(((((MICHELLE))))))

You're going to be just as strong and beautiful as you imagined...don't let that dream fade from your sight. It won't entirely all rest on the band..you are the one who is going to make it happen with or without, and you've already come as far as posting on here, that in itself is changing you..xx

It had a positive effect on you today knowing you had us all to lean on.

As you said take tonight to cry & be upset and tomorrow is a new day and tomorrow you will learn something new about yourself, that you are strong & beautiful no matter what surprises life carries your way..xx

Sweet Dreams darlin...my wishes are for you tonight..xx

Caught up on all my reading...tons of posts!!! I told my MIL I would call her right back (she called when I sat down to catch up)...that's been 45 minutes ago...WHEW!!!!

Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers...my FIL (MIL and FIL are no longer married...have a Step-MIL) is not doing well. His memory loss seems to be getting worse instead of better. Today he spent most of the days in the mid to late 1960's. I explained as best as I could to my kids (8, 6, 5 and 3 years old) what was going on with Papaw then took them to visit...I was afraid they might not get another chance to see him. He was very sweet and gave them hugs and told them they were beautiful, but they each had to introduce themselves to him. He just knows me as "that lady with all the kids." LOL His PCP and Neurologist seem to be disagreeing on the best course of treatment for him, so that's not helping any! Hopefully they'll get it all worked out!

Anyway, I'm gonna hit the bed...it's been a LONG day!

Oh yeah, on my exercise challenege...it really has been a challenge. I got on the treadmill yesterday and made it for only 12 minutes before I totally pooped out and had to quit. I ended up with a migraine...hopefully it's just the anemia...Pre-op, I was doing 45 minutes on the treadmill at 3.0 mph...yesterday I only got up to 2.1 mph...YUCK!!! I know it will get better, I'm just impatient, I guess...

Michelle and Sara, Thanks for your kind words of support. I just know the "new" incision will heal much better.

Brenners, I am sorry you are having port problems. Take care of yourself. This is just a small speed bump in your weight loss.

Michelle, I pray for you and your upcoming test. I believe in fate. God will take care of you!

Tracy, I also believe in Karma. You set yourself up for awhile. Now is the time to pray for that raise or new car! :) PS I graduated high school in Lansing. My parents still live in LV. Small world!

Mdrai,

I am so sorry to hear about your test findings. Many years ago I was a gastric specialist nurse; The condittion is called 'GORD' Gastric-oesphageal reflux disease: if it is 'Barretts Oesphagus', which can be treated with proton pump inhibitors for a couple of months to heal the area, and reduce production of acidthen the treatment is titrated down after a healing dose (the treatment they give is called PPI's drugs they act on the proton pumps which make acid in the cells, they are stronger that a histamine receptor drug H2s like ranitidine or cemetidine). Its where the gastric cells (caused by oesophagitis) log into the mucosal cells above the oesphageal sphicter muscle above the diaphram. They start to produce gastric production, in a low PH enviroment. They shouldalso give you lifestyle advice; It can be treated Mdrai, please dont lose hope. Talk to the gastric specialist, and ask for more information.

Have faith, were all here to support you xxxxxxxxxxx

((((BIG HUG))))

Love Sara xxxxxx

Good Morning all you Shrink'n Violets...

It sure is good to be back home though it was a great trip to see the nurse and nutritionist. My appointment for my first fill is June 5 at 8 a.m. so we'll have to head down the day before again. At least the Holiday Inn there has a discount for hospital patients and they have a great pool and hot tub.

I was cleared for soft food, so what am I having for breakfast.. My yogurt as usual! Guess I'm a creature of habit. Nothing else sounded good to me this morning, but I am looking forward to some tuna salad and green Beans for lunch.

I hope everyone has a great day and pray those with burdens will find them easier to handle as this new day begins.

Morning all!!

Firstly Michelle..start today with a moment to begin loving yourself today... close your eyes and imagine yourself as a small child standing alone & scared. Now imagine yourself as you are today giving that child a big hug and taking her fear away. Linger on that image today and see how you feel about yourself throughout the day. See if it makes any difference within...I find this excercise & imagery very powerful.

LOL...here's a good one.

Last night we're going to bed & DH says "I think you're having an affair!" LOLOLOLOL....of course he knows I'm NOT but he has observed the new DEDICATION in my life!!! My Violet affair!!

I just replied ah yeah, if you're not careful I'm gonna run away to lapland with a load of bandits!!

Yesterday when I had lunch , I obviously took in too much. I had about a small tin of salmon w mayo, a spoon of guacomole and a little bit of salsa, and I ate too much too fast. Maybe 4tbsp in total?

I find that it's hard slowing down mushies as there's not a lot to chew. Anyway I was yappin too much to concentrate. So after I ate I felt VERY full, not stuck or in pain just stuffed...that was at 2.30pm and I stayed that full for the rest of the day!! No dinner!!

Today I'll see how I get on having a smaller amt for lunch ( I still do a Protein Shake for breakfast) so that I can have dinner too. I've a lovely piece of fish stuffed with spinach & feta that I want to have!!

SARA MOS>>>>well done!!! You're doin GREAT!!!

Hi Sara - I'm doing fine! Went out to dinner with my family last night and ordered a chicken dish...Madiera Chicken...which was delish, but OMG!!:) When they brought out that plate full of food I almost fainted right there! It was enough for 5 meals at least! 2 chicken breasts pounded thin, lightly breaded, covered in some kind of wonderful cheese and madiera sauce, mushrooms, asparagus and a mound of mashed potatoes!! That plate must have had 2800 calories on it! (Do people really eat this much food?? Did I???) I had 1/2 of one breast and the tips from a few asparagus spears. My hubby helped with some of it and I brought the rest home. Well, I either ate too much, too fast or bites were too big (all of the above?) because I got a little bit of that PAIN in my sternum that said STOP! So, I do believe I am feeling more restriction...actually it's feeling just about right. I also am becoming familiar with the hiccup that tells me to stop, too. That's pretty handy! MAJOR CONGRATS to you on the 2# loss!! I'm so proud of you!!! :D

Judy - You REALLY are a Water bug, aren't you!!? Glad to hear you have that first fill scheduled...that'll be here before you know it! I'm in a rut with my bkfst too, but have been for 3 years! Cottage cheese and fruit...same ol' thing every morning usually...but I still love it. Breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day.

Michelle - I hope you woke up feeling better today! YOu've got a great attitude. You're gonna do just fine, I know it. Breathe deep, chin up and BELIEVE!!

Kelly - Sounds like you're perfectly normal. We're all going thru those same things. I had my first fill last Friday and it does help. Don't fret at all -- you'll be doing great in a week. :D

Have a wonderful day, lovely Violets!!

Bad News, Violets... :)

If it comes back that I do indeed have this (even after taking the reflux meds for the past 2 months), then I cannot have the surgery.

..

MICHELLE!!!!! OMG I would of been a wreck! I hope everything comes back ok on the next endoscopy.. I will be praying for you.

Don't beat yourself up .... you've done that enough (as we all have) You are right. we are all with you in spirit! Please let us know how it goes.

Michelle - I'm sorry to hear of your frustrations and sadness. I can completely understand how you feel. Well I know we can all understand how you feel. First, just the word "cancer" is scary.... and second your dream of a new life has been taken for at least the moment! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! When you start feeling down do what Lunusa is saying. That sounds very reassuring. Also like Terridoodle said, there is a GREAT chance for a mix-up! Several years ago after many tests I was told I may have breast cancer behind the muscle..... so the Drs took part of my breast and there was no cancer! What a blessing. So just remember how truly blessed you are with how far you have come and keep your chin up! We are routing for you.

Jenn, The reason you have not found a job yet is because the perfect job for you has not come along yet! Chin up as well!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
