Ugh having a hard time finding comfort

Recommended Posts

Ok so I had surgery in October and I feel great and am looking good in the outside. I have struggled with kidney stones and have had them blasted work is super stressful. No need going into the boring details. But I can't eat. No food is good to eat anymore. I accidentally skipped Breakfast so irrated all day. I usually knit but I can't seem to find comfort in that. My friends and family don't understand what I'm going through. Feel lost. In need of something. What? I have no idea :( anyone

I go through the same thing often. Its depression. I get upset, irritated, dont want to eat, not interested in anything. Hopefully it will.pass for you soon. If not see a dr. about it.

This is a new depressed feeling. I really thought I had depressed on lock down. I suppose you could be right. But the feeling is more frustrate and lost. Misunderstood. Once I'm cleared to start running again next week. I look forward to it. Perhaps that will help. I feel like I have lost friends as thy have been jealous of my weight loss. But it comes with a price a huge price and I need to find my new way.

Try walking...I have felt that same way and I just took a 30 min walk with my dog....I felt so much better... Try a support group, that might help as well.

I second the support group idea. It is hard for people to know what you are going through that haven't been through it. Which is why they become distant and jealous. WLS still has the stigma of being the 'cheaters' way out. I wouldn't put much emphasis on it. Find something else to occupy your time. Whether it be family night, hanging out at home watching a movie, or window shopping at a local mall.

Another thing is pamper yourself. Go get your nails done or your hair done. Do something for you.

I know how you feel with your friends. My sister in law has actually done that to me. She refuses to acknowledge my weight loss. I've expressed my feelings to her & nothing has changed... Can't believe family would act like this...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
