Dr. Malley and other Dr. relationship

Recommended Posts

Kurn,

I know a couple of people go to Dr. Malley for post surgery maintenance and issues. He is very open to taking you on for that but I am not sure about rates. I know there are quite a few out of country bandsters that come to his offices' monthly support group meetings too.

I know Dr. Malley will do fills for you even if he didn't do the banding. I had my band done at the Army hospital in D.C. and I have a appointment with him in April 11. The staff I talked to over the phone and who sent me the paperwork via the email was great and very helpful. Tricare my insurance will not pay for the adjustments even though I had the surgery threw the military. So Dr Malley said it would be $250.00 for the first visitplus the fill and $100.00 for each fill after that. Not bad.

I went to see Dr. Nigro and Weight Loss Surgical Center In KC. He was very nice and patient with answering my endless questions. :clap2: I tried Dr. Malley first and loved him, however they are scheduling into the end of August currently for insurance patients. :phanvan Anyone else been to a Dr. at Weight Loss Surgical Center?

Hi there, I am one step closer to starting this journey to LB. I am doing my research, I am going to need to pvt pay, so cost is something i have to look at do not want to bankrupt my family to save my life. Are there any LB docs in Ks that or KC that don't charge 17000 or higher? And if i go either to MX or maybe to Colorado are there any docs in KS that will do the fills and not charge me the cost of another surgery. I need help. I have made the choice/decision to do this today and i want it done NOWWWWWWWWWWW! My DH is always supportive so i print off things that will let him keep up with what is going on. thanks for all the or any help you can give.

I was self pay with Dr. Malley and that is about the right number. I haven't heard of anyone cheaper in the area but I haven't looked a lot.

I did hear a radio program this weekend that was a new Dr. doing both Lap Band and Gastric Bypass at St. Luke's South. I can't remember his name but I think he is setting up a weight loss center there if you give them a call on the general number.

If you go somewhere else, Dr. Malley will do your after care with you.

I know that Malley has other Mexican banded patients, however I don't know the price of fills.

Hi, I have been reading your posts and am so excited for you to finally made it. Hope you are doing well!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
