Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Yes Terry, that's exactly what I try to do, sort of zen out on the thing. When I first started doing it I'd find that I was saying mean things to myself while huffing & puffing, like "I'm such a fat ass!" and it dawned on me that THAT wasn't good! :omg: I want it to be a positive experience, physically, mentally, & emotionally, so I started w/the + affirmations. I also do focus on my breathing and my muscles moving, etc... I think that mentality has come from the aqua pilates I've done all summer. Yay!

Hmmm Pam, that's odd cuz' that's why I LIKE the elliptical... it seemed easier on my knees/joints as it's a round motion & not just up & down... isn't that funny? (not ha ha funny, ironic) + I like the arms going, too... it just seems like it flows for me...

I don't "count" anything, really... I just keep a general awareness in my head of each day's intake... I figure roughly 300 cals each meal, 15 or so carbs each meal, 25 or so grams of Protein each meal... I tend to eat basically the same each day (well, weekends can get crazy, but usually the weeks are somewhat routine), so a Protein Shake w/micellar milk for b'fast, small salad w/3 oz of some kind of meat + lf cheese or a few olives or a t of sunflower seeds + spritz dressing, and a small portion (3oz) of whatever main course meat I make for the family + small veggie OR another pro shake if I'm really trying to drop the lbs (like now... I'm on fire to get to -50!). So really there's no math involved... just healthy choices! Gotta love the band!

hello all - interview went well, and I so want this job, it is perfect for a non construction job. I did 2 phone and 1 personal interviews and feel that i have a shot, Planning on starting work in 3 weeks, but on the other hand, not counting my chickens, because it is so depressing when I feel that things go so well and then i get the call or letter... thank you but f' off, we don't want you. So I'll know next Wed or Thurs but so want this.

Pam - yes I don't know how I do it either sometimes, I never got much sleep but now that I'm working a physical job, I need more than I'm getting.

You gals are all so busy today...

Michelle - I hate that thing too, and i'm right there with Pam - It killed myknees so i just don't want to get back on it. Water aerobics here I come!

I think I'm going to take a little nap, I don't have to go to work tonight but am so very tired...

Glad to hear it went well, Jen... fingers crossed for you!

Just threw together some stuff I had in the kitch for lunch & thought I'd share: 3 oz cooked chicken (I used leftover rotisserie chix), 1 T light mayo, curry powder to taste, 1 rib of celery diced, 1/2 handful of cashews, 1/2 handful grapes sliced... mix it up & voila... curried chicken salad. It was mmmmmmmmm!

Off to school parent volunteer training... seeing how I WROTE the whole program a few years ago, you'd think I'd get a pass on the annual "mandatory" meeting, but no... so off to school I go! ;)

Laura that is hysterical! I forwarded it to several of my friends who are moms... what a hoot!

Tracy... I got confused... first you talked about bms, then "elimination"... took me a min to figure out you were talking about Big Bro! ha ha!

So I went to the meeting... haven't seen most of these folks since right after I had surgery... none of them knows I had it unless the town gossip told them (& she knows, so she could've)... and NO ONE says ANYTHING about my wt loss!! Booo! That's not right! 47 lbs & no one notices??? Bummer. I guess I *am* still a fat ass! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'll try again tonight at the PTA meeting.

Hi ladies! I hate cheese! I only like a mexican cheese called Queso Fresco and only because it tastes like milk. It's not melty, it's a crumbly cheese. I've been bad today. My co-worker ran to Sonic this afternoon and asked if we wanted anything and I was craving a strawberry Limeade. Sugar and carbonation, two big no no's... Oh well, it was good. No dessert for me tonight...

hair is now falling out at a normal rate too... I was scared i was going to go bald... I am so vain about my hair. Since I've always been on the chunky side I felt that that was my only appealing feature....

OMG. I laughed 'til I cried. I'm still reading all the comments....and ran across this. She says, "I saw the funniest T-shirt the other day. It said, 'They say I have ADD, but they just don't understand Oh look! A chicken!'

Yeah, I've been reading her blog here at work too. She is hilarious! I couldn't imagine 6 kids.. and time to blog.. whew!!!!

In other news, DH just got back from clinic. I should have gone, men are so braindead sometimes!

They said his large intestines have been storing fecal matter, and has become a large mass and his intestines are all stretched out.

So they told him to take magnesium citrate tonight (hmm.. I've done this!) and they are setting him up an appt. with their surgeon to see if they need to operate.

So this is our conversation..

Me: Does it have a name? (I like to google everything)

Him: I dunno

Me: Is it life threatening?

Him: I dunno

Me: Well, when are they setting up the appointment??

Him: I guess in a day or two

Me: Well no one is open on weekends, so tomorrow?

Him: I dunno

Me: So.. what if they can't get you till next week? Will your intestines explode???

Him: I dunno.

Me: He's going to call and let you know when the appointment is today?

Him: I think so, I told him to leave me a message on my cell phone.

ARGH!

I've been trying to google with what little information I have, but nothing pulls up for it. I'm also thinking how DH might be getting a colonoscopy. EEK! I am not going to tell him that, he might go running for the hills.

Anyone have any info on this? He has not been constipated or diarhea or anything unusual.. but they said he's storing little bits of poo that are now lots of poo.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
