food, and everything else…. And the threat of just demanding he come back to her house.

  • Its also her passive aggressive way to say that Cody is not permanent here.. that she expects him to move back to her house when school is over for the summer.

This morning, I told Cody to ask around and see if the bus was a good thing or bad thing and he said.. he didn’t want to ride the bus because the High Schooler’s end up picking on the younger kids…. (I had heard that the BUS is pretty rough) We are a little over 2.5 miles from school, and IS doable with a bike in nice weather, but he doesn't know our town yet.

I told Cody last night that I loved him and that I was so glad he came to live with us and for him not to forget it…… even when we are arguing.

This morning I dropped him off at school.. I let him sit in the Truck with me til 7:30 a.m. I think once he makes some solid friends it won’t be such a big deal to just drop him off with all the other kids shooting the breeze waiting for the breakfast bell.

He leaves today at 5:30 p.m. with the new scout troop for a campout.

There's a bug going around the office, throw-up bug! I'm tryin so hard not to get it. I'm still paranoid about throwing up with the band.. it is NOT pleasant from the honeymoon experience I had.

I ate bad things yesterday, I'll spare you because I think it's food PORN!

Got my commission check for this month.. WOWEEE. Biggest yet.

TGIF!!!

Have a great day everyone and don't eat anything you'd be emberassed to admit later

Laura - Too late. Should have logged on here first before having breakfast...LOL

I'm having a rough week. We're planning my dad's 50th birthday party for Sunday and one of my sisters just isn't cooperating. It's always the same thing with her. She's too "busy" to help out and so me and my youngest sister always end up doing most of the work. This is for anything that we ever plan. All she wants to do is at the end of the soiree ask how much her third was and hand us a check. HELLO! it's not just about money. We spend hours planning and making sure everything goes right and then just because she split the cost with us evenly she also gets credit? End of rant...

Oh, I planned a night out with an old HS best friend tonight (she looked me up on myspace a couple weeks ago, and we've been getting together ever since.. kinda nice!) We're doing dinner & a movie tonight. Now I'm torn.. we're going to O'Charleys.. I love their Black & Bleu salad (NUM NUM).. but I can't go to the movies without my small bag of popcorn with tons of butter.. I'm not willing to give that up since I only go to the movies maybe 4x a year.

What to do, what to do. I said we should do a movie, she said we should do dinner & a movie. Such an overwhelming combo for someone who can't eat a lot. I think I'll just get the salad to go (it's 40 some degrees out with sun today).. it'll just chill in the car during the movie. Can eat it for lunch tomorrow.

No good movies out, I got DH to agree to dinner & movie with her and her room mate, but he sent me an e-mail 'What movie?'. I'm afraid to tell him it's the Bee Movie LOL! I want to see it since it's seinfeld.. but.. it's a kid's movie, and DH won't see 1. kids movies 2. scary movies. Ho hum..

Good, well it's Afternoon now, Vi's~~

Busy morning... was up 'til 2am doing a 1-day turnaround edit job, up @ 6 to get dh & ds packed for their soccer weekend in NC, then made a birthday b'fast for ds -- he turns 13 tomorrow! -- + he opened his presents... got them out the door & I zipped to coffee w/my friend who's loser husband left her on her b'day (she's doing GREAT, btw! I'm so happy for her!)... just firing on all cylinders today!

Now I'm home & my head hurts & I'm sooooo tired. Think I'll nap 'til dd comes home @ 4... then she & I have a "shopping date" + dinner out tonight...

I feel so weird... I'm in a funky, sorta blue mood... don't know why... TOM isn't due for a week or so... I know some of it has to do w/me not being w/ds tomorrow for his 13th birthday... maybe it's the lack of sleep and overabundance of things I've got going on lately... whatever... just feel kind of weepy & emotional... oh yeah, + that stupid scale that won't budge more than .2 a day... ugh!

Sorry... just venting... sometimes I kind of zone out when I'm typing on here & just journal my thoughts/feelings more for ME than you guys... that's probably not what this space is for, but... oh well... sue me! Ha!

Thinking of Kat right now... sending her all my purple power!!

Hang tough, everyone!

I'm home, it went ok, i have such a small family and it is sad we are so seperated.

Kat - hugs

Laura - you would be surprised at the amount of adults who go without children to see kids movies. We are going to see FRED CLAUSE on Thanksgiving, I'm so excited. I never get to go to the movies.

well, I'm mentally drained but off to work. this is going to be a horrible pay week for me.

Terri-it IS a beautiful day here today right? Makes me wanna run around in the yard nekkid....um, OK, so the weather isn't THAT good LOL

I am off work early today. I went to my dd day school to have a Thanksgiving "feast" (as they call it!)

She conned me into bringing her home with me. All it took was a "momma, will you please take me home with you?" I said sure babygirl! So, here we are! My dss and dsd are coming over this weekend and we have a b-day party to go to for my great nephew.

I will check in later.

Good afternoon, Violets...

I've got Kat on my mind. Sure hope we hear soon that everything is good.

Ethan has kept me on the run today. He's into EVERYTHING!! But I don't mind. I just love having him here. The Bobster got home a few minutes ago so he's pulling some Ethan duty right now while I take a break.

Almost time for Ethan to lie down for his second nap of the day. I've been doing laundry in between playing Peek A Boo and Patty Cake. AND I've read the Foot Book at least 50 times today!

It turned out to be a beautiful day here. It's 37 but the sun is shining and there is still just a dusting of snow in the back yard. We go out to dinner tonight. Last night we went to a friend's house and she made wonderful fried fish, but of course I had to excuse myself and pb. I stuck to the squash and homemade applesauce after that. Tonight our other friends are making a pork roast. Don't know how that will work, but hopefully it will go down easily if I follow the Bandster rules.

Tomorrow we leave in the morning for our granddaughter's baptism. I'm looking forward to taking lots of pics to bring back.

Time to see if Ethan will lay down for a bit. I'll keep peeking in to see if there is word about Kat.

TTFN...

I feel like I'm about to pop too. What happened to my restriction? I made a black bean/corn salad and I couldn't stop eating it. I ate a big bowl of it. And now I feel like I'm gonna burst. Oh my. I hear all of ya'll talking about PB'ing on everything. I wish!! Well no, not really, but I do wish that there were foods out there that would be impossible for me to eat. Now that I think of it I don't think I've ever actually PB'd. Nothing has ever come back up. I've had things get stuck and I've sat there sliming but they go through after awhile. pancakes, Cereal, spageti (sp) and a tortilla once. Those are the things that got stuck. Those are the only things I fear.

Black bean/corn salad recipe:

1 can corn, drained

1 can black Beans, rinsed and drained

1/2 small purple onion

1 Tomato

juice of one lime

1/4 bunch of cilantro, minced

about 6 leaves of romaine lettuce, cut into strips

1 small seeded jalapeno (optional)

salt according to taste

Combine all ingredients in a big bowl. Makes two normal servings or 4 bandster servings

I eat mine with tortilla chips.< /p>

***********IMPORTANT MESSAGE***********

I just got a call from Manda (Kat's daughter) to let me know that she just came out of the surgery and she's fine. Most importantly, the growth was entirely benign!!! My phone was cutting out so I'm not sure what happened with the intubation...Manda said she thought she was asleep, but I think Kat was in the background shaking her head 'no'. So we'll find out more about that tomorrow. I think I also understood that she should be discharged Saturday. I'm sure she'll be glad to get home!

GREAT NEWS, KAT!!! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
