Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Dynamo- Ok, I need your help LOL! I'll live vicariously through you guys who opt for a personal trainer.. come home and tell me what they taught you ;)

I was on all fours, and I tried with legs in a comfortable position, and then slightly back farther (trying to feel a good stretch while doing it), then I would suck my gut in, hold it, and let go.. it didn't seem to do much for me (except it always feels good for my back when I let my tummy go). Does it sound like I missed something? Is there a certain angle you're suppose to be in, do you let your back arch drop or no? (Couldn't decide with that either). I look forward to your response so I can try again!!

No, I've never really 'worked out' or done 'exercises'. In Middle school/high school, I was never in PE, I was in band since 4th grade.. so never did that stuff.. then when I dieted at 18 on Atkins, and I was able to move well, I did walk-a-mile video series (I really like those.. and plan to bust them out again soon). I bought a yoga for dummies video, and I'm too fat to do any of that.. No one ever taught me fun stuff!!

DD, DDIL and several other ladies are going to see Clay Aiken July 22 in Michigan. This will be my 5th time seeing and hearing him. I admit it, I'm a Claymate. I just LOVE his voice and he's so darn personable. It's always a great concert. Plus it's our annual ladies day/night out and we'll get a couple hotel rooms and Par-tay! There will definitely be some shopping in there too.

Laura - I think the exercise she's talking about is like a cat arching its back.... Arch your back, drop your head down, round your shoulders and hold your tummy in real tight while you inhale. Hold it for about 5 seconds then relax and straighten your back. Repeat this about 10 times. It IS also a yoga exercise, BTW.

I see there's 6 members on the thread now....anyone wanna go chat?

Morning everyone

So I ended up working for my step-mom's pizza shop, someone called in and I offered to help and don't need training.

Anyway, I got hungry while I was there so here is what I ate, a homemade meatball with some ricotta cheese and part skim mozz. It was huge in comparioson to what I had been eating and ate some, worked for 2 hrs and finished it. I woke up this am and gained 2lbs! I feel bloated, I drank extra Water last night because it was so hot in there and never had to pee. I did the calorie counter and i only had 1150 calories yesterday.

How frustrating is it when you do what you are suppose to and gain wieght. I could have just had pizza or the wings that we cooked for the staff. but the funny thing was, I had no desire to have any of it.

And since I'm not getting very far with my nutritionist, I don't know what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it.

Oh for the job update - I did get a job at the Home Depot, not what i want to do, I have 2 kids, 1 being 3 and they require me to be available from 6am to 10pm which is almost impossible, then they were suppose to call me on Wed to schedule orientation and guess what, they called me at 3pm yesterday to start a full weekend 8-5 today. I still have a ton of homework to do and a final next week. I can't do that and with a 3 year old, how can I work crazy hours on less than a days notice? It is not like I have my dbf living with me or really here to help anyway, he works 11-7 and sleeps during the day.

I just called and told them I just couldn't make it today - if they still want me to start, they are going to have to wait until I'm really completely done with school before i start a schedule I still don't know if it is going to work.

Keep your fingers crossed I find another job quickly!

Afternoon everybody!!

Wow, just read 3-4 pages to catch up!!

Teach congratulations on your hubby geting aproved, you must be so pleased! I laughed when I saw the pic of your hair!! You know, when I was at junior school, I remember this secretary lady having a violet rinse in her hair!! You definately look thinner in the face too against your profile pic:clap2:

Pam congrats on getting into smaller clothes & knickers!!

Well I went to see my consultant yesterday evening, and the dietician lady. Ok my muscle level apparently needs to be 76-79, when I first went there (Pre surgery) it was 40%.....Dadadaaaaaaa....it is now 50.03%!!!! I was soooooo pleased, I have been exercising like mad, but also Ive lost fat, so maybe thats helped too. Ive been keeping a food & exercise diary since being banded, so I took that a long with me, they were both pleased. Ok my fill.....I was nervous, I must be honest, as I wasnt sure what to expect, anyway I had to lie down on the couch, he couldnt find my port at first, lol, he said have you ever felt it, I just laughed and said its under all my fat....anyway in the end he put a pillow under my back so that my abdomen stuck out more, by this point I had my eyes shut tight, lol, he must have put a local in first, then he put 4 mls in my band (its a 10ml band Ive got) he said the dietician will phone me in a week to see how Im getting on, but he said the next fill was going to be in 3 months time (so mid August I guess) after all of the apprihension...it was fine! Over in a matter of minutes. After I had to drink some Water, then eat half a pot of yougart, to show the band wasnt too tight.

When I got home about 8pm, Dave wasnt back from work still, so I got dinner ready, Id only had cottage cheese & a yoguart all day, I had Soup just in case after my 1st fill, so anyway, down the village hall this weekend theres a beer tent, as theres a steam train special weekend, so Dave and I go along to it and met up with my parents and my aunt and uncle are down staying at mums, well Im not a beer drinker, but I said to the guy behind the beer stall, have you got something sweetish (bearing in mind I felt pretty tired with hardly eating and a long old day at work, then my fill) so he got me a pint of this stuff called 'behind the buffers'?? Its a cornish beer, anyway, it tasted lovely, so an hr later Dave got me half a pint more of this stuff, by this time I was off my head, and mum had to hold onto me on the way home....anyway I did something really really silly when I got in, there was a bottle of red wine (half gone) in the kitchen, so I poured myself a glass in a drunken state, anyway, 1/2hr later I was so ill, omg......I still feel ill now :cry

Anyway guess what.....Ive gone and ordered my 1st charm ;) I've lost a stone and a half.....(21lbs) so its official, lol, my next goal is to lose another 7lbs (for charm no 2!!)

have a lovely weekend everyone,

Take care

JENN!!! You're NOT doing anything wrong!! You've already answered your own question! 2# of water weight is all it is! My weight fluctuates 2-3# a day!! Remember a while back I posted my weight chart? Remember what it looked like? Looks like a childs drawing of the Himalayas! I absolutely guarantee you that if you drink your water it will be gone by tomorrow or the next day and you may even see a new number! Especially with warmer weathr coming on, you need to get used to seeing your weight fluctuate this way. There is no need to add this kind of stress to your life by worrying about a measley 2#....learn to roll with it.

What a bummer about the HOme Depot thing. Didn't they know your situation going in? Jeez. Retail!! My son works at a grocery store and I swear they would work him to death if they could. Hello?? He's a student!! I'm about to go down there myself and kick some a**. Sorry, Jenn. I know you're trying so hard to keep it all together. Keep breathing and think positive.

OK Violets! Let's all really keep Jenn in our thoughts today and send her to the perfect job. Please take a minute to pray, meditate or visualize (or whatever you do) that this situation is resolved for her greatest good.

By the way, folks....I am SOOOOOOOO sore from working with the trainer that I can barely brush my teeth!! The worst part about it is that I can't take Advil--my wonder drug!! ;) I'm about to go buy a bunch o' infant drops if I have to!! I am miserable! Tear that box open right there in the drug store and gulp it all down! Can you just see that?!

Bad news...I have another appt. in an hour. :faint:

Terry

Thank you so much, I know the right thing has to be out there and the depot is not. They do think they can walk all over you!

OK - I'm going to hope it goes away and more. LOL

As for the advil, I do understand what you mean, working in the pizza shop, running around, reaching high for everything and having it be over 100degrees in there doing it all, My legs and butt were so sore I couldn't sleep. I get to go back to the gym on Monday after I get more homework done and get things somewhat under control. Plus I was told I could go back after 1 month which is Monday.

Jenn..

You've lost 24# in a month.. THAT'S WONDERFUL!!!! Just think what those 24# would have felt like if you had GAINED them all!! I took my monthly pics the other night and I was disappointed cause I didn't see a big difference between the two, but wow.. the clothes I can wear comfortably now that were embarrassingly tight a month ago makes me realize the BIG difference in just the 25# I've lost.

So keep doing what you're doing and don't worry about that dang scale. I only weigh once a week now and even if the figures don't budge very fast, I know the inches are coming off and I'm doing everything I can to make this work.

DH and I are working out in the backyard today. He is on a mission to get as much done as he can before his surgery in 10 days!

Everyone have a great Saturday, stick to the bandster rules and keep on shrink'n!!!

**SENDING JENN LOTS OF POWERFUL ENERGY, LOVE AND SUPPORT TODAY!!! FINISH SCHOOL WITH A BANG, THEN THE RIGHT JOB WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU!!! YOU'VE GOT THE VIOLETS BEHIND YOU...AND WHO WANTS TO MESS W/ 50 FAT WOMEN???? LOL, IT WILL HAPPEN HONEY!

Terry~ You poor thing. I am going to ask about a trainer too, because I really liked what you said about accountability. I think if I pay to have someone hold me accountable, I would do better. Sorry your so sore, but just think, this time next week, it will be a memory, and your body will be so much stronger!!

Sara~ Congrats on getting your fill! I think you're pioneer #2. I can't wait, and now you need to post what you are eating for the next few days. I am curious as to what eating will be like "on the other side". Now, I can eat too much, and although I am behaving 99% of the time, I am ready to drop weight! Anyway, keep us posted. Your drinking story was hilarious. I love to drink, but only about 2x a year, and now that I can't drink champagne:cry , it will just be Jack Daniels. So, you really need to be in the right frame of mind for Jack...it will be a while. Probably for my party in Oct.

Sure hope Tracy is having fun! My MIL is here and she made this wonderful pork roast, and some wonderful German noodles. I had a small spoon of noodles, (first Pasta since March) and some meat and gravy. But we are off to Breakfast, oh give me strength (or a fill).

HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES!!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
