You will still have some surgery swelling going on. I had my surgery on 12/04/12 and I am just now noticing how much looser my clothes are becoming. I took measurements before surgery and just checked my measurements yesterday and lost two inches in all areas except for hips where I lost 4 inches. I would rather not step on the scale because too many things can interfere with weight day-to-day, and I don't need that stress. I am satisfied to feel health improvements and notice changes in other ways. Continued success to you, we are the masters of this terrific tool called surgery. Use it wisely and it won't disappoint. I have to avoid carbs because I was diabetic going into this and am no longer taking any diabetic meds now. Carbs will continue to wreak havoc on my overall success and so I avoid them. Can't wait to add fruits (my sugar of choice) to my diet and just recently started an exercise program..... Congrats, and keep your chin up, it will all fall into place, just stay to your program!

I was so swollen it took me three weeks to get into my pre op pants. I actually went up two sizes. It will start going soon. Then you will wish you didnt have to keep trying different sizes.

I'm thinking I'm still swollen...my belly is still a little tender to touch... I can tell that I've lost weight from the top of my belly... I'm only 10 days out...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
