Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Pam - I used to do Jazzercize in like 1985! LOL Actually, other than the gym I'm doing now, and yoga, it is the only exercise routine I stuck with for any length of time. I loved it but I don't think I could do it now. Well, I'm quite sure their philosophy has changed but back then it was all about "aerobics" and I know my heart rate was thru the roof 80% of the time! Same with the classes offered at my gym now...I know going that hard is not good for me so I don't do too good in classes. I did love it though...it was a blast!

Just stopping in to say good night, I am off to bed. If Rick ever finishes transferring all his music to the external hard drive, then I might get my computer back---yep MY computer!!!

I had Pasta for dinner, was actually able to eat more of it than usual, not necessarily a good thing!!! But I have burped it all evening, and it still feels like it is sitting there, not moving, but I have no pain at all....hmmmmmm

I'll see y'all in the morning, before I head off to Colorado...I'd really like to sit at home and do nothing!!!

Nighty Night Violets!!

well, I an unusually full of "nothing new" going on. I guess that could be a good thing. Better to have nothing going on than a bunch of crap & misery going on... :)

Everyone have a great day!

Morning violets. I am just getting up and going. What a rough day yesterday. My fav great aunt is not doing well and I went to see her. Then of course her son who thinks he is better than everyone in the world made me feel like crap about telling everyone how she was when i got there. So, needless to say i was so upset by his stupidness that I had the worst migrane I've had in years. I broke down last night when I got home from work and took 1 excedrine. I was afraid to take it because they are harsh on your stomach, but I figured what the heck, if I didn't do something soon i was going to be throwing up which would be much worse. (I lived with these headaches for years of being sick) Anyway, I'm better this am and it didn't hurt my stomach. I want to go over and visit my aunt but i don't want to run into my cousin, I just can't deal with him right now.

Anyway...

Laura - I can eat chicken tenders but I usually dip them in something (usually hot sauce), I can do ground turkey and beef if I put something moist on/in it, but the last few times I cooked chicken I have not had a problem with PB. It is funny how I was thinking the same thing. Deli turkey is the most evil to me. I can eat pepperoni and salami with no issues, I don't get it either.

well I'm going to drink my coffee

G'Morning Vi's (as Michelle says) --

I am really sore from my UB workout Monday night but that serves me right. Thankfully it's not as bad as when I started from scratch and I didn't have a trainer working with me so I took it kinda easy. Going again tonight to do the LB and i always overdo it. Grrr. I wish I had not let my routine get so stale. It was so nice to be able to work out hard and not be sore. PAMELA - were you sore after your Jazzercize workouts??

Today I am pushing Water like there's no tomorrow. My scale is so stuck at 185-186. When I quit smoking on Aug. 19 I weighed 188. To tell you the truth I've been entertaining the thought of smoking until I get closer to goal. How sick is that? I'm want 'it' just that bad. Stupid, I know. Beyond stupid.

Jenn - You are so sensitive to others' opinions! I have a sneaky feeling that you perceive these things in a skewed way...like you think their opinion of you is much lower than it really is and you give those perceived opinions way, way too much importance. Your self-esteem is so wrapped up in these perceptions that you can't even see your own self-value. You are a kind, loving, supportive friend, a hard worker, a good mother, you don't set fire to small animals....what more could the world ask of you? You're everything a good person should be and I am a better person for knowing you and having you in my life!! ((((Big Hug))))

Morning all!!!!!!! Well I got up and worked out this morning.. yeah me! I was SOOOOOO red and sweaty that I ALMOST took a picture of myself and text'd it to Terry.. (but I didn't)

4 hours later I now feel like I've been hit with a the bug that has been going around.......... super nasau and splitting headache... AND my period started and I had a very crappy afternoon workwise yesterday........ I may be heading home after I put my payroll to bed, but that said .... I feel good about working out and it is funny beacause I kept hearing "The Biggest Loser Song" in my head while working out......

My scale bounced to 217 this am most likely due to AF rearing her ugly head.... dang it... I didn't want to blow a day of PTO for being sick!

Have a good one.

Morning Violets~

Yes Terry...I am sore...but it is a good sore. I did workout this summer, quite a bit too. I felt I had some pretty good strength going in. My abs will be sore, my legs are always sore...my ass too! You should see how I get out of bed in the morning...hobbling to the shower.

Have a great day everyone. I am back at work. Actually, I miss my childrens...remind me I said that when I come home tonight exhausted. Honestly, I do love my job. I'd much rather teach (yes, even this years group) than sit all day and listen and learn. My lower back hurts in those chairs. It will be nice to get back to work, but on Friday, I make more plans because I am back at training on MOn and Tues. OH well...keeps things fresh!

Good morning girls!

I don't know if anyone has tried this but I found a Special K Cereal that has added Protein in it. Here are the specs:

Serving Size: 3/4 cup

Calories 100Calories

Total Fat 3g

Saturated Fat 0.5g

Cholesterol 0mg

Sodium 110mg

Potassium 320mg

Total Carbohydrate 14g

Dietary Fiber 5g

Sugars 2g

Protein 10g

Then I also found milk that has protein in it. It's Borden's 2% Reduced Fat with added protein. Here are those specs:

Serving Size: 1 cup (240 mL)

Calories 140

Total Fat 5g

Saturated Fat 3g

Trans Fat 0g

Cholesterol 20mg

Sodium 150mg

Total Carbohydrate 14g

Dietary Fiber 0g

Sugars 13g

Protein 10g

How does it look? Has anyone tasted any of these? I was gonna go out and get it during my lunch hour so that I can start having that for Breakfast. I think what happened was that I got burned out on cottage cheese. I was having that every day during the week because it was easy. On the weekends I usually have eggs and refried Beans. I went back and looked at the my total intake of protein these past few weeks and there was hardly a day that I was getting more than 45 grams. That's what has caused my slowdown. So I gotta get back to at least 20 grams per meal. Or go out and buy those bullets that Laura takes.

Does anyone know if I have to wait any length of time between fills? I got a slight fill two weeks ago that didn't do anything for me. I am eating whatever just like if I wasn't banded. I want to go get another one this week but I don't know if I should wait.

Morning ladies!

The keilbasa went down FINE! Not a single problem. I kept the first bite in my mouth a very long time, afraid to swallow it (and it has that skin on it).. then I braved it, swallowed.. nothing. So then I finished my dinner without a hitch. Not a single PB on dinner (Keilbasa, saurkraut, okra mixed with tomatos and corn). I was able to eat more than usual of dinner. It was still about 1c of food total, so still good enough for me.

scale isn't moving.. but I feel skinnier. I haven't been taking measurements, but I have gotten compliments the past couple of days (they had died down for a while). My clothes seem to be fitting better. So I'm not going to be discouraged that my scale isn't moving despite me barely eating 1000-1200c a DAY! Hrmph.

Yesterday on smoke break, husband said "I can tell your face is losing weight, around your neck and everything". He never notices, so that was nice.

We have bowling tonight, I'm hoping I'm healed enough to throw the ball. We were in the top 3 teams, and I want to keep it that way.. $$!!!

Off to do some work...

WWJD!

Terry - you are right, I am super sensative to what other people think about me. All my life this same psycho family would say you are fat, i'll give you a penny for every lb you lose. This started at 6 years old! and continued all my life... you are a bad mother... you this you that...They are insane and drank way too much, but these are my memories.. and always trying to please them and it never being enough...

I thank you for such kind words and I hope I can get my self esteem back so I can so I can move on and truely be happy. And not set animials on fire! LOL

Haydee---my doc says 2 weeks for a vanguard (larger) band and 4 weeks for a regular.

Tracy---hope you feel better, but yea for getting up this morning!!!!!!

Terry----no smoking, I actually gained a pound in regard to my Dr.s scale in September, but I had more people ask me how much more I lost! I think our bodies do this on purpose to mess with us!!!!!

Have a great day!!!!

My doctor makes me wait 4 weeks between fills, which is why the past 5 months have been so darn frustrating!!!

That bread I was telling you guys about, I don't know how they do it!? I am worried they're lying to me.. That's illegal and companies don't do that, right?

I made toast this morning, 1 slice.. 35c. It looked, felt, tasted 100% like the normal white bread I eat. I couldn't tell it was anything special.. but it has no fat, 35c, and has 4g of fiber. I'm really baffled. It was soft and squishy (till I toasted it).

Sprayed my 0 calorie I can't believe it's not butter on it, and a smudge of grape jelly.. Yum yum. The crust had a hard time going down, I think I'm going to cut the crusts off in the future.

I am feeling MUCH BETTER and DECIDED TO STAY AT WORK!

I just came accross this on LCF... and thought.. HOLY HECK I've NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE!

1 MINUTE MUFFIN

Serving Size: 1

1/4 cup flax meal

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 packet splenda packet

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 large egg

1 teaspoon butter

Put the dry ingredients in a coffee mug.

Stir.

Then add the egg and the butter. Mix.

Microwave 1 minute (or more). Take out. slice, butter, eat.

Cream cheese would go nicely, too.

Notes: 11.1 total carbs, 8.8 fiber, for 2.3 net carbs.

The shape of this can be changed by making it in a bowl.

It can be "toasted" once it's cooked.

The cinnamon can be replaced. I would imagine that any sugar free Syrup could be added.

Per serving: 235 Calories; 18g Fat (63% calories from fat); 12g Protein; 11g Carbohydrate; 223mg Cholesterol; 284mg Sodium

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
