justtobreathe 3 Posted January 10, 2013 So since I've decided to get the surgery I have been STRESSING about having to do a six month diet. I know that a lot of people have to do it, for insurance and what not, but it was driving me crazy thinking that I might have to. It was also driving me crazy because I have no patience, so today I got the best news! My insurance doesn't require it so I'm hoping that I everything goes smoothly from here! Hoping and praying!!! BustedBeauty 25 Posted January 10, 2013 Did you check with the program you're in? My insurance doesn't require one, but my program requires candidates to lose 5% of my body weight and maintain it until surgery ( I met the weight goal in Nov and still don't have a surgery date)
justtobreathe 3 Posted January 11, 2013 Sadly my bariatric resources department informed me that the diet is required. UGH! What a let down! But, at least I know that six months from now I should be getting a surgery date!
ladyspl 161 Posted January 11, 2013 My insurance did not require a diet either, they only required a Center of Excellence. The Center of Excellence was the ones who required a 6 month PCP monitored 800-1200 calorie diet.
KCItalianGirl 24 Posted January 12, 2013 My insurance didn't require it but the approving personnel indicated that its a national mandate through the national association....(? Can't remember exact name) and this stalled my surgery. I also had my surgery through a center of excellence..good luck! The wait was still rewarding.
