Tracy!!! Congrulations!!! I'm so happy for you!

Tracy in Galveston - Good luck with the house! I hope it looks good from the inside too...

Laura - Sounds like you're in good spirits. I'm glad that your band problem isn't keeping you down. Once you get it fixed you'll be right back to losing!

Kat - is your mouth better?

I got sick over the weekend. I'm completely congested and having sinus pain. What can I take that is band-friendly? I've been on Tylenol for about two days now but it's not really helping my congestion... ( btw, I hate Thera Flu. Can't stomach it...)

I am sorry I'm just catching up right now, what a day yesterday. Anyway - I took dayquyl/nightquyl and that dried me up and didn't do any harm to my band. I think being sick did more damage. Hope you are feeling better. Oh I took the gelcaps. They are huge but once I got them past my throat it was fine.

OMG Pamela - you are so funny

TracyK- I had a peach, very deep peach tub and toilet in the house I bought, so I understand what you are saying. My dad had the green set, my mom actually picked them out!!!! everything was green, late 1970's - but as much as step mom hated it - she has changed the bathroom colors a few times, and it always looked nice and you almost didn't notice the green as much. As for rent, take a deep breath, if it is meant to be it will be, I know it is a lot of money, shoot, I'm really suffering here myself. But being on a budget I have learned how to shop. Walmart has tuna 3oz packs for .88 (on sale for .79 this week. LOL) and I have lots of tuna, like you and your bologna.

I will send prayers your way!

I am going to shower and get ready to go on an adventure. I am going to bring in my application and resume to my surgeon- he is hiring in his dept.

GOOD MORNING!

OMG - Pam you are sooooooooooooooooooo bad! LOL especially because we were asleep by 9:00 p.m. NO wedding night fun......

My sis did take some pics so when I get them downloaded I will post a few.

I am married and no I don't feel any different.. I guess it does take the pressure off the March Ceremony. My son had to go with us since his daycare closes at 5p..... he sat with grandma and she explained to him that Mommy and Charles were "just practicing" It seemed to work, because he didn't say anything about it.........

We went to dinner where I tried to eat a steak................. WRONG.. I am just too tight... so I have leftover filet mignon.. cooked rare.... ANYTakers??? :D

So we get home and there were a bunch of balloons shoved in our door with a gift...... I thought it was my mom and sis, but no it was from my work bud (the only ONE at work that knows I'm banded) and her daughter.... it was SOOOOOOOOOOO cute........ a card, sexy underwear for him, a THONG for me (yeah right) toothpaste, tooth brushes, body spray, chocholate and a box of those white "fancy cakes" (they had planned on making a wedding cake out of them but it was too warm and windy............. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute and so thoughtful a complete suprise....... I did eat a fancy cake and I had a glass of wine with dinner................ OH and I wore my WWJD bracelett so my violet sistahs were WITH me!

So, just to review Tracy... cake & wine go down fine & there was no wedding night nookie. :D Oh, and today you've worn a thong to work for "show & tell" w/the nuns!

Congratulations, you old married lady!

Yaaay Tracy congrats!!!

Update on my port... got this e-mail last night:

Tim got a call back from Allergan. The cost for the port is going to be $590.00 and they said they were on back order. Tim is going to look in the OR and see if they have a port they can use, then replace it with the ordered one when it gets here. I will let you know the outcome of that.

I don't know if we are going to be able to get it arranged this week or not until we get all of these questions answered.

So, $1,500 + $590.. so much for warranties. And backordered? What does THAT mean! How can they be out of ports for crying out loud!

I e-mailed back asking what kind of time line that is. A week? A month? A year? SIGH.

Laura,

That sucks!!! It seems that you shouldn't have to pay that much!!! What is a warranty for? I don't know which is worse having to have more surgery, or having to pay another $2100!!!

Thank you all for welcoming me to your group. You all seem like lots of fun. I had my 3rd fill last week. It's okay, but not as restricted as I would like. I need to wait until October 1st to get my next one. I don't have insurance right now, and I am sure it is pricey to self-pay. I'll just have to stay self-motivated and keep a watchful eye on the food scale!

My weight seems to be slowing down to a pound a week. So I am hoping with the next fill I will be fuller faster.

Well you all have a great day!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
