Experiencing extreme cold?

Recommended Posts

I have stayed cold post op. I went back to work yesterday and the heat in my classroom is not working. I was freezing all day... With my coat on. Today I will wear hat, gloves, and scarf in case it is still broken!

It can also be because of our low calorie diets. Calories create heat.

I have been freezing ever since the surgery too! I wear socks, Pj's, Robe and sometimes even a hat and gloves in my house! I spent my christmas money at LLBean buying a new winter coat and hat! At work, I had the tech's adjust my office temp to 76 degree's! Still cold! Today I am wearing a Camisole, long sleeve shirt, sweater, corduroy pants and Ugg boots. Oh well, can't wait for summer which I used to HATE because I was always so hot!

Sweater, long sleeve polo, t-shirt and long johns. My wife thinks I am crazy as I used to walk around the house in a t-shirt and boxers year-round. Ch-ch-ch-changes....

I get cold a lot! I've had to buy a lot of fuzzy socks and carry an extra jacket or sweater with me. Thankfully, my work is always close to 80, so that's the one place that I stay warm, lol!

First time to wear heavy sweatshirts at home. I now wear socks all the time. And the first winter in years to catch a very bad cold too

I guess that's a side effect of surgery, because I use to be hot all the time now I wear gloves to bed and my heater was broke over Christmas and had to wait until 2 days ago to get it fixed. I couldn't move I was so cold. Maybe once we maintain our weight it will get better

How are your Iron levels? I was anemic pre-op due to Vitamin deficiency, so I know that feeling!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
