I'm eating leftover chicken from last night and it is harder today... last night it was sooooooo juicy I didn'thave to worry.

Maybe you need an unfill like TracyK

I have found that I can not eat burgers OUT and I'm having a hard time with all things cooked on the grill. Brats and anything with fillers that swell don't go down either.......

I have had no problem with spahghetti meat sauce, meatloaf, sloppy joe meat...... (all made with ground beef at home) these are regular meals dbf

This week I will be baking pork steak in the Ragu Roasted Garlic Alfredo sauce with a can of mushrooms........ I cook it on 225 for a couple hours and let me tell you it is so tender it will melt in my mouth, so I don't have any worries about it getting stuck......

This was a staple meal when I was single and losing on Low Carb... dbf doesn't DO pork so I don't have it any more.. but he is gone all week

someone came in my office.. gotta go

Hey All

I'm finally getting my first fill tomorrow. They couldn't do it at the doctor's office so I had to schedule it at the hospital. It doesn't seem "right". The doctor only tried once to get my port and said he couldn't feel it and that we'd have to do it I guess under floroscopy. Anyone else had this problem?

I swear I get away from the Shrinking Violets for a week and there's soooo much to catch up on. But it's funny, just when I think you're all living the lapband life with fills and all, I get back to check up on things and I can still relate to everything you guys are chatting about.

I'm so glad that I'm not alone. I've felt like a total pig about my eating lateley. I can't eat as much as I used to, but eat more than I know that I should and feel guilty. I know getting my fill will make the world of difference and it will what I signed up for in the first place.

One good thing is that the doctor said doing the fill under the scope means he can zero in on my 'sweet spot' and will have fewer adjustments.

I'm so nervous and anxious to start this new venture and really get things rolling.

SO MY QUESTION TO ALL IS - HAVE ALL THE APRIL BANDSTERS HAD THEIR FIRST FILL???? OR AM I THE LAST???

Maybe.....maybe not! Everyone's different!! I had restriction like that for about 3 days then it went away. TracyK had less than 1cc for her first fill and is going back for a slight UNfill she was so tight. You never know 'til you get there!

I've had one fill and felt no restriction at all. I stick with the basics in eating and am doing very well. I didn't get a second fill on schedule because I was losing and not hungry in between meals and the doc gave me the option to wait another month. I go back on the 30th and probably will get a fill. My only problem now is eating too fast. I stay with the correct portions, but I don't spend 1/2 hour eating. Perhaps that will change with my 2nd fill.

Tammy, I've had two fills already. Only the first few days do you feel like you did when you came out of surgery. For me, it loosens up after that. About two weeks after my first fill I was back to eating big portions without having to be diligent about my chewing. Right now it's been about 10 days since my second fill and I feel restricted and am having to be really good about my chewing. Takes me about 1/2 hour to finish about 1/2 cup of food. I'm tighter in the morning than in the evening. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone!

I called my dr office this morning and they let me go in today for the "unfill". I have been wondering all of this time why with .9 I had so much restriction. Well, I did not have .9 in there I had 1.4 of omnipaque (which the nurse said does cause more restriction for alot of people than saline does). How the other nurse confused 1.4 with .9 is beyond me. She even wrote .9 on my chart. Long story short....today she did take some out and know I am at .9

I am going to see how that goes but I can tell that it will be alot better. Next time I get a fill (if ever) I am going to make sure I have the same nurse who did it today.

So, this is the summary of what I have had

Surgery 4/11

Fill 5/11 to 1.5 (saline, which oddly enough I did just fine with)

6/26 Fill from .7 saline (the rest was lost from absorbtion) to 1.3 omnipaque

7/9 Unfill to .9 omnipaque

Everyone keep your fingers crossed and I will let you know how this one goes!! I am SO ready to try this out

Happy birthday to both of the birthday girls!!!!

By the way...I had lost 5.7 pounds on the dr scales since 6/26...not too shabby for all the liquids & mushies I have been on

Just stopping by to touch base, and let all of you know we are surviving. Keep in mind, I DO worry about Rick and his bleeding issues, but that aside he is a typical man....he is SICK......likely more so than I was, because how did I get up and go the next day (he asks with awe---), he tried, and come home early from work....I just bit my tongue and offered him some jello!! MEN!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (or belated birthday!!) Girlies!!! Hope your days are/were happy, and that this is the begining of a whole new year...one where your dreams really do come true!

Fills are as individual as everything else with this band!!! As of the 20th of this month, it will be one year since my last fill, and I still feel pretty good restriction. Not as tight as the begining of the time following the fill. But enough restriction, my amounts are seriously limited, but the foods I can eat are not. I find this a perfect place to be. The losing is slow now, but I am at an ok place with that. The key to me getting the last 20 something pounds off is exercise, not another fill, I fully believe. So----the race is on. I have to have the next 15 off, so that I can schedule my Tummy Tuck as planned for the early part of next year, and my Dr. prefers you to be at a steady weight for 4-6 months, so your body has settled before he operates. He actually said he would do it now, but I want to get down another 15 pounds. I was shocked by my body fat percentage measurment at Curves---it has lessened by half since I started. But I am building lots of muscle, I even shock myself!!!! Going to check it again tomorrow, and measure and weigh in---hoping for good news! Will let ya know!

Well I am having a homemade chicken pot pie kind of thing, leftovers abounded....so I made Rick some chicken Soup, and turned mine into this....kind of pot pie thing...hope it tastrs as good as it smells! Guess I'll go dig in. As usual, I made enough for a family of 4....when will I ever learn?????

Kat - wow, go you! getting ready for the tuck!

so that kind of shocked me only because I didn't realize that is a long process too.

So at what point did you find someone to do the surgery? Did you look into it in the beginning? at your 1/2 way point?

I am going to continue to work my butt off, but I know I'm going to need the tuck. I want a flat belly and after a c-section... there is almost no way that is going to happen and I am more than my 1/2 way point.

sorry for all the questions, just something I will be doing and would like to be there next spring... I'm on a mission

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
