Are you getting veggies in? I find these do help, especially salads. Also good hydration and stool softeners (I take one every 2-3 days bc daily is too much) work for me.

6 months out and you're still having issues "going?" This is kind of discouraging. I'm 3 weeks out and thought it would fix itself over time but apparently not. I don't want to live on laxatives...

Im 9 months post op, I have/had issues too !! I had my gallbladder removed 10 wks after my RNY surgery. I would spend lots of time in the bathroom, it was awful, I would be at work and I would not eat Breakfast if I had a meeting or conference call because I knew I would be running to the bathroom. I went to my dr. and he said it could be the dairy (cottage cheese or yogurt) I was eating for breakfast.... I finally have stopped the running to the bathroom = yeah. I am not eating as much cottage cheese or yogurt and everything is OK now. I do have cottage cheese because I love it and it is high in Protein but I don't eat it every day and that seems to help. I think your body just has to adjust to the drastic change in eating habits.

I had this problem for awhile. My doctor told me to take 3 stool softners everyday and be sure to drink a lot of Water. Make sure you are eating vegetables and foods high in Fiber also. It may cause gas so have some gas x too.

I am pre-surgery, but have that problem... I have found flax does wonders, but go easy with it or plan to stay in the bathroom for the opposite effect...

I drink a cup of Smooth Move tea every other day. Its a herbal tea and It helps me. You can get it at Walmart. With all the Vitamins we have to take I thought this was better then a pill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
