My name is Megan im 25and I had gastric bypass surgery in August and have lost 83 lbs since my surgery. I went out last night for the first time

Last night since my surgery to Celebrate New Years. I drank skinny girl vodka with diet sugar free cranberry juice all night...got pretty intoxicated. We ended up at a random pizza stand and I ate a slice of cheese pizza. The pizza itself was New York style, thin crust, some cheese and sauce, wasnt that greasy and doughy like at Pizza Hut or places like it. I ate most of the slice except for the crust and this morning I'm freaking out that I messed up. I'm terrified of set backs.

I guess my thought would be that if everything stayed down you are good to go. Just get back on track, one mistake won't derail you! You've done fantastic so far, be proud! Happy New Year!

Mistakes can happen. My doctor asked me to pledge to avoid all alcohol and marijuana for a year because he called them "dis-inhibitors." [Love that term]. Hard for me because I am an investor [small] in a few wineries and have been known to tip back a few. Good luck. And be careful. Don't want to hurt yourself just because of a little fun. ;-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
