Did they tell you what they were requiring? It may just be something your surgeon needs to take care of. Don't let them slack, keep on them. I had to or would never have gotten the surgery. If it's something you need to do, you are more in control. Don;t lose hope.

Some back-ground: In May I was denied by BS NV as well the 1st tiem around-no "approved co-morbidities" and my BMI was not high enough. I then got a sleep apnea test, it was an approved co-morb, but they said I was not "bad enough" to need a cpap machine. I kept jumping through hoops, and unfortunately gained weight from stress and frustration, plus not paying attention to my eating habits. November my BMI was enough (had to be 40 or higher) to qualify for any of the 3 surgeries offered. I stressed about it and could not be at ease unti lthey put me on the table in the OR and put the gas mask on my face. It was a very long process to me and I would do it again and again. I am only 3 days post-op, still sore, still new at this and have been challenged with food more than once, BUT-I WILL be around for my kids graduations, weddings and grandbabies! That was not a guarentee before the surgery.

Best of luck to you-if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

I agree. Keep working with your doc to see what is needed and if necessary file an appeal. Best wishes :)

What I did was mail every medical record i could obtain on myself since being overweight and mailed each and every stack to my insurance company.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
