Real Recipes

Recommended Posts

My son and daughter-in-law gave me the cookbook "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" for Christmas. I made a couple of the Soups today, pureed them, and have them freezing in ice cube trays. I was really excited because they tasted really good, even pureed. The cookbook indicates how and when each recipe can be eaten (weeks 1-4, 1/2 cup pureed). I then went back and looked at the info that my nutritionist gave me and the only thing that is mentioned is Protein. Am I allowed to have anything in addition to the protein? One Soup has onions, garlic, mushrooms, and broth. The other one has ginger, jalapeno, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and broth.

What you are mentioning is missing its Proteins. Make sure you have it. You can also add silken tofu to boost your Protein based Soup.< /div>

Also, adding powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder would help. Just make sure your soup isn't too hot when you add it or it will clump.

I should have been more clear. Both recipes also chicken in them. :-). What I am wondering is if I can have the other ingredients. The info from my dietician only says puréed meat.< /p>

You can have the other stuff as long as you can tolerate it.

The info I have says purée anything. It's better to get foods rich in Protein, but you also need to get your veggies and milk. Send me a pm if you'd like me to share the info from my dietician :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
