New to this site. Excited that I have completed surgery part and on the mend. Pain lessens with every passing day, but still on pain meds and some discomfort. I have no problems getting liquids and Protein in. Are other people experiencing the same? I'm trying not to over drink, eat, etc....can't feel my "soft spot" yet.

I had no problems getting my Protein in and for the most part I got my fluids in too !! As long as you get your protein and fluids in you should be OK. My surgeon required me to get 64 grams of protein and 64 oz. of Water daily. I always sipped, sipped, sipped all day/night. It would take me all day/night to get the fluids in but i did it. Consider youself lucky that you can get the required amount in, you will feel better quicker and get back to normal. I was back to work in one week :) I followed my surgeons instructions exactly and had no problems what so ever.

My surgeon said to focus on staying hydrated and we could work on getting Protein at 70g over the next few weeks. Looks like your doing just fine! I'm almost a month out and I'm just making my protein goals.

That's encouragement that all is OK. After reading several posts of negative things, not being able to eat, drink, throwing up, etc I'm feeling more positive about ME. I'm following my guidelines to a T and not doing anything different.

Hope you both have a great Sunday. Looking forward to my follow up visit tomorrow.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
