I guess doing good. Keep reading my manual the surgeon gave me. Today may have slipped had 2 Protein Shakes had 2 baked potatoes nothing on them but pepper. Never was one to have butter and sour cream on them. Had 2 handfuls of multi grain baked chips. And 2 SF Jello lots of Water. It's sitting around the house being bored that's getting me. And it's freezing outside. But tomorrow I have some running around to do. So maybe it will take my mind off of food. Didn't realize I could have a poach egg on whole grain toast. Manual coming in handy now

How are you doing?

Your pre op diet doesn't sound too bad at all. I was prescribed shakes only for 2 weeks. No sf Jello, no food, nothing. You can do this! Your date will be here soon!!

Wow you are lucky to be able to have steak, potatoes and eggs!! I'm on 5 shakes a day plus Water. That's it!! I kept waking up with terrible headaches but that has stopped now. Also my lips are really chapped, but I think that's because I haven't been great with the Water. I am noticing that I am not really thinking about food that much. Following this diet is not as hard as I thought it would be! I think I can do this!!

Good luck to you. I am having my surgery on January 8th.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
