I wouldn't worry if I was you. It's only 3 pounds & I'm sure it will be gone soon. Weight your self once a week like I do. I'm at stall once again but it's ok. I want the scale to slow down. I don't want to disappear. I heard you have to take more Protein to increase weight lost. Idk cuz believe it or not I'm not into protein but I eat fruits veggies & fish & of course yummy steak.

It's probably Water. You'll be fine.

To gain a pound of fat you need to eat roughly 3,500 calories more than what you burned that day.

This is science. This goes for every single human on this earth regardless of anything.

You didn't gain weight.

It's physically impossible for you to have done so.

Breathe. It's Water.

This is true according to dieticians. From what I understand your body burns through about 1,500 calories a day just with normal activities.

So if you gain weight, you are likely just retaining Water or plateau. I've had plateaus that start with a gain like that.

I bet you ate more than you realized before surgery... We all did or we wouldn't be here.

I'm a nurse and what Kaylee Ann said is scientific fact.

If you aren't eating enough calories, your body goes into starvation mode and holds on to every calorie it can, storing it as fat. So your one meal a day was just as damaging as eating an extra 3500 calories. Our bodies need consistent steady calories (hence the recommended 4-6 small meals per day) for maximum calorie burn and to keep our metabolisms as active as possible. That's why upping calories and increasing exercise are often the keys to breaking a stall.

No one attacked you. You were provided with information that was helpful and informative so you could see that the old way you ate (that we ALL ate) is damaging and that since you're not eating that way anymore, you're not gaining. You can gain up to 5 pounds in Water, btw, which is totally different than gaining fat.

Well you didn't gain weight or need the gastric bypass by eating carrots.

It's science.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
