Okay, so I understand the importance of taking the bariatric multi-vitamins. I guess what I am not sure of is whether or not we should be taking anymore than that. The bariatric Multi-Vitamin has so much more in it than a regular multi-vitamin so am I right to assume we are getting all that we need? I do separate my Vitamins into a morning and evening dose. I am only three weeks post-op and I do take add'l chewable Calcium along with the bariatric multi. I have read where we can be deficient in many other vitamins. I hope that those vitamins we are deficient in are being taken care of in the bariatric multi's being taken already. I know my first post-op blood work will zero in on deficiencies better than I can guess at them but should I be concerned or just continue with my current plan. I have sublingual b-12's but haven't taken them yet as the current multi I am taking has a large amount of add'l b-12 in it. Also, I tend to be able get all of my Protein in within the morning hours. I make a 20 oz skim milk Protein Shake using three scoops of protein that has 52 grams of whey protein per scoop. I know that having too much protein can also be taxing on the kidneys. Thinking I need to drink 3 separate smaller shakes and concentrate more on maybe fruits and veggies during my actual meal? Does anyone else worry about having too much protein. Should we worry about a limit from the kidney's point of view?

I don't take a bariatric Vitamin but take a Centrum chewable. I also take d, c, Iron and Calcium. I give myself a B12 shot once a month. In all my checkups my vitamin levels have been where they are supposed to be. I'm 10 months post op. as far as Protein goes. I never worry about getting too much. I focus on it over everything else. It is what you need to heal and for your body to get what it needs!!

I just received a letter about the Vitamins from my surgeon. They have a recommended schedule, to optimize absorption. I haven't had time to really figure it all out yet...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
