Ok so advanced to soft Protein today. Wait till you try this being a man who could eat six or more eggs pre-op now having 1/2 a scrambled egg and feeling full in a new stomach. WOW!! I find the major difference in before I would be starving and now 0 hunger.

That is AWESOME!!!!

Well I like most of us would eat till there was discomfort in my stomach' date=' you know on the left. Now you will feel slight discomfort to the center. Do not worry about pouch stretching as I can drink a ton of fluids, but handle only about 2 bites then time must go by before food is tolerated.[/quote']

Thanks Mike!

Just had my staples out Thursday. I had myself so worked up thinking it would hurt I almost passed out. Turns out it didn't hurt much at all. Don't psych yourself out lol. I just got moved to soft foods yesterday and had retried beans! Best dang Beans I've ever had. It's amazing what excites us now. Good luck

You're right, it didn't really hurt, just 12 little pinches. The nutritionist was there talking to me about expectations and such so I was we'll distracted. I got the Water lecture, was told if I didn't go full force for the next two days I might end up dehydrated and she said there's no making it up, only thing to fix it is get an IV with fluids. Don't want to go through that so I'm trying harder.

I do get puréed foods for two weeks now. So far I've had yams, mashed potatoes, refried beans and cheese, and mashed seasoned ground turkey. All are on my list of approved items for stage 2 and have gone down just fine. :) only thing I can't figure out is this weird metallic taste I can't seem to get rid of....

How long so ppl usually wait postoperative to start exercising? Also what type of exercise did you start with?

Im 2wks out, and I began walking from day 1, increasing my distance and speed as I was able. I now walk 1-2 times a day for around a mile each. Takes me about 17-18 mins to walk a mile. At my post op appt I was told no strenuous exercise as my intestines are still healing, no lifting more than 10lbs. For me, I took that to mean walking and biking and mild exercises like soft yoga poses were ok, which is what I plan to do for now. Hope that helps. :)

I only had 5 incisions no stitches' date=' why did you get staples?[/quote']

Surgeon preference; some use glue, some stitches and some staples. My surgeon used staples in 5 of my 6 incisions; the 6th was my drain site. When my drain was removed the day after surgery it was just covered with a large bandage.

Good to know, felt like I was taking in too much Fluid at a time but rarely "felt" full from it.

I thought the taste was from the Protein Shakes. Nurse told me it was from ketones. From dropping weight so fast.

I think you should try the Isopure for yourself. I do not like any flavor but the grape. I am a huge fan of crystal light and to me it just tastes like another flavor of crystal light. I like it right out of the bottle' date=' but I like it more mixed with grape propel.

You have to keep an open mind about this stuff. I had my band for three years and Protein Shakes were a big part of my life. I've tried just about every brand out there and this was the least offensive one to me.

I know you can find it at GNC and on Amazon.[/quote']

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
