Hi violets

just getting in from work and checking in.

Laura - with your skewers (sp) marinate your veggies/meat in your balsamic dressing with a touch of evoo. Add a little extra garlic if you would like? let them soak over night. I've done that before with regular italian dressing.

So- I had a mini phone interview Last thursday and got a call today to go in for a "second" interview. The pay is around $30k/year, which is still a huge pay cut from where I was but so much more than I'm making now. you know the drill... cross it all!

Well - i'm going to bed, have to get up at 6:30 dd starts school tomorrow and has to be out for the bus at 7am! YUCK. Good thing is I'll be hitting the gym for 9am Water aerobics class

As for restriction. I still have a lot. I don't know if stress is helping but I can't eat much. I did 2 shakes and a bowl of lettuce and tuna for dinner. The only problem is I know I can eat, so I wanted a few wings at work tonight. I am not going to cave! I will do this for the week and get my shit together

have a great night all!

I am in momma grizzley mode right now.

Tracy I feel for you...For 18 yrs I never received any payments from my ex for my kids. He always worked under the table, and for whatever reason, they never took his license or locked him up...I didn't pursue it much simply because I didn't care if he was in their lives - my life was fine without the drama. I did ONE time receive his IRS refund of $2500 when he DID work a real job, and I laughed my ass off about it for years after that. I know he had to be pisssssssssssssssed!!!! God I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he got that notice.

Anyway, now that the kids are over 18, all the sudden he wants a relationship with them. Never in 18 yrs did he even call to say Happy Birthday. I don't bad mouth him to the girls, they know how I feel. But if they want to pursue something they can...will I resent the fact?? YES! But I'll let them come to their own conclusions so that years from now they can't say that I persuaded their thinking LOL. So far they haven't reciprocated the phone calls, but who knows? If he's changed (ya right), then more power to him to finally step up and be a dad...

He sucks.

Tracy- That's cause God blessed you with a doctor who will FILL YOU UP!!!!!!! lol

I get more and more frustrated with my doctor, reading how all you violets are finding your good restriction and here I am, less restricted than the month before, which was barely even restricted compared to bandster hell. BAH!

Chickin in a biskit is a nice snack for me, they actually fill me up well. I eat about 4 of those at once. But again, if I got to the point I couldn't eat them due to restriction--I'm OK with that!!!

Terri-Thanks for the link, that's one of the websites I browse frequently, but they are the ones that push really fancy dishes, mexican dishes, and FISH OUT THE WAZOO! (I looked up their low-calorie dishes). That might be where I got the crescent roll recipe I shared earlier.

I sure wish my doc would "fill me up"!!! He thinks that I'm doing too good for a fill so my next appt isn't until OCTOBER 16th!!! I'll gain back half of my lost weight by then! Depending on how I'm doing, if I don't lose anything within the next 2 weeks or if I see myself gaining, my butt will sit on his door step until he gives me a fill!

As for fills I find it interesting how this all works. My Dr. is very good about giving me a fill. She never makes me wait. I have also found out over the past few months of INSURANCE HELL that since I was a self pay, the price included 2 years of monthly visits and fills. I paid the Dr. $4400, I found out last week that if insurance would have paid, it would have been around $2300 and just 6 weeks of follow up, but with insurance paying....It is just interesting how they can change it soo much between self pay and insurance. I am also having a very difficult time with the hospital over this, I gave them $10800 for my lap band, but had it in conjunction with a insurance paying, take more time, hurts more, blah blah blah hernia surgery. Now that there is money left over the hospital doesn't want to give me the extra!! They keep saying that I knew going into this the cost. That is true, I did, but if there is money left over, why does the hospital get to keep it? Can you tell I am aggravated?

Well this was just supposed to be about our fills....Sorry

Jane

Denise - I get support but because dbf is out of work it is so screwed up. Right now I'm $1500 in the hole and because i'm only making $10/hr I really depend on it to live. He has not taken me back to court to reduce it but he is on long term disability from his motorcycle accident. I have to deal with it today and it makes me sick.

anyway - off to get dd on the bus. first day of school then going to make it over to Water aerobics

Jane - No, this isn't right and you know it!! Write a letter to the adminstrator of the hospital, with a copy to the BBB and the state attorney general's office. Notify them that if you don't have your refund in 10 days you will be filing a lawsuit. Then do it. Alternatively, find a cheap lawyer in the phone book and pay them $50 (?) to write a threatening letter for you. Hospitals and insurance companies will rip you off however they can. They make their bills, statements and settlements so damn complicated for a reason!! It makes me so mad that people here at LBT (like Michelle) had sooooo many problems getting insurance to pay!! They had to file appeal after appeal and then they get approved??!?!? Why does it have to be so freakin' complicated?! I hate to think of the insurance nightmares one would have if you had an ongoing serious illness. Boggles the mind. I think they count on people to just throw their hands up and surrender in exhaustion.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox.

This morning! Breathing is over rated right? :)
Tracy...I am so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!! Just goes to show that you've obviously been doing some hard work and you deserve to button those jeans, girlfriend!!

I'm having a grumpy day. :tired Very grumpy. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
