Sipping all day ?

Recommended Posts

When they say you should sip Water all day what do they mean? I'm in nursing school and during clinical days at the hospital I can't just walk around carrying a water bottle. What can I do realistically?

It's means to sip sip sip all day. Especially if your going to be walking around at work. My dietician said I should have a bottle of water with me at all times

That's the problem. I cannot carry around a Water bottle all day, especially into a patients room. It's just not professional. There must be someone out here in a similar situation.

Well you could always keep your Water labeled and in the break room. Make frequent stops for a sip, the walking will do you good and your nursing instructors and preceptor nurse will understand.

You should inquire about it- you carry other items you have to sit down inside the rooms? I'm a lit tutor and I carry Water with me at all times and set it down as in enter into the class rooms. As long as your container is spill proof I can't see what the bother would be.

I'm in nursing school as well and it's just not practical for us to carry a container of Water on us. We are usually carrying supplies, meds, computers, and even patients.

I plan on leaving mine in the break room and just trying my best to stop by frequently and sip.

I've worked in a hospital for 10 years...I'm going tot keep my Water hidden near the nurses' station, on the employee side. I'd never bring something going in my mouth in our patients' room. Between airborne funk and possibility of forgetting it and having someone mess with it (I work in psych), I will just make a lot of stops.

Thank you bigmike, jodimc, and Debbiebydesign. That's what I figured I'd have to do, leave it at the nurses station or something and just try to stop by every chance I get.

I kind of like the flask idea but I can totally see someone turning me in thinking I'm drinking alcohol on the job!!!!! There are always SO many eyes on us nursing students!!

How about Water fountains. Are you guys allowed to stop and take drinks? If so everytime you see one (unless your walking with someone :)) stop and take a drink

Yea, Water fountains are completely gross, especially in a hospital! I think I'll just try to grab a quick drink every time I walk past the nurses station, or maybe I can hide a bottle on the med cart or something ;) Thank you everyone for your suggestions!
