Birth Control Problems!

Recommended Posts

I am taking birth control pills. Started taking them a week ago. When I take them my pouch just doesn't agree and I feel sick all day. Can't eat or drink at all without getting close to throwing up. What other options do you ladies recommend for birth control besides the pill.

I am on the nuvaring and I love it. I don't have to swallow and remember pills.. I can skip periods if I want. Also it's free now in Ohio. I think though I may get an Implant just in case if I get the surgery.

I have been on depo for three years and I love it. When you first start it weight gain can happen but its only 10-15 lb but thats about it as side effects go.

I've been through Alesse and Seasonale but both gave me Migraines and killer mood swings. I just chucked the pill and am going to take my chances with mother nature. I feel better already. I'm 39 and will be paying off the fertility treatments for my 4-year-old for years. I can't quite believe that I'll suddenly turn up pregnant.

Yes, be prepared to laugh if I post I'm pregnant soon.

I have the mirena. No weight gain. No Migraines. Don't have to think about it for five years. Love it. Just had my second one put in.

I see there's a lot of talk here about birth control. Did your doctors require you to use a BC option or is this your choice? I've got a long history of infertility issues (our daughter is adopted) and have never really needed BC. I did take Ortho for a couple months when I was about 19 to try and regulate my period but they made me sick and I stopped using them. I've never been regular since. Just curious.

My doctor has told me that I must take it. I have PCOS and he said my fertility could improve very quickly after surgery and getting pregnant too soon after surgery is very dangerous.

It's up to you, My surgeon recommends using two forms of BC for the first 18 months after surgery because of the increased fertility rate. It's really dangerous to both mom and baby if you get pregnant in the first 18 months because of body changes and limited nutrition coming in.

hmmm....that's interesting. No one has mentioned this as a possibility to me and he's aware of our past failed infertility treatments. Guess I better be bringing this up the next time I meet with them on 5/10. Thanks ;-)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
