‎...anyone have a Vita-Mix? thoughts/reviews? I'm also looking at the magic bullet, but it has mixed reviews (though I do like the small size for travel). just looking for something to make smoothies with Protein Powder, ice and select/few veggies/fruit.

I LOVE my Ninja. It works awesome and fast. I got the cheaper one on QVC for about 50 bucks and it works just fine.

I got a Blendtec instead of a Vitamix. they are comparable in power, but the Blendtec fits under your kitchen cabinets and the Vitamix generally does not. I also like the digital power buttons on the Blendtec compared to the turny knob on the Vitamix. they are both pretty expensive, but worth the cost IMO. they will both purée ice, fruit and veg with ease.

I started with a magic bullet and within a few weeks was frustrated with the thing... I like a lot of ice and it couldn't keep up. For Christmas I received a Vitamix and I'm completely in LOVE!!! It's amazing! Actually in the past 3 years I've gone through 2 blenders... I love smoothies and this thing blows away anything I've ever had. Yes its expensive and yes its tall but it is a lifesaver!

I also have a vitamix but have it for a different reason. My daughter is disabled and eats via a gtube. She did not do well on pre made formula so we feed her all real food and use the vitamix to blend it! It has been a godsend! I make smoothies and ice cream, sherbet, sorbet, Soups. There isn't much you can't make in this thing. It is going to be really handy for after surgery.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
