Want2bmeagain; Hope all goes well with your mom.

Kat - Thinking of you also.

Laura: Haha!

Everyone else good morning.

It has finally turned cool here in St Louis. Monday it was 92 and this morning 54, so I was looking for a jacket to put on. Tried on one I've had for 5 or 6 years but haven't been able to wear since the year I purchased it and it was too big. I'm determined to wear it, so when it gets cold I'll bundle-up with sweaters and wear it anyway at least once.

I'm going to put all my summer things in bags and farm them out to friends or charity go through my winter things get rid of anything too big and start wearing the rest. This should thin my closet out some. I'm a pack rat and hate to throw anything out. But they gotta go!

I may not be losing a lot of pounds but a lot of inches. My friends and workmates all say that I'm "Shrinking" away! and I love it!!!!:clap2:

BACK AWAY FROM THE EVIL TRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's FINALLY cold here too. 2 days ago it was 90 degrees, yesterday was low 80's (felt better).. today it feels 50-60. It's COLD out. And so someone went nutso and cranked the heat up inside (no wind in here, not neccesarry!!) so it's about 200 degrees in my office, with a fan going lol.

I was digging through the sample room and saw we just printed a cd holder for a weight loss surgery brochure. How neato :Banane30:

It's by 5 doctors, one of which is in Dallas, TX.

I know i don't post often (you girls have WAY too much free time ;-) hehe, j/k), BUT I had to post this................................

As of this morning, using the scale in the back bathroom at work..............

I'M IN ONE-DERLAND!!! 198 as of this morning!!! :whoo:

I haven't seen numbers below 200 since 6th grade....roughly 14 years ago!!

It hasn't totally hit yet....but when it does, i'm going to bawl...i know it...LOL. I just can't believe it.........it finally ahppened. And I have had ABSOLUTELY NO URGES FOR 'BAD' FOODS! Something about being under 200 just really makes it click - I DON'T WANT JUNK! :clap2:

Anyway, i'm at work, can't stay long, but hopefully soon I'll be able to take more part in the chatting on here -- I have been trying to keep up as far as reading them though!!

And it's starting to feel good here in FL too ...we're in the 70's today, and tomorrow we're sposed to start out in the 50's!!!! ((i LOVE this time of year)). So, I'm going to go splurge tonight and buy a new sweater/jacket....the ones from last year swallow me!! :-D

Take care everyone!!

thanks guys (or gals!). I'm still in shock...it hasn't quite hit me yet....LOL. But it has made me more determined than EVER. I looked at gym today that some people who used to go to our church work at (they moved to a church closer to their home). It's a NICE place.....$50 activation and $35 a month if you pay monthly. Not bad at all. And it's close to my job, so I'm going to see if they ahve showers and if so, I think i'll join soon (not yet, broke as all get out LOL).

Anyway, I pray that everyone else is doing ok. Hopefully work will be slowing down here shortly and I can get on here more. Our busy season seems to keep getting longer and longer!

By the way, my mom is in onederland too :Banane30: She's doing just as well as I am. I'll post updated pix as soon as I can...my computer has issues right now, so any online stuff is limited LOL.

Hope you're all doing well. TTYL :)

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
