I'm four months out and still have problems slowing down. I eat too fast and vomit. Doctor told me yesterday that I should take 30mins to eat a meal and start with Protein, then veggies and if you still have room then some carbs.

I would talk to your nutritionist and/or doctor... you need to measure your food to know what is a normal portion. I bought a $20 food scale and that really helped me get a good idea of what size portions I should be eating. This habit of overeating and Portion Control is VERY difficult to break but if you stick to measuring and weighing EVERYTHING you will get a good idea of what you should be eating.

BBdoodle.. I do the same thing. I always measure a 1/2 cup. Carry one in your purse if you have to. If I go over that I get sick. I never get the "full" feeling until I stand up and that can be too late. Good luck! It is so hard to break.

I am 5 weeks post op. I noticed the full feeling in my pouch by my 2 week mark. I don't eat too slow and I haven't vomited thank God. I measure my food though. Truthfully, not all the time. I can stop myself before I get the full feeling because I find the full feeling to be uncomfortable lol. so I kind of eat, then take it easy a bit to see if my pouch still has room. Then I will work on my veggies or fruits. I found this site called BariWare.com. It has a great tool to help you with your portions and storing food. Its great especially of you work. Check it out and see if it will be of help to you. Let me know what you think!!! ????

I know exactly how you feel. I am a year and a half out and still have this problem. Eventually it will get better I promise. What I do is eat all my meals on a saucer and it seems to help. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. Keep your head up and you'll do great.

I'm a month out and I start to belch when I'm getting full. Don't know how long that feeling lasts but it's quite helpful! Does anyone know?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
