I had coffee today with skim plus milk. Is caffinated coffee ok to drink? Most surgeons say no' date=' but I'm "cheating" and having a cup today because I need the caffeine and I miss it terribly. I will only have 1 a day.[/quote']

Coffee acts like a Diuretic and can Dehydrate you!!

I have been having a cup every morning for the last 2 weeks, strange, because it's normally maybe twice a week, anywho...I have just been using regular coffeemate with no issues and a sweet-n-low packet, yummmmmmm! but I have SF peppermint mocha coffeemate liquid and that is (angels singing) Heaven!!!!!

Thanks! It didn't sit well with me anyway. It gave me heartburn and caused stomach pain. Oh well!

My nutritionist said for every 8 oz of coffee you must add 16oz of Water to your daily intake.

When I realized this morning that I was out of my Decaf K-Cups I broke down and went for my old favorite CAFFEINATED FRENCH ROAST ;-) My surgeon allows for a cup a day of caffeinated but I haven't had any since preop... I've got to say, I have so much more energy I'm not sure if I'll be able to go back to the decaf... now I just need to up my Water intake to compensate for it... might be a little work but its so worth it to not feel like a zombie!

My biggest thing is trying to get over the guilt feelings for drinking regular coffee

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
