This is what my NUT said about Chia or Chia seeds, as they are mostly seen, do have Fiber because they are a seed. Iron is minimal in them, so not a very adequate source.

That's what mine said, you need to ask your own NUT to see what they say!! Every NUT is different.

I've started using them in my yogurt, and they really curb the appetite. I think these will be a lifesaver for my liquid pre-op starting next week!

Anyone using these? Apparently they're super good for you and promote weight loss and give you tons of energy naturally. You can add them to any meal because they're so tiny and tasteless. I realized 4 hours after eating them I was exhausted and perked right up after another scoop. They're pretty awesome if you ask me

How do you prepare this, i was reading a lil about it said to pre- soak them first, is this what you do???

I don't soak them. Just add them to yogurt or anything that isn't solid

I add them to my shakes, wait 15 minutes and you have a thicker shake and a ton of energy. They also help move things along, if you know what I mean.

I have used them pre-op. I added them to a chocolate soy milk with a scoop of Protein. It turned to a pudding like consistency. I really like it. I want to try it with coconut milk and chocolate Protein Powder. Check out pinterest for lots of ideas!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
