Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hang in there Jennifer! Have you thought about doing something relaxing maybe going to the movies, or maybe a quick trip to the spa for a massage?

I am actually pretty calm but I can't believe next week at this time I will be banded! :P I just can't wait to get on to the next phase.

I'm getting ready to get dress and go to the fabric store and feel fabric!! That always makes me feel better. Then I think I'll come home and work on one of my many craft projects. I'm so glad I've cleaned my frig. out. Now there is nothing sweet to eat in it.

Anytime!! I am a crafter too, mostly scrapbooking. You are doing great. Another thing I like to do is cut out pictures from the glam magazines and paste them on posterboard. I keep it in my bathroom to remind me every morning of what I am working towards. :P

Hang in there. Enjoy the fabrics. I love that too!

Hi Jennifer,

Hang in there!! I was pretty stressy and irritable a week or so ago, I am anxious though. Just think, all the waiting etc will be over soon, and it will be So So worth it!! :P

Just think, this time next year we will be slimmer, fitter, and hopfully happier

I'm not sure what the answer is, a hot bath, or doing your craft projects (I used to love making things)

Hey great idea shine on re poster board!

I found out yesterday that my doc is now requiring a PRE-OP diet!

I start MONDAY!!!!!!! God HELP ME!!! 4 Protein Shakes a day, SF Jello, SF popsicles...... the only good thing is that it will force this farewell to food tour to STOP!!!!!!!

I'm thinking of puttin all our starting weights into a spreadsheet... am I crazy? What do you think?

Heather, I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers.

Sara, it's so funny that you said that about fabrics. I go to the mall whenever I'm stressed just to feel the fabrics of the clothes. It's weird just how soothing that can be!

I really do feel a shift in the air...so to speak... within our little thread. If you read back many of us, including myself, were freaking out. Now it seems that the April bandsters as a group, though still excited and anxious, are embracing the challenges ahead instead of fearing them. There is much more talk about doing therapy and acceptance of the new. Anyway, just some thoughts before I get off my butt and ride my bike.

STAY STRONG!

Hey.... one last thought. I know we talked about it but what about an exercise challenge? Exercise is VERY important pre-op and we all know the benefits post op. Let's start with something really simple like 4 days a week for fifteen minutes each. So 16 sessions for the month of April? I don't know about you guys but exercise is certainly going to be a challenge and I'd love the support. Let me know if you're interested or if you think I'm crazy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
