Well I'm half way through the process, hoping to have surgery in may or June. The wife had RNY a year ago and is doing awesome really awesome. She had Pcos and we have tried for years to have a baby and now that she has had Rny and has lost a lot if weight, she is now pregnant :) which is awesome so excited!!! But wondering if I should post pone my surgery cause my surgery date should be in June and the kid due date is August. I just want to make sure I'm good to go and all healed up for when the kid comes. Think a month to a month and half is enough time in between ?

I agree. Go for it. That way when your baby is born, all three of you will be starting a new life together.

It's going to be a crazy couple months. Im sure I can get through it all. If I don't do it now, who knows when. Still have 5 months to get everything in order, right?

I would go for it before the baby comes. You won't really have another opportunity for the next 18 years lol.

I'm with everyone else! You totally need to do it before. That way you've done the hardest of the healing portion. Cause when the baby comes its going to be a while before you and your wife will feel like you can take a couple weeks for you to be out of service. If you know what I mean.... I definitely say do it start your whole family off on the right foot ;)

A second thought is also, you being on a restricted diet as well might help influence her to stick to her healthy eating habits. Pregnancy, nursing and baby hormones I think can derail you if your not careful. It might be helpful to her.

I agree with everyone else, go for it. I think it will be good for all of you. I am so glad you wife has had such success and that your family is being blessed with a little one. Now get healthy Daddy so you can play and play and play with that little one. Wishing you the very best, to all of you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
