Lisa Collom 184 Posted December 19, 2012 Over the last couple days I've developed a very sharp burning pain in the center on my abdomen towards the right side. I can't bend over, sit up straight, stand up quickly...it hurts really bad. Leaning back and laying down doesn't hurt. Anyone else familiar with this? BBdoodle 483 Posted December 19, 2012 How far post op are you? could be gas or gallbladder
Lisa Collom 184 Posted December 19, 2012 3 weeks post op. I've had no gas pains, and I had my gallbladder removed in 2001.
BBdoodle 483 Posted December 19, 2012 It could be gas then if you had your gallbladder removed. I would call your doctor to be on the safe side. My bet is gas.
Lisa Collom 184 Posted December 19, 2012 It's not gas. Possibly a hernia given its location. Just waiting for the nurse to talk to my surgeon and call me back.
BBdoodle 483 Posted December 19, 2012 Please keep me posted.... when I had gas pains it went all the way up to my shoulders it hurt really bad. I'm glad you called the doctor
Lisa Collom 184 Posted December 19, 2012 I have to go in for a CT scan tomorrow, plus bloodworm and seeing my surgeon. He thinks hernia or abscess since its right under an incision. I'm in so much pain I can barely move.

Lisa Collom 184 Posted December 20, 2012 I don't see my surgeon until 2. I'm seriously regretting not heading to the ER last night. And on a lighter note, wondering if I can count those 12 oz of barium as Fluid lol.
msixkiller 96 Posted December 20, 2012 Dr. Theory was that muscles are healing and wanting to stiffen up and I am moving more and it is causing discomfort. He said if it is not better by Monday to call him. I Am not sure that helps.
Lisa Collom 184 Posted December 21, 2012 My surgeon thinks its either an over active nerve cluster where the port for an instrument was or an undissolved suture (which I have a history of). He shot the area with lidocaine (which hurt and didn't work) and prescribed a pain med called Neurotonin that calms nerve endings. I'm doing this til my 2 month appointment, and if there's still pain I will go anesthesiology for more precise injections. If all else fails, more surgery.
