Kat - I can't imagine what you and Amanda must feel when Kinsey cries because she's in pain. Hope she starts to feel better soon.

Girls, does anyone have an idea of what I could do with turkey lunch meat? I forgot that I had almost a full package of it and it expired yesterday. I need to use it all up tonight but have no idea what I can make with it. Remember that I've got no restriction so I can pretty much eat anything you throw out at me...

Well, we did the great experiment at lunch today. Bob got a hamburger and cup of chili from Wendys. It went down slick as a whistle.. no problems. I told him to call and let them know and then POW.. everything stuck. Seems strange to say I'm really happy about it, but at least we know the band is working. It just isn't at the right restriction yet. I think if he had gotten 3cc yesterday he would have been much better off. So it's back to watching what he eats and making sure he doesn't eat too fast. My lunch, tuna salad, Tomato and red pepper got stuck, but after barfing up the slime, it was fine. I just ate really slow and really small bites. I'm filled up on 2/3 cup tuna, one small tomato and 1/8 of a red pepper. Hope the full feeling lasts until supper. Then I'll KNOW I'm at the sweet spot for now.

Off to Penneys to look for some new earrings and then to the book store to get Celebrity Detox by Rosie. Love that lady!

TTFN

Kat.. sorry to hear Kinsey is not feeling well again. It's a blessing to have you there to be able to help take care of her. Today is my day without Ethan and I miss him!!

Well today is the start of my work week! I am off on Sundays and Mondays so Tuesday the beginning of the week for me. I feel really good and positive today. I hope this feeling lasts a long time!!!! Maybe I will take my camera to work today and have Charlie take my picture and then try to see if I can upload them onto this page. I had my picture done the early part of April, wish I would have had it done August of 06 when I started this. Oh well.

Have a great day and Laura here is another gentle nudge in the rear!!!

Thanks my friends for worrying about Kinsey with me---it's a shame that at 2 she does not know about all the cyber Aunties she has!!! The good (while not being exactly good) news is, my great nephew, Aiden, who was here for the party, was sick the last couple of days with a belly ache. My niece said he did not complain of anything else, just his tummy hurting--just like Kinsey. And while they were here, and we were riding the quads, Kinsey and Aiden were together a lot of that time. So maybe just a bug and it will pass. She is eating a little, she had some mac & cheese and went back to the couch and is back asleep. If she is running fever it is mild....so guess we will just watch and see how she does. The stupid pediatricians office NEVER calls back. cBut there is not a ped. in our area taking new patients....our area sucks so bad for medical care.

Anyway, I was going to take her out and rake leaves into the pumpkin bags....but, she is asleep, and I cannot find my bags---guess it is back to looking in case she feels better when she gets up next.

TTYL~~

Jenn-glad to hear about the cash!! Lets hope you are on a roll!!

Haydee-that avatar was awful! I will do another one soon. Thanks for the compliment though!!

Terri-I am so sad that you are sad!! I wish I could give you a great big violet hug!

Kat-I sure hope Kinsey gets to feeling better soon!

Judy-you are so fortunate to have your dh to go through this with you! I am jealous!

Panda-I hope you feel better!!

TracyKS-my dsd WANTS braces, not needs them, wants them. All her friends have them so she wants them too. She has a small gap between her front teeth...like most kids do, SO, her mom is gonna let her get them and stick us with half the bill just so dsd can be in the "in" crowd. UGH....enough about that. I could go on and on about that but I will spare you! lol

Well, I gotta get supper ready. Take care everyone!!

Thanks for all the well wishes :) I do feel much better now and I did make it the whole day at work (unfortunately, lol). I think mentally i just REALLY wanted to be home. I played half the day away...lol.

I have to come up with a halloween outfit for tomorrow at work, and i have nothing.....lol. So might do a split personality thing...half my face done up with makeup and half not, half my hair done nice, half all straggly and rough....maybe my jeans and a dress shirt, one sandal and one sneaker? what do you guys think? LOL. Probably won't do that in case i have to stop at the store lol, but i gotta figure SOMETHING out....ugh.

anyway, i'm off to finish checking email and whatnot, hope everyone has a good night.

Hey guys. Been one hell of a day, been so busy and stressed with work and my sister. Got home, and DH still isn't doin stuff around here he keeps putting off, I'm about to blow my lid!!!!!

On top of that, I check my classes, and I got a 65..65!?! on participation.

Participation is, we have to write an essay every week on the material. I do this every friggin week. And I get a 65?! I'm pissed off. I wrote the teacher a letter asking what the hell I got a 65 for. I'm doing exactly what she asked. I'm a straight A student, so I don't know what this is about. She's gonna ruin my honors and I don't even know why!

I'm going to take sleeping pills and end this day. Too much excitement :)

Hi Everyone!

Well I feel a bit better after getting back from a visit with Mom in the hospital. She looks soooooo much better today! They pumped her up full of steriods, antibiotics and fluids and it's working! They did rule out pneumonia, which is always a big worry. Kat, she is a very good patient and doesn't squawk about having to go to the hospital. (I think she likes the attention :) ) I think she will be discharged tomorrow....hopefully will go to my sister's house for a day or two, then maybe back here. I dunno yet. We may just get by with making some modifications to make her house safer and a bedside potty for night-time...and a caregiver 2-3 times a week for laundry, errands, etc. Just not sure what she will be capable of yet. Nevertheless, we do need to come up with a PLAN as the level of her disability increases. A caregiver thru an agency is $17/hour. She doesn't have much money left, and I've got a kid heading for college very soon....I'm starting to freak just a little bit! One bridge at a time, eh?

Work is just such a horrible, sad place to be right now. We got a few more details from the report that was in the paper, but still the exact circumstances of the accident are a mystery. What we do know is that he had taken a friend home, it was 5:00a on Sunday morning and he jumped the curb for 200 ft, then hit a tree, then a railroad embankment, then the car burst into flames. The body was badly burned before the VFD could get to him. The report said he was killed on impact. The body is being autopsied. The parents are not doing well at all, as you can imagine. There will be a memorial service on Saturday. It's kind of unfortunate that several of his close friends will not be able to attend as they play football for Univ. of Texas. I was considering asking my son to go with me to the funeral so that he could perhaps learn a valuable life lesson. He is taking the SAT that day, but I will make sure he hears allllll about it.

I have been eating nothing but junk for days. The stress has been kickin' my band and I just have this 'who cares' attitude right now. Amazingly, I weighed 184.0 this a.m.

Kat - Kinsey is in my prayers...poor baby. Did you say she was a preemie? So that's why she is so tiny, huh? I have a neice like that, too. Smart as a whip, though...and she's 15 now.

Jenn - so glad to see the money is coming in! Did the state help you get it or what?

Hi everyone else -- I'm tired and have to get to bed. It'll be another very long day tomorrow.

XOXO!

Good evening, Violets..

Rehearsal went well and we just got in from the hot tub. Sooooooooo relaxing at the end of the day. Ethan is coming over at 6:15 a.m. so I have to be up and ready I have my alarm set for 5:30. Gonna be a long day, but it's worth it to have him here with me.

Terry.. glad to hear your mom is doing better. My dad had congestive heart failure and he was in hospice for a couple of years. They really helped with getting someone to come and bathe him and help with his meds. Towards the end we had aides coming in to spend the night with him. My dad and mom were both deaf so it was really hard for us to leave them alone without a means of communicating with us. We used the fax machine for years and years. I never could just pick up the phone and talk with them. We finally put dad in a care home and he was there 10 days before he passed away. It was a long journey for all of us, but we are content knowing we did everything we possibly could to make his last days comfortable. I kept telling my kids.. "watch how we take care of Grandma and Grandpa cause I want you to do the same thing for me!!"

Well, I better get to bed so I can be up at the crack of dawn!

Everyone sleep well!!

Patience, Trust and WWJD!

Hi guys

Kat - hope you guys are feeling a little better... mmmmmmmmmmmmm sugar Cookies.< /p>

Terry - that is just so very sad, could not even imagine

Well, I guess he is only getting paid once a month... that that is it until next month... the thing that really concerns me is that I got his x wifes support, which is less than mine. Once broken down I only got $201/week, and that math doesn't even work at all for me, my normal is $225 and my case worker was going to income execution for an extra $50 which should be $275... so... I left a message and I think I'm going to need to go down there. I think the x got my money... which ok, he owes her too, but next month, I want my normal amount...

so... I'm not going to get weekly checks which I really need. So... I will not be giving up a night

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
