Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

WOW..this thread goes fast!! That's great.:clap2:

To all that are now home recouping and those that are being banded my prayers for you.

I saw the surgeon yesterday. Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington, Texas. He and his whole staff were very friendly, professional and caring.

I got all the information for my Monday April 9th banding. Once I left his office I almost just passed out from fear!!

The *WHAT AM I DOING!!!* thing. All day long I had the jitters and now after a nights sleep I'm still scared but still on my journey to be banded.

I guess it was just information overload and what will be my life without food for the rest of my life.:(

My surgery will be done as an out patient. After I wake and they do a barium swallow I will go to a hotel a block away and spend the first night. I don't see the Doctor in the morning if I'm doing fine..we just go home.

My husband is so loving and supportive. (he didn't want me to have this

at first but now is onboard with **whatever I think I do to do**):kiss2:

I've bought everything on the list that I think I might need, keeping it in the truck of my car (two hour drive for surgery). I've had two C-Sections and a gallbladder surgery in the past so I'm hoping this is a piece of cake compared to them.

My Doctor sells a Protein power called Amaze RX. They had some to taste at the clinic and the vanilla and strawberry taste much better than the SlimFast, etc. It comes in a hugh containter and contains 17grams for two scoops of protein, 2grams of sugar. He requires one of these every morning (or something equal to the protein) forever. Only Breakfast though since he wants his patients to eat REAL protein 2 weeks out.

Good LUCK to All!

We have the same Doctor. I was banded on Wednesday. It is very fast, in and out. The nurse is wonderful (Judy). Ask her to show you her pic. before lapband. If you have any questions just ask me, you can send me a pm message. Good luck Monday, I'll keep you in my prayers:gluck:

Okay-- I'm on day 3 of Clear Liquids. It hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be, but IT IS SATURDAY, & I'm home. SO I'm trying to keep busy. I think i've already lost 4 lbs(WOO HOO). I'm not terribly hungry, but I think about eating alot.

Last night my DH was having PMS & was really negative about me having the surgery. He says he has a bad feeling that it's going to cause more health issues than it could help. I think he's just scared & insecure & he has never dealt with Change very well. However he DID take Thursday off so he could take me to the hospital & stuff. ( THis is really one of those times that I wish I had my mom here, I know she would support me & take care of me-- she died 11 years ago, but i still miss her)... Okay, I'm getting sobby. sorry. ANYWAY, I feel in my heart that this surgery is going to help me in the long run, so no matter what my DH says, I'm going through with it. I have you guys for support !!! THANKX

Thanks for the tip!!!! I wonder if it is an online deal too?

I went to Macy's and found the magic bullet for 59.99 and Macy's had ther knockoff brand Bella something? which was the same price but was on sale for 29.99 so I got it and it works great. Has the same amount of pieces, cups strainer blades etc.

Walgreens also has them for 59.99, and Target. Just call around to see who carries them. You'll find them in the blender isle.

I am happy to report that I LOVE the GRAPE FROST Isopure Protein Water I am finishing off my first bottle right now.

To me it tastes a bit like grape frost gatorade, but this puppy has 40 grams of protein and 55 grams of Calcium.< /p>

It is really tart, and I like that. I hope the rest of the flavors sit as well with me.

If you don't like tart drinks you would not like this.

I have not been hungry yet today, and I'm just going with it.. this has been my first protein of the day.

I could not sleep last night---note to self, no more spicy food late at night---I refluxed---YEeeeuuuuccchhhh!!!!

Terri---Wooo Hooo the weight loss has begun. Girl get ready to change that ticker on a steady basis---it is gonna be a regular job for you now!!! You can also find all the syrups at DaVinci's web site, and they offer sales, have a recipe section, and do some shipping specials. They ship fast---and I have never had a break! www.davincigourmet.com . I bought a really cool looking wine rack that sits in the wasted space deep corner of my kitchen counter, and it is filled with Syrup bottles!!! I also order from Torani---I compare the prices--and buy accordingly to the sales!

Sara---I do believe if you ever make a USA trip, you have lots of new USA family to visit!!! Where I am, there are no fabulous shopping malls (dangit) but we have amazing Indian Ruins, and are not to far south of some of the 14, 000 foot mountain passes---awesome ski resorts! And we are just north of true cactus filled, deserts! And the Kat817 is FREE!!!! If shopping malls are on your list, check out the website to mall of America, in Minnisota I think it is. Holy smoke, amusement parks, motels---all in a mall!!! I have a t shirt that my brother got me that says "Once you've seen a shopping center--you've seen a mall" (you've seen them all). A shopper he isn't!!

Teachlady---guess what---this is a dream that is going to come TRUE!

Well I need to go get some cleaning and cooking done, I have 23 people coming tomorrow---and I am grumpy about it!

I just love reading everyone' post.

I had to take a stress test yesterday, this is the final test before surgery. I hate them. So I'm sitting in the chair and the meds are going in that makes your heart race as if you are actually running the Boston marathon, my heart racing, I'm getting winded and I feel as if "m going to :faint: . The blood pressure cup is going and is getting tighter and tighter and if feels like it's cutting off my circulation, my arm is getting numb. It relaxes and then starts again. There are 3 techs in the room and they are all looking at each other and I go "WHAT"? I know something is wrong. They all say "nothing". (Yeah right!) Then they tell me that the reading is just a little high... Then they bring in a different maching and it starts all over again. This time they can't get my BP. Now I'm getting worried, first its to high and now they can't find it. I must be stroking out or something and I'm praying :help: .

Then they tell me it's not me but the equipment, my BP is fine. Next they have to take pictures of my heart and I have to sit in this chair that rotates as they scan my heart, lungs and kidneys. No prob. I'm still hooked to a EKG machine and it's keeping track of my heart beat and it beeps.

So I'm sittting there very still and it's beeping ...Beep .................Beep...................Beep, then all of a sudden it starts Beeping ....Beep...Beep,beep,beepbeeping all over the place. Now I'm think it didn't beep like this when the older lady sas doing it and now is beeping like crazy with me. I KNOW I'M HAVEING A HEART ATTACK!!!

Okay now, I tell myself calm down breathe, think happy thoughts, then I start praying please don't let me die, PLEASE! I don't want to go out like this!!!!!! The machine is going crazy, I'm losing it and know one is checking on me!!! I'm sure I dying. THEN the tech comes in and asked what's going on? I'm thinking your asking me, HELLO, I'M DYING HERE!!!

He walks over and presses on one of the ekg leads and said, oh it must be loose, fixes it and leaves the room. Now I'm relieved and Pissed at the same time. I had to redo the test again.

Funny huh!?! Wasn't when it was happening but I can laugh now. Everything is okay and I can get my band as scheduled on the 13th. YEAH ME:clap2: :( :clap2:

Hi everyone...

finally got the courage to tell me mother about the "procedure" As expected she was fine & happy that I'm doing this.

Funny though she of went into the whole Sharon Osbourne thing & said I should try to get in touch with her to talk about it!! LOL... my mam thinks she knows these people, because she sees them every day on TV... she talks about Oprah as if she's upstairs!:(

Anyway I told her there was no need to contact Mrs O as I have my own supporting gang of buddies on line to talk to about it! Funny though..

SARA MOS...I saw a few pages back you had trouble breathing in recovery & also post op... are you ok?

I am a smoker too & now I'm wondering if I'm gonna have a bit of difficulty. :phanvan

Hi, I'm Sherri and am scheduled to have my Lap Band on April 23 :clap2: finally!!! I have never posted a message on any forum of any kind, but thought since Georgia doesn't seem to have any support groups close to Newnan, I had better find one on line. :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
