aayers88 31 Posted January 17, 2013 Hi! I'm going to be done on Feb 4th with my 6 month diet. After all the info has been sent in to the insurance (BCBS) how long on average was everyone's wait time! I'm getting impatient and anxious haha!
nienie 113 Posted January 17, 2013 I Think my approval took 2-3 weeks. I was done Nov 30th and found out unofficially Dec 19 and officially 26th.. I have surgery Jan
Vicki Loichinger 444 Posted January 17, 2013 around two weeks or so. depends on if they come back asking for some clarification or something. but probably about two weeks. but don't freak out if it is a little longer, they do things in their TIME, which seems a lot different then ours, lol. Waiting is the hardest part. Wishing you the best

misscelia 24 Posted January 18, 2013 I'm extremely anxious lol, my bmi is at 40.7 with no comb. So I'm worried about getting denied, I was kinda hoping to have surgery in feb but I doubt it now lol
aayers88 31 Posted January 18, 2013 Why would you get denied because of your BMI? Is there a certain range you has to meet or something?
Smilejoelle1 19 Posted January 18, 2013 I'm in the same boat of having my own date in mind. Best wishes ladies!
misscelia 24 Posted January 18, 2013 I'm just worried insurance will ask to go back 5 years, I guess it's just me being super nervous & worried lol. Best of luck to both of you as well (:
noonie 0 Posted January 23, 2013 The request/file went in on 1/14 and I was approved 1/22. My BMI is < 40 with comorbids. It sat on the screening nurse's desk for 1 week before being sent to physician review. The BCBS physician approved it almost as soon as they got it. This is BCBS federal. aayers88 31 Posted January 23, 2013 Noonie: that's pretty awesome...the turnaround time was basically a week. I'm goin to call the nurse the next day (Tuesday) to see make sure she has everything she needs to send. If I'm approved that quick I would be ecstatic!! Not to sound dumb, but what are comorbids? Would that be like if I was diagnosed with sleep apnea? And my BMI is around 45 I believe.
noonie 0 Posted January 23, 2013 yes, apnea, diabetes, hypertension, etc. are comorbidities. You shouldn't need then with a BMI > 40.
aayers88 31 Posted January 23, 2013 I should be an easy approval then (hopefully). Do you have your surgery date?
vachick64 32 Posted January 31, 2013 I have Carefirst BCBS and have been waiting 2 weeks so far. Checked with the surgical group and they said it "could" take 45 days!! I'm going crazy waiting. I have almost all of my prerequisites done so hopefully i can get a quick surgery date. Has anyone else dealt with Carefirst?
