I hate when people say how easy it was. The first few weeks was horrible for most people especially emotionally. People need to hear the truth because i listened and thought it was going to be easy. Wls needs to be something that u need to live. U shouldn't get it just because you can. Ive actually heard of ppl gaining weight to be able to have surgery. That's ridiculous. Just know that most of the time after about 3 weeks it seems like patients start to feel alot better!!! But i say it's worth it

I felt awful for two weeks post op because of the drain but since drain removal, I feel better day by day.

I did not have a drain. It seems like the folks that had a drain had a harder time of it. I think it is important to remember that it is a huge deal and a major surgery. Your body will need a lot of time to heal. I've been fine emotionally. I felt very prepared for surgery, but it is hard to not feel normal. I am 7 days post op, not really pain, just soreness. My body definitely is a long way from feeling normal. I am very tired. Yesterday I took a 3 hour nap, woke up and it was dark out. It is not easy, but I have found everything to be very manageable. I had very real expectations about surgery, so I knew I would be sore and tired for awhile. I have not had that, "holy crap, why did I do this to myself?" moment. The more you can educate yourself about the realities of this surgery, the better you will be prepared for all that comes with it. I am 7 days post op and I have no regrets, just excitement about what the future holds for me!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
