Good Morning Violets,

Laura brought up a good point. I have my fill appointment at 4pm...what do/did you all eat before you appointments?

I've gained 2 pounds, but I weighed myself at the gym this morning. Key word was I WAS AT THE GYM...but I am not happy about 2 pounds. Could it be the ice cream? Oh well...what's a girl to do???

It is so funny how our posts have changed in the two months.

Wonder how our friend Sara is doing?

Bye ladies...please let me know what to eat before fill!

My doc allows you to eat whatever, I just didn't know how *I* would react so I ate lightly but enough to make sure I wouldn't be hungry afterwards. My doc allowed me soft foods yesterday the remainder of the day and back to regular food today.

Hello There...remember me?

I am not great today.. I feel the depression demon nipping at my heels!!

I have lost my feelings of fullness that I enjoyed so much and I had really started to turn a corner...feeling like a normal eater for the first time ever!! I know what's happening though.. it's the old diet mentality sneaking it's way back in..or at least trying to!!

I have to remember that I've lost weight and clothes sizes...funny I found myself being surprised Sunday when I got dressed and the clothes were loose...my mind was playing tricks on me and It was like I had put all the weight back on..feeling horrible & expecting a battle with the clothes! When I dressed myself I was actually surprised that they were loose..is that weird? In my MIND I had "put the weight back on!!!" and was feeling quite low!

I feel I am struggling mentally / emotionally right now...WHY??

I know I've been at a plateau since MAY 7th...maybe it's because my emotional state has dipped as there's a stall on the lbs?

I didn't want to come on here and admit to this, because all along I've tried to be so positive and upbeat and I've tried to talk others out of their bad periods so far in the journey. But I feel I can't join in here and it's because I'm hiding my current feelings & experience.

I guess these are the demons I have to be patient & strong enough to face on this journey...I know this. I feel I'm being dragged into feeling disappointed, when I really have nothing to be disappointed about. But my OLD SELF is in my ear saying..."this is just the same as it always has been, this time is no different, you are never gonna change"

I'm behind in my office work, I am feeling scatterbrained & unorganised..I feel I've let everything build up on me and my mind is feeling cluttered.

These are all factors in my waining confidence right now, and add to that loosing my "FULLNESS" has kinda knocked me off my feet a little.

I really felt safe, content & confident when I was on my "small food intake" I was not hungry..I had three meals a day, small ones..about 15-18 WW points and totally satisfied with that. Right now I feel I'm bargaining pouints again and I hate that. I hate knowing I could easily fulfill my quota and I fear I could just as easily exceed it!! I'd say I did today...I went to cinema and eat popcorn AND nachos!! That's so OLD me...Only a week ago I was terrified to even TRY popcorn for fear of it getting stuck..I guess I'm completely open?

Is the band totally open before filling? Does your stomach / appetite go back to pre band days? I am booked in for my first fill next TUES..

I have to fly to LONDON for this. They said doc would take this into account filling me ( I took this to mean I'd get a good shot!! LOL)

I hate to come on here & moan but I am feeling quite anxious today in particular and felt I couldn't really "chat" with you all while I was hiding this.

So..can anyone relate or console with this?:sick

Lunasa

I know exactally what you are saying and I can relate 100%. I felt so fat this weekend... ok I am but I've been feeling better and more confident - until this week

My friend I just went on vacation with is not speaking to me and she is my neighbor to boot, and my other neighbor is not speaking to me either, and i think she is to blame for the entire mess. They don't understand any of this so instead they are treating me like they are on a witch hunt and I'm the witch!!!

So I've been down in the dumps over lots of things. I went back to Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and having dinner because I have not lost an ounce since about the same time as you. But if I loose too much before next tues he won't do a fill, and if I don't lose I am beating myself up. How can you win,... I'm back to my old patterns too, not as bad...

So you are not alone. I wish I could say something other than that to help, but i'm mentally in a horrible place.

HUGS

Hey guys,

I know it's been a long time sine i was on here, but you guys post so much I can't keep up!! :-) Especially now that the busy season is hitting at my job.

BUT I wanted to say I've had my first fill, looking forward to my next one this Thursday (which just happens to be my 4 year wedding anniversary - guess no going out to eat to Celebrate huh? LOL).

Anyway, DH and I are in teh middle of buying our first home, busy season is hitting at work and my coworker who's training the new girls hasn't put them on the phones yet!! Plus, it's "that time of the month".......the last 2 WEEKS i've been eating all sorts of junk....cake, Cookies, ice cream, pop tarts, granola bars...you name it, if it's cheap, sweet, and completely bad for me, i've eaten it. I KNOW it's my emotional eating kicking in, but I'm dyin over here! It's SO hard not to snack, but unfortunately our kitchen is so small, it's hard to keep good 'snacks' around (plus cheese and meat are expensive, chips and cookies are cheap...and buying a house - well, we need to save everywhere we can).

Is anyone else going through this??? I can't wait to get my next fill...I'm hoping that when all I can eat is 3 high Protein meals that all this binging will stop....

if you want to reply to this, PLEASE reply directly to me, not on the board...i don't have the time to keep up with the board, but i'm really wanting to knwo if any of yuo have gone through this or are going through thixs.....

also, mom is doing awesome...she says she's struggling like I am with the diet part...but...she's doing great :)

Ok, ig otta go...TAKE CARE!!!

Lunasa-I will take my responses one at a time-On this one asking why you are struggling...you answered your own question with the very next sentence. If anyone had been on a plateau that long, they would be down. I know I would!!

I didn't want to come on here and admit to this, because all along I've tried to be so positive and upbeat and I've tried to talk others out of their bad periods so far in the journey. But I feel I can't join in here and it's because I'm hiding my current feelings & experience.

You are just human and nobody here expects a super hero. The great thing about this group of people is that we are all in the same boat. If the boat starts sinking, then someone here will share their life preserver with you :) If you hide your feelings and keep them all locked up, the "demons" will feed off of it. Don't let them win!

Is the band totally open before filling? Does your stomach / appetite go back to pre band days? I am booked in for my first fill next TUES..

Yes, that is why they call it bandster hell. After you get your fill, you will be back on track. If that one doesn't work, get another one!! I have ad my fill about 2 weeks now and so far so good!

I hate to come on here & moan but I am feeling quite anxious today in particular and felt I couldn't really "chat" with you all while I was hiding this.

I'll bet that at least 99.9 percent of us can relate to at least one thing you are going through. I know I can!! Take care and please let us know how you are!! This is the best place you could possibly come for people to listen and actually understand what you are saying....

Hi everyone....tomorow is pizza day at work. Makes me wanna call in sick!! lol Last week when they had it I had to go outside because they had all the pizzas across the hall from my office and the aroma was just unbearable...but, I didn't sin then and I won't sin tomorrow (if the good Lords willing)

Schexy-I take a Fluid pill once or twice a week. If I didn't I would probably explode. All I did was tell me dr that I am retaining too much fluid and asked for a fluid pill....you won't be sorry!!

Does anyone know a really good Protein Powder that maybe I can put in my morning coffee?

I would like to join the group. I had my surgey April 2, 07 and it is going okay. I have lost 43lbs since surgery but the scale has not moved in about 2 weeks. I am sticking around 1200 calories a day and exercising 4 to 5 days week. It is frustrating and any support or ideas to keep on track is welcome.

Lunasa~I second what Tracy said. I just wanted to add one more thing. The internet is an amazing forum. On here we can be anything, say anything, without shame. But the Violets thread is something else. Please don't ever feel embarrassed to say what you feel. Share w/ us the good, bad and ugly. We all "succeed and fail". This is the safe place for all of us. This is the place where we can come and say, "hey, I blew it today and ate the whole cake..." or "hey, I worked out 2 full workouts today" (which I am on the way to an hour long dance class, 2nd workout today!!!)

My point is this, please keep coming back and sharing...EVERYONE! This is for you, for us. You can fail here...we all have. You can succeed too. Either way, we are all here for you and for each other.

THIS IS FOR EVERY/ANY "FALLEN" VIOLET...KEEP COMING BACK HERE, SHARE W/ US, AND LET US HELP.

I love my violets, I need them. Ok, off the the gym AGAIN!

Welcome Istolo:

WOW 43lbs since surgery -- I only lost 20 since surgery. You are doing tremendous---be PROUD!

I stopped losing weight 2 weeks after surgery (went on mushies) till a week before my fill - when I went back to liquid Protein Drinks.< /p>

Keep your spirits up -- we ALL have gone through the same situation.

Hugs.

Gina

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
