So, I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and one of the nurses said that I will only be given 30cc's of Water in the hospital. I did re-ask her and yes she said 30cc's which is 2 tbs. I am wondering if this is accurate. Wouldn't they want us to drink. Pre op is a different facility than the hospital.

Thoughts, thanks

I was only given 20CC at a time. I had to drink it over a half hour. They start you out very very slow. And even with it being so little, it can be a challenge. Your pouch is so delicate you can't run the risk of busting it open. You'll be fine. :-)

Thanks for your note. The nurse said that this waste grand total of what I would get before I went home and that is what shocked me. I appreciate you telling me that they start us slow at least I can hope to try drinking more than 30cc's in 3 days. Again thanks

Thanks Nicole. I purchased this new blistex gel Chapstick and had my husband try it as he is a truck driver and always chapped and he stole it so I need to buy more before wed the 23rs. I also got regular Chapstick too which is a gold standard.

Good luck, you will be fine. I never felt any different on the inside. No pain. The only pain was the laproscopic sites on the outside.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
